About this apartment rental
Waterside apartment in a Boating Community. Private entrance. 4 miles across the bay front downtown San Francisco.
Alameda is a charming island town filled with old Victorian summer homes. Large sunny beach. Windsurfing, Kite-boarding, Sailing, Sun Bathing. The town has many local pubs and restaurants.
The apartment unit has a floating dock in front of a large outside deck. It's a great place to to BBQ or just sitting on our dock enjoying San Francisco Bay, the one-bedroom unit has an attached bath and shower and a small side room with a small refrigerator, toaster, coffer maker some other amenities. The bed room can accommodate two people in the comfortable queen-size bed.
There is a large outside deck overlooking our boat dock. There seems to be a constant parade of kayaks, paddle-boarders, and boater passing up the canal.
A pleasant 20-minute ferry ride from Alameda will take you to the Ferry Building in down town San Francisco. Alameda's South Shore Beach, just a 10-minute walk, is a great place to sun bath or take lesson for Kite-boarding.

This was such a relaxing place to stay. You have your own dock with many items to use not just a bbq.
We spoke with Gary a few times. Once was regarding the bathroom fan, he was very empathetic and responsive. Lisa, we only got a chance to say hi in passing.
We didn’t get to spend much time here… wish we did. For our first VRBO type stay, it was a huge success.
Thank you Gary and Lisa for having us.

Property is in a quiet neighborhood. Perfectly located on the water within walking distance of trails and parks. Also convenient for trips into Oakland and San Francisco.

As soon as we got there, we tried to heat up our food in the microwave and the breaker goes. This happened throughout our stay. At one point we were without power to our fridge bathroom and TV. He finally got an electrion to come out on Friday, the day we were leaving. Was not a fun time.

Bedroom is in a condo, but has its own entrance. Table and chairs on deck is shared with owner. Owner very nice! Room needs a bit of a cleaning - shower somewhat moldy. Cobwebs on the walls. Water, coffee maker, snacks included - nice touch. "Kitchenette" is actually in a closet - kinda strange. Perfect location in Alameda.

The location was very nice but the room was VERY hot and the mobile air conditioner was not functional. Be aware that this is a room in a house with a separate entrance but you do share walls with the owners. There were plenty of towels and bottles of water along with a few snacks which was nice. But the used bottles of shampoo/body wash in the shower kind of grossed me out. Also, the tv was older and not a smart tv so there were few channels and not great reception.

Very nice
Our room was very nice. You can’t really prepare food there but they have converted a closet into a small kitchenette with a refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. If you are just going to sleep there it is perfect. It is attached to their living quarters so you can hear them which means they can hear you. Beautiful setting right on the bay. Would definitely stay there again.

Peaceful bayside retreat
Tranquility of sitting outdoors viewing the marina channel and the bay very pleasurable. Owner did not respond to my request for specific information. The room could use maintenance and upgrades:
•Kitchenette/closet area needed dusting and lacked dishwashing liquid.
•Tub/shower faucet needs to be loosened. Very difficult to turn on.
•Walls are very thin. I could hear snoring at night. Their cooking smelled good, though--waffles in the morning and curry at night. Share some with guest? :) :)

Honeymoon
My husband and I enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed visiting San Francisco but staying outside of it for sleep! Bed was comfortable though be careful not to stub your toe! Water gets very hot fast.

Short stay.
This small space worked ideal for the purpose of our visit. Located near friends and we needed it only to sleep. Virtually no sounds proofing, yet comfortable. We would stay here again.

Not a great space
I booked this space almost a year ago. I’ve learned a lot since then. This is a bedroom in a house with an exterior door. If you need a comfortable bed and little more, it may work for you. The deck over the canal offers gorgeous seating outside. Inside there are lots of deferred maintenance issues, such as hard to start faucets, bathroom fan that took 5 minutes to start and then sounded like it was about to fall out of the ceiling. The bathroom light would randomly turn off. The walls are paper thin, and offer little privacy. You can hear snoring and arguments and I’m sure they can hear everything that we said. The hair dryer was dirty,

Charming apt with everything you need provided. Enjoyed the views from the dock and deck. Took several pictures of San Francisco across the bay. Loved it and will be returning again the next time we visit our daughter in Alameda

GREAT LITTLE PLACE FOR ONE (2 if you are comfortable in relatively small places.) this could easily be a 5 star if it had immediately outside the sliding door (which is your only door to enter unit) a table and good size seat to be comfortable with a small crank out awning so the sun glare would not affect the computer screen you need to work on to change flights etc. price is half the price of a hotel price so YES, I will stay there again. bathroom fixtures are new and tight so tight we thought we would break the faucet if we pulled any harder to activate the faucet. A sign should be posted as we went without shover and sink the first night it was so tight. we did not want to damage fixtures. Found parking easily most nights and it is very nice and quiet.

Amazing for fellow water lovers
Gary & Lisa were great hosts! The room was perfect for the two of us! Right on the water, very peaceful and close enough to town we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. They were extremely kind & even let us borrow their kayaks to explore the bay & Marina area. We LOVED it and will be back forsure! Thank you!

Great location
Parking and access are very good in a quiet neighborhood. Bed was very comfortable and enjoyed Keurig coffee , and lots of it, each morning on semi private area on there dock. The room was a little tight for a 5 day stay. The faucets were very hard to turn on and off, the bath room fan groaned loudly or did not works at all. The fluorescent light in the bathroom had one bulb burned out and the other one to flickered all the time.

Everything was fine! Great location to get around. Nice clean room, loved to walk to the end over the road and look out at the water. Watch your step sign needs to be put up when going thru the main door, i tripped. The bed was not so hot and the bathroom needs some updating. My husband had to turn the shower on for me, because I couldn't pull it out, he even had a hard time turning it on same with the sink. The shower head is too low didn't even get my head wet same with husband, you only got wet mid chest down.

Great stay!
This property is in a great location for access to beach, walking trails, and restaurants/bars. Gary is very nice and had kayaks available, coffee and water in the room, and a few snacks.
The bed is comfortable and the room is just big enough to fit my yoga mat. Good closet space and a dresser helped us unpack and enjoy our 5 night stay

Excellent location, very thin walls
I absolutely loved the location. Step outside and the bay is right there. Two coffee shops within a 15 minutes walk with delicious coffee. And a 15 minutes walk to the beach. I spent most of my time at the beach or in room watching some TV. I'm a busy mom that really enjoyed 2 days rest. The room was tidy and had a closet kitchenette with a fancy microwave. I appreciate that since I brought my own food. Food allergies make it that I like to have some with me. I didn't like the thinness of the walls. You can hear people in the house in restroom, talking, and snoring.

Can't go wrong
I simply needed a place to stay that was clean and comfortable. Sitting on the Dock of the Bay is a wonderful gem of a find in a quiet neighborhood. It certainly didn't hurt that the location on the Harbor is very tranquil. The owners have taken care to provide a nice space in which can rest comfortably. Next trip back to the Bay Area I will check to see if this rental is available again.

Alameda rental
This is a perfect location for a San Francisco visit. Ferry access eliminates the expense and headaches of driving into the city. Alameda is a hidden gem of a neighborhood that is safe and has excellent ethnic food.

Nice
Being so close to the water is lovely. It was quite a ways to uber into the city so that got to be expensive but that was our error. Only complaint would be that the walls are paper thin.

We didn’t spend much time at the property since we had so much to do. Worked well for the price. Close to restaurants and ferry.

Great location
The location is amazing. Right on the water, lovely walking trails and within walking distance of restaurants and shops.
Our host Gary was very nice he came out to meet us when we arrived and even helped us carry in our luggage.
The room were we stayed has it’s own bathroom & the closet has a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, fridge & the hosts provided waters, coffee & a few sodas. The room is very small & adjacent to the hosts room. We kind of felt like we were staying at our parents house.
The carpet had some stains & the bathroom was ok, but could have been cleaner.
