About this cabin rental
My home is cozy and sweet, artsy-chic! I am an artist and my home is my muse...
All the conveniences of home plus a few deer around the yard in the early hours.
Cozy main bedroom on first floor w/ a comfy queen bed.
***My loft space (I do not live there!!) is my own private space so no access but you can enjoy the natural light from the 2 skylights overhead. You have access to the entire first floor plus side & back porches!
Conveniently located just 4 miles south of hip Three Oaks, Mi. (google this fun town:), there are miles of bike-able and walkable roads right out the front door!
Harbert Beach, a small beach near the woods, is 14 minutes away, Three Oaks is a 6 minute drive. But this lovely and quiet home will seem like miles away from the city. No neighbors...
Green lush woods and a spring fed steam off the back deck will be your idea of solitude.
A well behaved pup is welcome and he will think he has been born again! Many places to sniff & explore. And NO annoying pet fees!
You can: hike, bike, walk, run, stumble, snow shoe, cross country ski...
cook, grill, eat, drink, kiss your dog, kiss your love, nap, antique shop, outlet shop, barn sale shop, pick apples, pick peaches, pick blueberries, pick on each other ~ no!
Stay up late, sleep in late. Look for early morning deer & turkeys out the bed room window. Walk your dog, talk with your dog, run w/ your dog, sleep w/ your dog, hug your dog. Bike over rolling hills, follow the Apple Cider Century roads!
Really great country road walking and the best in the midwest biking, 10 seconds from front stoop.

Super cute space to hang out and enjoy being away from it all!

We were able to hit the dog beach at Warren Dunes, walk through the shops in Three Oaks, ate lunch at the Oaks Cafe, hike the properties trails, cooked out in the properties back deck and enjoyed coffee every morning in the sunroom! We totally enjoyed ourselves!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The cottage was very cozy with so much natural light and it felt very serene. I really enjoyed the private trails along the creek and quiet seclusion.

If you love being nestled in a woods but within easy distance to both quaint little towns and Lake Michigan, this is your place! Host Suzanne was MOST welcoming. The cottage is extremely well stocked (both kitchen and bath). No need to bring spices unless you want something special. In short, I will be returning when I need a little getaway!

Such a wonderful location. The home is situated in a wooded location away from the hustle and bustle. We could not see any neighbors! The scenery is beautiful. The home is well maintained. Lots of interesting and unique decorating throughout. Super close to Three Oaks Michigan which was perfect for tooling around. The host, Suzanne, was very responsive to any questions. We'll definitely consider this location again!

My girlfriend and I LOVED the solitude and time together in this private little house! Wish we could stay there every weekend!

Home was very cluttered and floors dirty. Musty odor very noticeable right away.
My allergies were really bad. House might have mold. I struggled with my asthma. Pictures portrayed in ad were different than what the house actually looks inside. In the yellow sunroom, for instance the pics fail to show a giant fooseball table in the middle, several chairs & a couch. Was not functional at all Was asked by property owner to not to wear shoes in the house. Wore socks & soles were black within 3 hours. Picked up one of the rugs and tons of dirt and grime under it. The faucet on the kitchen sink would turn itself back on. We finally figured out to keep in off wenhad to place in the "cold" position. Coffee maker water unit was filthy and slimy. I cleaned it. There was a Keurig but was not aware it would be there as not in ad. Bed in master is against the wall. To get out you have to climb over your bed mate. The tub was an old bear claw style tub so very hard to crawl into if you’re short or older which I am. Window ac worked well but wasnt sealed so bugs were getting into house. Mostly mosquitos. Got all bit up.
Nothing a little duct tape wouldnt fix. Overall the location was good to get to the casino. Did allow for early check in and late check out. Least that she could have done with all of the issues. Was hoping for a refund of maybe 1 night of 3 or some price reduction. I did bring the issues to her attention that would be an easy fix for future renters.

Suzanne's little cottage on the edge of the woods in the just ten minutes south of the MI border was just the retreat we were looking for. And, to top it off, we were allowed to bring our most favorite travel companion with us. It is easy enough to find places to bring your doggos, but it is another story when a cat is involved, so we were thrilled when she accepted our request. The trails behind the cottage were prefect for walking with our little furball (she LOVED IT) and the cozy indoor accommodations were appreciated by all of us. Suzanne also has an eye for the eclectic, and her décor was exhilarating and oh-so unique. I couldn't have been happier with our experience and would relish the chance to stay there again. She is an EXCELLENT host and communication was spot-on. Overall, we give The Down Dog Inn and it's owner 5 toe-beans up!
Best,
Jen, Brian and Magda

Weekday Getaway
This was a great place to be disconnected and off the grid! My fiancee had to work remotely, so he needed to find faster wifi in nearby New Buffalo, but I had just enough for my mini spiritual retreat. Minutes away from Three Oaks & my pups loved exploring the woods surrounding the house.
Suzanne was really responsive. The power even went out in our neighborhood on the last night & she went above & beyond to let us know where supplies were. This was my second visit, and I'll probably be back next year.

Great getaway
Great getaway with lots of charm. Secluded and peaceful loved looking at the art and knickknacks and spending time outside. The area by the creek is nice, but the longer trail is overgrown. A minor suggestion would be to include more space on the bedside table to put your things down. Minor suggestions, overall great experience.

Down Dog Inn, Rolling Prairie, Indiana
My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, had such a great time at Down Dog Inn. Checking in and out was so easy! Suzanne, the host, is so nice and very easy to work with. The property is fantastic with different trails we could take our dogs on.
The house was very clean and we loved the decor! We definitely will come back again!! Thank you Suzanne!

Dog Down
Property was well located close to Three Oaks and New Buffalo. We liked the remoteness and the quiet. The host left a bag of ice and treats for the dog as well as charcoal and lighter fluid. On the negative side the bed was way too cramped placed up against a wall so that we had to crawl over one another to get in and out. The kitchen drawers need cleaned and clutter removed. Sturdier chairs are needed for the kitchen and the living area. But the experience was pleasant and relaxing.

Utensils dirty wine glasses and dishes dirty. Bed is jammed against wall and only way in and out is to climb over a person. Privacy? Mushroom hunters park in driveway and access property

Wonderful stay with our dog
This little house is a wonderful retreat. Hiking trails, biking trails, all tucked away near a forest yet close enough to some very nice local dining spots. Deer visited the yard regularly and our pup got a big kick out of them. Particularly loved the hip decor and the claw foot bathtub.

Great for getaway
Really nice little country place for taking walk in the woods or a short drive to the great little town of Three Oaks, or just a bit longer for a trip to the beaches of Lake Michigan. I really enjoyed just sitting on the deck and taking in the sights of the woods in back. Communication with Suzanne is great.

4 month stay Spring 2020
The property gives you an inescapable feeling of being surrounded by nature. During our stay at different times deer, turkey, and other wildlife were frequent visitors in the yard and surrounding woods. I found it a very tranquil place to ‘unplug’ after a hectic day of work.
The home itself has an old country feel. Cleanliness was very good. The home was very well equipped; our only purchase was groceries for a 4 month stay. The homeowner obviously takes great pride in maintaining the home and grounds. I suspect she is an artist based on her decorating choices.
I hope to return and recommend this property without reservation.

Serene
Property is secluded. The gardens were unkempt and the interior was cluttered. I couldn’t open windows without dead bugs blowing in. Maintenance company needs to do a better job. There was moldy food in both cupboards and refrigerator - Nasty!
Kitchen was lacking in small appliances and basics like measuring cups. Mr. coffee maker was so dirty that it wasn’t pulling water from reservoir. Bed pillows were flat and I woke with neck and shoulder pain.
Thank God for the beautiful weather because we spent our time away from the house.
Disappointed,
P&J

A Great Getaway
We had an amazing week staying in Suzanne's warm and beautiful home. We loved hanging outdoors in the yard and on the deck. We hiked, biked and relaxed. We took advantage of all the great suggestions provided and found lovely beaches as well as great restaurants in nearby Three Oaks. It was a blissful week and we were sad to leave.

What a wonderful hideaway! Quiet setting and comfortable cottage. Dog friendly!
Thank you Suzanne for such a wonderful, quiet hideaway. Enjoyed the walks in woods, and nice to come back to air conditioning in the hot summer. Our senior dog settled in too! Bed very comfy, kitchen full equipped. Decorated with artist flair! Beach not a far drive and good food found in town. We came for a concert at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks which is only about a 10 min drive from the cottage. Owner easy to talk with and very accommodating. Thanks again Suzanne! Would love a return visit.

Secluded but Convenient Location
We enjoyed our time at Suzanne's property. We loved the fire pit, hiking trail right off the property, and proximity to things to do without being in the thick of it.
