Archontiko Porteli (Mansion Porteli)
A very warm welcome to Arhontiko Porteli!
A recently renovated 19th century stone-built mansion located in the well preserved village of Makrinitsa, Pelion.
This unique traditional stone house was built back in the 19th century and has been in my family since then, after 4 generations!
I have personally spent last 18 months renovating the property with my passion and love for tradition, maintaining its original architecture and features and at the same time making it a fully functional modern home to accommodate my family and my guests.
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, accessible only by a cobblestone street, away from traffic and noise. Due to its unique location it naturally blends in to its surrounding environment and surrounded by trees and nature. The views of the sea and the mountains are just stunning and particularly the views from the balcony, a rare privilege among this type of cottages.
A few words about the village of Makrinitsa
Makrinitsa is a small picturesque Greek village located on top of mountain Pelion, the legendary mountain of centaurs, in Thessaly, Greece. What make this village so unique is its architecture and breath-taking views as all the houses are built amphitheatrically hanging like ornaments and overlooking the Pagasitikos sea Gulf and the city of Volos.
How can I access the property?
In an effort to maintain the traditional character of the village, access to cars is not allowed on most /part of it. As you are entering the village there is a public car park, where most people park and then walk into the village square via a traditional cobblestone footpath where all the tavernas and cafes are located.
When you arrive at Makrinitsa you will be meet and greet at the main car park, where your luggage will be taken care of, and you will be taken to the house via the traditional cobblestone road to the house, an approximately distance of 150 meters.
When you arrive at the house you will be shown around the house, answer any questions you may have, hand over the unique key and let you enjoy the rest of your holidays, that's it really!
Just by walking down the cobblestone road and within a few minutes you will find yourself at the main village square. There you can find traditional taverns, cafes, mini market, bakery, and shops that sell all the locally produced traditional delicacies.
Since cars are restricted in the village it is a nice relaxing area where the kids can play around the village square whilst you are enjoying your coffee of dinner in the nearby cafes or tavernas.
