Great location by Hiriketiya Beach

After reading reviews prior to arriving we were a bit apprehensive about staying but we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, who were great throughout our stay. They showed us the switch for hot water so we never had issues with cold water. The room was spacious and the location is perfect, clear point restaurant next door do a great curry! Genuinely think people have been too hard on this place and the reviews shouldn't put you off staying. Also lots of monkeys nearby :)

A bit more upkeep in the corridors wouldn't go amiss but honestly couldn't fault this place.

Don’t stay here NOT safe not as advertised.

Nothing we left.

DO NOT STAY NOT SAFE the worst experience in our whole time in Sri Lanka! We booked through booking.com which for this booking insisted we input our card details and payment would be made through app electronically etc fine as we have before saved eating into cash we had perfect. 50% of the room would be taken upon booking the remainder after 1800 on check in day. Due to the nature of our previous days plans we were not able to reach the location until 1815 ish due to transfer times. Upon arrival we were greeted with two very odd characters who we weren’t sure originally worked their or not. When we discovered they did we proceeded to give our names and confirmed show booking we made they said ok but you must view room before taking it. Considering we had already paid for half the room at this point we thought this was odd but thought they might have had people moan so went along with it. We are pretty hardy travellers not much in way of accom shocks us and given this was 40£-50£ price point this was a pretty fancy night for us on the trip 🤣 room was ok as expected shown on booking only thing like a lot of property’s in Sri Lanka their seems to be a mould /damp smelling problem due to lack of ventilation from the bathrooms etc so musky smell etc. also minus the rather undesirable corridor and exterior rear of the property which resembled a landfill of sorts but again was away from the room so didn’t care. Went down stairs said yes that’s fine then the fun and games of the next three and a bit hours started where we were laughed and made fun of basically told pay twice or leave we don’t care all started. Also told now we had seen the room for the duration of our stay and experience with them we could make no complaints about anything. Which we immediately thought was odd but proceeded THEN We were presented with the bill and full payment must be made it cash (so pay again) NOW the “receptionist “ demanded.

Disappointing and not the standard we expected.

The hosts were very friendly and tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Hosts arranged taxi or other services.

The hotel was run down and did not look like the pictures in the brochure online. The shower was dirty and there was no hot water. The cold water did not have water pressure. The toilet did not flush properly. The rooms were only cleaned upon request and clean towels needed to be requested as well. It felt like staying at a backpackers rather than a beach resort as the name indicates.

Great location and helpful staff

Nice staff, rooms and pool were great.

The hotel common areas really need cleaning. Also the hotel needs a lot of painting and decorating. The upstairs garden area is not fenced off, so isn’t secure

Сніданок був смачний, привітні працівники.

Чистота готелю та кімнати зовсім не відповідає очікуванням. Делюкс номер зовсім не відповідає "делюксу". Помітно, що за чистотою, косметичним оновленням ніхто не слідкує. Кушони на шезлонгах брудні, все виглядає занедбаним. Таке враження, що власнику зовсім не цікаво розвивати свій бізнес. Хоч працівники і дуже привітні, враження псується через бруд всюди.

Sehr empfehlenswert, guter Service und schöne Zimmer.

Die Jungs waren sehr bemüht, alle Wünsche zu erfüllen und sehr hilfsbereit. Alle Zimmer mit Balkon.

Leider scheint das Hotel langsam herunterkommend zu wirken. Badezimmer müssten von Grund an gereinigt werden. Überall im Haus gibt es Ecken, die aussehen als ob hier noch gearbeitet wird. Terrassen werden vernachlässigt und nicht genügend gepflegt. Sehr schade für das schöne Gebäude.

Nice enough, but not worth the cost. Better places to stay at that rate.

For $70 CAD/night this was supposed to be a treat for celebrating something. There was no alcohol in the bar except rum with no mix. There was no housekeeper and I was not offered fresh towels, even had to supply my own toilet paper when no one was around. I expected a mini fridge and there wasn’t one. It advertised 24/7 service and the first night I had no water cause no one was around. I was trying to treat myself to a resort and it was a waste of money compared to other places I could have stayed.

Hiriketiya Beach Resort

Rooms and bathrooms were fairly clean. Air condition and hot water was good. Private and secure car park. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Continental Breakfast was good. Other meals were taken at restaurants nearby the property. Location is very good, easy walking distance to the bay and restaurants/ cafes.

Property is poorly maintained and run down. Check-in and reception area is shabby. Room#1- bedroom walls were damp, water drainage in the shower area was getting clogged. Key/lock to the room was not working well. It was a struggle to lock/unlock. On rainy days you will need an umbrella to get in to Room#1 as access to it is via a small garden space. Speed regulator for the ceiling fan was not working. It only worked on max speed 5. Furniture in dining area need attention. Sitting area in the upper terraces were not suitable to use and the furniture was very untidy and not clean. Only place to relax was by the poolside bar. Overall property needs attention in all areas. Room rates are overpriced given its present condition.

Budget friendly stay in good location.

Large room overlooking pool had everything we needed, including a fridge, air con, fan and tea making facilities. Excellent location close to beach without paying beachfront prices. Manager was incredibly friendly and helped us organise tuktuks etc.

The place didn't seem quite finished, or perhaps it was a little rundown.

Overall a pleasant stay with caring staff

The staff were very nice and caring, the rooms are big and comfortable

The room was a little dusty and had no window. The price was pretty high even though we came on the off season.

Good enough for a one night stay

Location was great, room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The building has seen better days. It needs a major paint job, walls were very stained, furniture in public areas was old and damaged. We didn’t use any of the facilities.

Fantastic

Wonderful location and swimming pool. Good rooms. But what made my stay there so amazing was the hospitality of the staff especially Mano. I have never met a person quite like him , so honest, kind and genuine. He made my stay there 100 % and showed me true kindness. I was shocked at his service and welcoming . He is a special person and lucky to have him working for you . I would recommend him for anything in the future

Very good

For beach lovers it's a perfect location, just a minute's walk to the beach, with good and safe beach swim and fun, Hotel is good, and the staffs are very friendly and there to help you always. Room service was not up to my expectations No phone service inside the room, for any emergency you have to call the mobile number provided, or else you need to walk into Reception. Breakfast is an ok same menu for daily there are no other choices

Clean hotel with big rooms. Staff are very welcoming and kind. Really good breakfast.

There was an issue with our lock on our room meaning we had to move rooms. It was sorted very quickly and staff were very helpful throughout.

Lovely pool close to beach

Basic hotel despite the fancy pictures online. Rooms large with fridge, they kindly lent me a kettle too. Had some minor issues with no water but it was resolved. Water pressure not good. Lovely pool....close to the beach- all beaches nearby are surf beaches so if you don't want to surf don't bother going to this town. Hotel had food and alcohol options although I didn't try them. Staff helped me with early check in.

Hotel is about 100m on dirt/ gravel Rd off main rd. Be careful when booking to choose the right room I accidentally booked a budget room with no window. All restaurants nearby are over priced. The hotel felt very unlively-but it was 'off season's. For the price I'd look for something else.

Nice modern hotel in quiet area but only 5mn walk to the beach. Nice pool. Very friendly helpful (and handsome) staff. Confortable bed and big room (06 is amazing with view on the jungle) Satisfactory breakfast Good value for money
