About this house rental
Lake Travis House on just under 2 acres with incredible views, great decks, a boat dock, and a fire pit. 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. We are just down the street from Vintage Villas on Eck Lane. This is a great space to relax and enjoy the fun of Lake Travis. Lots of space to spread out and perfect areas to come together. This is a perfect place for getting together with friends, family reunions, wedding parties, or baby showers. We can accommodate events for an extra fee. All events and parties must be approved by the owner in advance
We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. We moved here in June, 2018, and have been fixing it up since. We are continually working to make this place as beautiful as she deserves to be. We are looking forward to sharing it with new friends in the VRBO community. We are also continuing to improve the property. We like to use the words rustic, charming and quirky! It was neglected for decades and just like an onion, you peel back a layer and another layer! Our goal is to be a great place to visit, whether you are looking for a great place to get together with lots of family and friends or are looking for a quiet romantic weekend at the lake. We love dogs and encourage you to bring your fur-babies as well. We love cats too, but have family members who have allergies so please leave cats at home.
Guest access to the lake
A short 1/4 mi. walk DOWNHILL on our private road takes you to our beach on Lake Travis. Bring your water toys and Floaties. If you have a boat or jet skis you can either tie up to the dock at night or take advantage of guest slips at one of two marinas less than a mile away. The Main House is set up for Guests use. The Laundry room is typically locked off for rentals of less than a month but can be made available for longer term rentals. There are a couple closets which are locked off for storage, but all rooms and the kitchen are available for guests use. Anything in the pantry or bathrooms is there for your use. Kristin is a foodie and can tell you all the great places to go out to eat at!
Other things to note
Water levels on Lake Travis are constantly fluctuating. Water levels may be higher or lower than shown in the pictures. We are fortunate to have a boat dock with deep water access. If you are planning to bring a boat please discuss docking options with us in advance.
It also is downhill. Because lake levels on Travis fluctuate, all newer homes must be built above the flood plain of 722 Ft above sea level. Lake levels constantly change but are currently in the 650-660s range.
Bring water shoes as the beach is quite rocky. We are in "the country" of Lake Travis so we don't usually recommend walking or exploring in flip flops. The water is clean and a great temperature for swimming in the spring and summertime or winter if you're part polar bear. The road to the lake is off-limits for guest vehicles if you need assistance John also has a work truck that is usually at the house.

Clean property John was great. Lake is 30 plus feet low but could have used the kayaks and paddle board. But long walk to lake.

Wonderful time, the home, the lake, the yard & the deck all made for a peaceful retreat for our family, including our dogs.
John is a wonderful host and responsive to any questions we had.
Plenty of room for all to relax & enjoy our time together. We had fun on the lake...kayaking and the Lilly pad were so much fun.

Our family of five, including ages 40-somethings, 21, 19, 17, and dogs all enjoyed our long weekend. Even though lake levels are low, we were able to still enjoy water access from the dock. Everyone enjoyed the kayaks, SUPs, and lily pad, as well as the protected cove for water fun.
There is rocky, uneven terrain downhill to the firepit & then further down to the dock, five-ish min total, so keep that in mind if you have young children or anyone with mobility issues. As the listing suggests, you'll definitely want to wear water shoes, not sandals.
The house is clean, nice layout, great for family time. The host John is very responsive and easy to reach if needed.

Beautiful & quiet getaway
My husband and I just moved to the Austin area so we rented this house as a staycation for my birthday weekend with my mom and our 1y/o puppy. All of us had such a great time. It was presidents day weekend so there were some neighbors blasting music the entire first day/night we were there (Saturday) but you could only hear it down by the water/fire pit. Even with the super loud music the house/back porch/back yard stayed totally quiet which was such a relief! The host was communicative and wanted to do anything he could to make sure we had a great stay. We would 100% book to stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Very Comfortable House
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this house. As we were there in late December, we didn't do much lake stuff. The view of the lake was nice. The host, John, was very friendly and helpful.

Great property
The place had plenty of space for everything we wanted to do. Big kitchen, dining area, living room and then the backyard space was perfect for our group! Lake access was a big bonus as well.

We welcomed in the new year at this property and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is spacious, clean, well-stocked, and as advertised. John and Kristin were friendly, helpful, and right down the street to help out with anything that may come up. My favorites are the wall of huge windows overlooking the lake and peaceful and green backyard.

John & Kristen are delightful people & gracious hosts.
We enjoyed a 3 night stay included excellent sunset views over Lake Travis, an open fire pit smore making contest and late afternoon Kayaking. The outdoor patio was our favorite spot to soak it all in.
Thanks again for a wonderful holiday visit

This was our first time doing an extended stay in a VRBO property, so we were a little nervous before arriving. That was a big waste of energy because our stay could not have been better. Kristin and John made us feel at home before we even arrived. I mentioned that I would be working while we were there, so there was an office set up for me when we arrived. Kristin and John did a walkthrough of the house and property with us on our first day. They were prepared to answer all of our questions. (Is there a tennis court nearby? The answer is yes.) Every detail is attended to in this house. Kitchen is huge. Gas BBQ. Super-comfortable couches and chairs. Slept very well in the main bedroom. Great showers. Plenty of closets and drawers. And the outdoor space. Don't get me started. It is large and has plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the perfect view of the lake. We sat outside on the deck almost every evening to watch the spectacular sunsets. Our dog was happier than we were in that backyard. Plenty of space to run around and play with his tennis ball. Beautiful long street to walk on with very little car traffic. The walk to the dock on the property is less than 5 minutes. Super easy access to the lake. If you are looking for a place for a long-term stay on Lake Travis, pick this house!!

Grandpas Birthday Weekend
We had an amazing weekend celebrating my Dad 65th birthday. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare family meals. We were a family of 8 adults and puppy. Everyone had plenty of room, beds were super comfy and restroom had tons of towels for everyone. We spent most of our time preparing meals on the back porch and enjoying the beautiful views. John set up the kayaks, paddle boards, lily pad and beach chairs for us on the lake just a short walk down. We usually rent a boat or jet-skies but we didn’t missed them at all. John had everything we needed completely set up for entertainment. Hands down best lake house we’ve stayed at. Based on my 65th year old parents to my 19 year old son and our puppy. Can’t wait to come back.

Best Girls Trip Ever!
If you are going to stay in Hudson Bend this is the place! Every year we take a ladies trip and this year we have finally found the perfect place! The hospitality was ridiculous! John and Kristin went out of their way to make sure we had anything we needed. The house was nice, clean and cool. Slept like babies...Our Fur-babies had a blast and we all felt super comfortable letting them roam in the large fenced in yard. The lake was just a short walk down and they kayaks and paddle boards they let us use was so fun. But the Aqua lily pad probably got the most use lol. Can't wait to visit again next year!

Relaxing Stay
We enjoyed our stay here. It was a relaxing few days. The house was nice and homey. Our dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard too! There was a sour smell in the master bathroom but it was hard to tell where it came from. Maybe the inside shower curtain needs to be cleaned or changed. Other than that everything was very nice and we enjoyed our stay!

Great stay on the lake
John and Kristens place was so great and had everything we needed for a weekend getaway on the lake. The property is way better in person than in pictures and the views and access to the lake was amazing. Our group had a blast and would definitely stay again.

Amazing stay at this wonderful house on Hudson Bend
Few friends and I had a chance to stay at John and Kristina's property past weekend. We were having a friends reunion and we stayed at their property.
Everyone enjoyed our stay and we had a blast. They own a very beautiful house on Hudson Bend, Austin. House is very clean and located on a very awesome location. It is very tidy and very well maintained. There's plenty of parking space and house can accommodate 6-8 persons for sleeping. We had couple of friends extra who joined to hang out with us in the evening. Our highlight was hanging out in the beautiful porch overlooking sky and lake. It has very nice lights and plenty of sitting space. We also enjoyed hot tub in the porch area. Kitchen is very well equipped with cooking and grilling utensils along with glasses, dinner plate and cutlery items. Both bathrooms are very clean with lots of towels and shower items.
John is an amazing guy and was very prompt with his replies. He made sure we checked in late at night without any issues. He is very helpful and a caring person. He allowed us to use kayaks and paddle boards for water activities. He also helped us in getting into water and getting out from it.
Host family was kind enough to provide us firewood for the night. We also got to chance two of their adorable 'fur babies.' We enjoyed our stay and hope we can stay again at their place in future.
We highly recommend this place to others for their family vacation, reunions, birthday parties etc. Thanks John and Kristina for your hospitality :)
