About this house rental
NEW NEWS - Just added: a new ROOFTOP NORTH SECTION with a MEXICAN PALAPA UMBRELLA TELAVRRA TILED TABLE AND SMALL BAR with six polished concrete stools to augment the south rooftop section with its tanning lounges and bar. Hope you like it.
Drive down our private driveway, open the Olas gate and here sits a Mexican style hacienda beach house home with a circular fountain surrounded by green gardens. It is now that you have your first spectacular view of the pool and Caribbean blue sea.
Enter our home through heavy Mexican style wood doors, and you see a sliding glass roofless atrium and your first blue sea ocean view. Spectacular.
The main living area, with its full ocean views, has a spacious a combination living and dining room plus a large separate kitchen that has all the tools necessary for your master chef. The inside house atrium has local plantings, wall water fountain, round concrete sitting table and chairs. Look to the west for the concrete set of circular stairs that leads you to the rooftop sunning areas or nighttime star gazing areas.
As with many Mexican homes there is no central air conditioning. The inside has a huge, air-conditioned master suite has a private sitting room, large modern bath and of course a huge king size bed. How about waking up early and visiting a new colorful sunrise with coffee in bed or on the sitting room couch. A main house second bedroom is an air-conditioned suite with a queen-sized bed and newly renovated large bath. Surprise, the air conditioned third bedroom suite is like a private villa called a casita. Mexican style designed with detailed Talavera tile with a double bed, the suite is only six steps to the main house front door and a dozen to the pool.
Outside activities, could include a siesta in the Mexican hammock on the fifty-foot seaside porch, relaxing in one of the twin hammocks in the seaside garden, lunch at the porch table under the shade palapa, or perhaps a dip in the freshwater pool, or just do nothing at poolside on one of the lounges or the fourth hammock under the pool palapa. How about a nighttime swim at the romantically lighted pool with running waterfalls? For a change, maybe serve coffee and breakfast in the open-air atrium with flowing water from our three-wall fish of atrium pond. And then cap it all off with a scenic walk south down the Caribbean path in front of our home. WELCOME to Casa de las Olas.
Oh! by the way, don't forget to enjoy all the fabulous Isla food. It is wonderful. We will email you a restaurant suggestion list and our information bulletin. All this information will get you started plus any assistance you may need from our property management team.

this home is amazing. Everything is as advertised, the owners are very nice and they really help you connect with nice experiences on the island. we had bad weather so we had to be home a lot and we really appreciated how comfortable and well equipped it was. from the front porch we could see turtles bobbing in and out of water. the neighborhood is quiet and a short walk from the stunning punta sur - which is a big plus.

We enjoyed casa de las olas, great location on punta sur, beautiful views. Enjoyed the rooftop in the evenings and mornings. The property manager met us at house when we arrived, we loved that they had a few items stocked in the house and fridge. Host was very responsive when I needed to extend a night. Great property, great stay on Isla.

The owner really took care of everything we needed.
Amazing communication before the stay and during. The house was beautiful! This was a perfect place to stay on the island.
Thank you for a great experience!

This house is so Authentic Mexico. It's absolutely adorable. You truly feel like you are part of their beautiful culture as soon as you walk in the door. The rooms have the textured cement walls, Mexican tiles, a great outside atrium with a waterfall and plants. The pool was the perfect temperature to swim day and night. Owners contacted me a couple of times before I arrived with the house information & Caretakers left us some breakfast food, coffee & tea and snacks (very few VRBO are that generious). There is a AMAZING view of the ocean and was a wonderful breeze so we ate meals outside. But one of the coolest things to me was the Mayan Ruins are less then 1/2 mile away and if you walk up to the 3rd floor sitting area you can see them. The house does get hot during the day but as soon as you open all the windows (yes all windows and doors have screens) there was a great cross breeze (In May) and the A/C work great in the rooms. We had a wonderful time there and throughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Dave, Janet & Lupita

This home and location is paradise. It is very well appointed, clean, spacious, private, and comfortable. All of our communications were met with timely, helpful answers and advice. My wife and I enjoyed a magical week here, and are already planning to return next year. This home will be our go-to whenever we visit Isla Mujeres.

We had a fantastic stay and everything was as billed. The hosts had food, wine and beer for us in the fridge on the night we arrived, which was a godsend after a long day of travel.
The one thing I would emphasize for folks coming in full summer is that the main part of the house does get very warm and you really have to be ready for it. I've lived in Africa, Arizona, and North Carolina, and this heat is right up there with any of them. The bedrooms do stay cool, and the master suite has a wonderful sitting area with a view if/when you need the AC, and the hosts do provide a couple of fans to put where you need them. Some days were milder and some were really hot.
That said, now let me wax poetic about the gorgeous casita: the pool area is a treat, there are iguanas on the ocean edge near the house, the sunrises are spectacular. The rooftop seating area is wonderful for stargazing, and the inner patio with its fountain provides a lovely meditative feel to the whole house.
Being on the south end of the island is really nice if you are looking for a quiet getaway, and the north end with all of its activity is there if/when you want it. Nice strolling along the ocean in either direction. The house has all kinds of suggestions for restaurants and activities.
We did snorkeling and whale sharks (amazing) and used a number of the recommendations from the hosts, Dave and Janet. Dave was super responsive and helpful.
Highly recommended!

We had a great 5 night stay. The home was even better than the pictures. Fantastic views facing east off of the back porch. The property was very clean and set up nicely. The small pool was private and kept up well. The home is behind a gated drive and in a quiet part of the island with easy access to everything via golf cart. The weather was very hot while we were there in July so the only thing we wished the home had was AC in the main living areas. We knew this up front. There are many sliding glass doors and windows to catch the ocean breeze however it did get a bit warm in the main room and kitchen. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa de las Olas. We had everything we needed. It is a beautiful house in a perfect spot in Isla. Its close enough to everything but you are away from the crowds downtown.
The plants and trees are amazing, the pool area is relaxing, the kitchen is spacious and has everything you need. The hosts even left some grocery items, wine and beer as a welcome package. We loved our stay and if we come back to Isla will stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa de las Olas! Beds were comfortable and A/C in the bedroom was terrific. It was quite hot in the main living area even with the doors and windows open, but it was expected given the fact that we went in June. All it meant was that we spent LOTS of time in the pool, which was INCREDIBLE. It was the perfect size for a family of four to enjoy. We did lose power 4 nights out of 7, but that's not the fault of the owner. The entire island was without power those times due to overrunning of A/Cs, is our guess. We ended up just sleeping on the back patio facing the ocean, which was actually quite nice with the stars and ocean breezes. We'd definitely stay here again, though possibly in the "cooler" months. Thank you for hosting us!

We enjoyed this property so much! Rooms were cold every night! Enjoyed our goodies for breakfast! We will definitely be staying here again in the future! We enjoyed the pool & our sunrises everyday!
Property manager & Owners communicated very well!
Highly recommend!

We fully enjoyed ourselves here. The pool was perfect; clean, cool and private. The view of the ocean was absolutely gorgeous. The house was comfortable and fully stocked with all the necessities. The Property Management people were so friendly and accommodating. We would definitely come back here! The only suggestion would be a clothesline as the dryer didn’t quite work. Other than that this place way exceeded our expectations and we were completely satisfied and would recommend this location 100%!!

We absolutely love this home. It is right on the beach and at night. You can hear the waves from the ocean. The pool area is awesome. It was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway with friends. We will definitely return.

The house was larger than it looked in the pictures. Loved the Mexican architecture. Appreciated the snacks, breakfast for next morning and bottle of wine after a long day of travel. The location was perfect and couldn't get enough of the view! Owner was very helpful. You do need to watch out for the steps throughout the house.

The photos do NOT do this place justice! It's expansive and perfect for a group of 6. We loved everything about this property and everything went great communication-wise. Thank you!!!

Facing east the property has glorious water views and spectacular sunrises. Even though there are other properties next door, the whole area is quiet and lush with flora. The house is bright and homey and very comfortable.

The property owners Dave and Janet could not have been any kinder. They were accommodating in every way possible. They left some snacks, wines, coffee and first morning breakfast, so all we had to do was check in and relax after a busy day of travel.
Tha house has everything you need. The AC worked amazing, just as having the doors open to get the ocean breeze was very nice.
Dave and Janet thank you for your hospitality!

The house was very clean and beautiful. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. We would definitely come back. Great place to stay! Thanks for stocking the refrigerator that was very nice.

The house is perfect, better than described. The location is spectacular, on a cliff with the sound of crashing waves and a walking path out front. The hosts made everything so easy, helping us arrange transportation and a golfcart for excursions, and stocking the house with snacks and treats for our arrival. The wifi went out but the hosts were attentive to it and kept me posted on the fix. I strugged to make phone calls from my American cellphone and it didn't matter - I emailed the hosts and local management company with questions or requests (we got a masseuse who came to the house!) and my emails were always quickly answered. Everything was perfect! I thought it was a perfect quick getaway vacation.

Beautiful home with amazing view
This is a beautiful property. Our issue is that there is not AC in the main areas and it is truly a hot box. We spent a lot of time in the casita and the bedrooms. I would recommend having TVs in the bedrooms since there is not AC in the main areas. The house has an pest control problem and there are ants everywhere. I would recommend monthly or more pest control service. The casita is perfect, the view off the back patio is beautiful. We felt safe even with the trail that runs behind the house. I would only stay here again if AC is installed in the main area. Communication was great and I did appreciate that there were eggs, bacon, orange juice and milk as well as snacks.

Fabulous views from the back porch
We loved this property and it’s location. It’s much quieter on the south end and we liked that. I could have sat on that back porch for days! The breezes coming in really helped to cool you off.
We really struggled with the lack of a/c in the main house though. The bedrooms have a/c, but the main part does not due to the atrium. Also since it was so warm out in the main area, having tvs in the bedrooms would have been nice.
Also there are so many steps/stairs in this house so if you have any mobility issues like me, just be aware. I managed to survive not falling until the night before we left. And I totally messed up my ankle all over again.
Otherwise, it’s a great property! I think if we had visited in a cooler month, we would have enjoyed it much better. According to the locals, July / August / September are the hottest months so plan accordingly.

Absolutely Perfect getaway
We enjoyed Casa De las Olas for a week. 4 women for a girls trip. The house was as wonderful as advertised. We enjoyed the pool cabana, the beach side porch in the morning, and the roof top deck in the evening. The kitchen was very well stocked for everything we needed. The beds were very comfortables with nice linens. The property management was available for anything we needed and very responsive. The host gift of snacks and eggs and cheese and beer was perfect on arrival. They also provided water and the golf cart rental from Julian could not have been easier. It was wonderful and I would definitely book this house again.

Perfect Workcation
We had a great time. Most days, we worked in the early mornings and watched the sunrise on the back patio. Magnificent views and the cool breeze with a cup of coffee and my laptop.
Once my work was done, we took walks along the path to the little beachy area or Punta Sur. That was about 1.5 mile there and back (take some water and some $$ - nice bar). Then we jumped in the pool to cool off. We rented the golf cart for the week. Its a must! We did buy a few groceries at the Chaudhuri and plenty of cocktails. "The Joint" around the corner has some fantastic drinks and a great view. You have to try the Shrimp Fettuccini at the "El Borracho Burro Cantina". The best meal we had was at Marbella fish market and raw bar" not only was the view fantastic the food was amazing.
After being out and about we would come back and open all the windows and let the cool breeze take over. No AC in the main room but the breeze was perfect.
So only issues we had was there was an internet outage on the island which made it difficult to work one morning. There was also theft of cables for electricity one evening. No power for about 3 hours on the south side of the island. Neither were the home owners fault. We just lit a few candles and played cards.
Most evenings we watched a movie and relaxed.
Suggestions - Sweet kitties that come to visit. Get some cat food if you go to the chaudhuri. We named one Princess. She came back every morning and evening.
Don't pack too much. We sat around in swimsuits most of the time and coverups to go out. The washer and dryer worked great. Laundry soap was provided.
Netflix was provided. Games/books provided.
My cousin, my daughter, and I all had our own spaces/bedrooms, private baths. I felt very safe the whole time.
This is my second time on Isla in a VRBO and I just love the island. So much to do if you want to do it. We just needed a change of scenery for our workcation. This house was perfect for that.

Perfect in every way
Our stay was perfect! Excellent communication from booking, arrival, during our stay to checking out. Super responsive to questions and our needs. This is the most well appointed home we have stayed in. Not once did we say “I wish they had…” during our visit. We can’t wait to go back!

5 day getaway
This property is a great hub to enjoy island life in Mexico. Close to everything but just far enough away from everybody. Underrated pool area with Caribbean views. Private spot on the ocean with marvelous ocean breezes flowing through the Master Bedroom. Drive to and from town are easy and fun. A three minute drive to Punta Sur make for a perfect late afternoon. The sunsets on Punta Sur are exceptional. Margarita in hand helps with a perfect restaurant on the Punta Sur to make that a reality. Transit to and from the island was safe and easy. Knowing some Spanish helps. Bring your own deck of cards. Luckily we did and enjoyed our time in the atrium when it got a little windy on the porch. Enjoyable for a family or a few couples. Master is the best bedroom on the island.

Fabulous Spanish inspired house with Caribbean Sea views.
From the moment you enter the property your stress starts to diminish as the tropical paradise unfolds in front of you. It is clear a lot of planning and love went into developing this property based on the selection of the landscaping plants and water features.
Upon opening the front doors you are greeted with an interior courtyard and another water feature, stepping around the corner the entire Caribbean Sea welcomes you with endless views from the kitchen, living room, dining room, and master suite/sitting room.
We enjoyed shopping locally, watching the sunrise each morning and preparing breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen. Afternoons consisted of relaxing in one of the hammocks while listing to the waves or chilling by the pool. Evenings were spent exploring the island and eating at one of the many wonderful restaurants.
Communication and support from Dave (property owner), the property management company, our greeter (Luis) and Lupita our concierge was excellent. They anticipated questions and were very responsive with any inquiry. Lupita arranged for a golf cart rental which was waiting for us at the property, our return taxi pick-up, and our in-home COVID testing…she was awesome!
Our family hated leaving but we look forward to a return visit later this year.

Breathtaking sunrises from the front porch
This house was like home. It was stocked with all the essentials to make you feel comfortable. Photos are accurate. It has this lovely front yard with a huge front porch, we spent so much time there enjoying the ocean breeze and sounds as we admired the breathtaking views. Honestly, would love to stay here again. By far the best place we have stayed on Isa. The owners are wonderfully kind people and so helpful. I look forward to staying here again.
