The owner is absolutely fantastic! Property is an oasis in the woods! Stunning creek, fantastic fire pit island in a pond and then the cabin! The cabin is beautiful, accommodating and makes you feel like you are miles and miles into the woods! This is our Dad friend get away and it’s perfect!

I rented the cabin to take my 17 year old son and 3 friends on a ski trip. The location is great and the loft is outstanding for a group like this. Douglas was also very responsive with questions. Can’t wait to bring the whole fam!!

My husband and I chose this cabin to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The hand built cabin did not disappoint. Beautiful location right on a pond loaded with sunfish with a flowing stream at the rear of the property. Location is near anything you would want to do in the area. Great communication with the owner Doug made us feel right at home. Hope to return one day.

The beds were very comfortable as well as the linens, towels, etc. However, there were no blankets except for 2 throws (all I could find). It really was a better choice for the family, but for anyone who may have difficulty with stairs, all the steps are higher than average and there is no handrail going up to the loft for smaller hands. Also the steps have started to pull away from the risers.
Unfortunately 3 of the 4 days we were there it rained, and with no cable and only sketchy Wi-Fi it was less than ideal. The quiet and the singing frogs made it very pleasant. I was pleasantly surprised to find that dish soap, paper towels, napkins, and salt and pepper were provided.

Private location.
Cabin was an excellent alternative to a hotel. It allowed us to have more family time since it was graduation at Mary Baldwin and VMI. Unfortunately it rained 3 of 4 days and with no cable and only very spotty WiFi, staying inside was less than ideal. Be careful of the stairs. They
are taller steps than average and the steps are pulling away from the treads. The beds are very comfortable and all the linens are very nice, but there were no blankets except for 2 throws that I could find.

Picture perfect fall getaway
This cabin was everything we hoped of and more. Secluded and private while also being super close to hiking trails and devils backbone brewery. Farm fresh eggs were a huge plus as well!

Great fall weekend getaway for the family
We stayed over the weekend for 2 nights and our family of 4 had a great time. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed and our kids loved all the activities available on the property. We fished, hung out at the fire pit, fed the cute pigs on the property, and enjoyed cozy fires in the wood burning stove each night. The owner Doug was great communicating with us with any questions we had and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great cabin, clean, cozy, perfect for my family of four. The cabin pictures provided in the listing are precisely what you will get. Less than 10 minutes to Sherando Lake. Very close to Waynesboro, Staunton, Crabtree Falls, Wintergreen, Blue ridge parkway ... Recommended stay if you're looking in the area.

Cabin in the Woods
Our stay at the cabin was quiet and very relaxing. The property is beautiful and the scenery amazing. The cabin was very homey and comfortable. A little bit of a drive to where ever you wished to visit, but the quietness and comfort was very well worth it.

Lovely hideaway
Stayed here for a long weekend. The weather was not great, but there was enough to do in the area to keep us occupied even when raining. Hosts were lovely and very responsive on email and text. The cabin is lovely and clearly well loved by the owners with many personal touches. Well equipped kitchen, good tv and games etc available. Only complaint would be the lack of good lighting in the living and dining spaces. All beds are in the same open space; there are 3 beds, 2 with trundle options also. Friendly pigs were a great bonus and chickens in the grounds. The pond outside is great for kids with so many bluegill and pumpkinseed (size 10 hook, corn and bobber is all you need!). The stream running through the property is lovely, but small and not really a rout stream. Outdoor plug so good for EVs. Great spot for a getaway.

This was the perfect cabin. Location was beautiful. Cabin was PERFECTLY outfitted. Kitchen had everything we needed. The pond was full of wildlife, and the sound of the creek soothed our souls. Can't wait to go back!

Our 2nd stay...
This was the second stay for my husband and me at the Lyndhurst cabin. We love the serenity it offers. We have family who live in the area and visited for the day. The kids had a blast exploring the property-- looking for tad pools, picking up sticks, checking out the creek, etc! We will return again :)

Great little Cabin on a Stream
This was exactly what I was looking for, I wanted the complete cabin feel tucked back away at the bottom of a mountain on a stream. Owner very accommodating with wood for the fire pit and the indoor wood stove. Never even used electric heat. Open the rear windows and all you hear is the stream out back which is peaceful and relaxing. Took my son to local caverns and outright relaxed. Doug gave us a dozen fresh eggs which were delicious. Will definitely go back sometime in the future.

Perfect getaway spot
We had a great last minute getaway to celebrate my sons bday, relax and ski. It was about 15 min to Wintergreen Resort and my husband & older two kids enjoyed their trips there. Close enough to come back for lunch & dinner breaks. My youngest & I hung out at the cozy cabin, relaxed, played in the snow and explored the surrounding. Too cold this trip to fully enjoy the pond and the awesome fire pit on a peninsula jetting our into the pond. Loved the old school fire place inside, which kept us nice as cozy as long as we kept the fire going! Cabin was so cute & just the right size for a getaway! Owners were so nice, easy to contact & we enjoyed the fresh eggs. We hope to come again!

Perfect cabin to relax
Everything was amazing. We loved the cabin and the layout of it. The stream was my favorite to sit and just listen. Me and my husband needed a break from day to day life and the chaos in the world. This was the place to do it. We drove about 15-20 minutes and hiked some of the Appalachian Trail. Thanks for the fresh eggs. Your home is beautiful.

Perfect Weekend Getaway
Our stay was excellent. We had no trouble finding/accessing the property. Doug gave perfect instructions! They thought of everything - from ice cube trays, two coffee makers (a pot and a Keurig), labels on all of the remotes, a smart TV, bluetooth speakers, towels and linens as needed (and extras). The woodturner was amazing and the cabin has the perfect rustic vibe.
Things to be aware of:
The grocery store (IGA supermarket) is small and around 20 minutes away (there were some road closures due to ice, so maybe there is a quicker way). So, I'd recommend bringing your groceries.
Internet: we were able to connect our phones and laptops with ease. My work computer requires a bit more power, so I wasn't able to get any work done.

Serene Get-away in the Woods
This property and the cabin will exceed your expectations! It's beautiful and quiet. The stream can be heard as soon as you step out of the car. Don't miss out on the opportunity to escape to the serenity of the woods, hike along a stream, and enjoy the fireside. Once we arrived, we only left to go up to the small grocery and gas station just a few minutes drive away. Try their pulled pork; you won't be disappointed.

Great weekend
I brought my 4 year old son to this cabin for a daddy-son weekend getaway and we had a blast. He caught a ton of little fish in the pond, threw rocks in the stream, loved the pigs and chickens, and roasted an entire bag of marshmallows. We cooked our breakfasts (fresh eggs from Doug were amazing) and dinner over the firepit. We'll be back!

Excellent Stay
Our stay was wonderful. The house was clean and accommodated us well. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms was clean and the kitchen met our needs. The location is close to 151 which has many breweries/wineries/etc. and the blue ridge parkway and Waynesboro, too which was perfect for us.
Only issue we had was a big thunderstorm came through and the pond/area flooded up to the corner of the house. We were fine, the house was fine, and where are cars were parked were safe, but the area is in a floodplain.
