About this house rental
Furnished, well-appointed, spacious 3800 sq foot “executive home” on exclusive Scarborough Beach. The beach is a one-minute walk from the home down a path lined with bushes that flower in the summer. The beach is unique among southern Maine's sandy beaches; it is over a mile long and is free of development. Save one house in over a mile, there are no homes situated directly on the beach dunes. The beach and area are outstanding for swimming, walking, surfing, and boating. There are spectacular views of Stratton Island, Shooting Rocks, and Black Point. There are excellent golf courses within 15 minutes of the house, public tennis courts and wildlife and bird sanctuaries. Public boat ramps are nearby. The layout of the home is a split level with 4 BRs and 2 and 1/2 Baths. There is a dining room, living room, and two family rooms, a large sun room and open deck. The house is quite simple, but it is very spacious and has everything you need. Scarborough Beach is a very special place and to be able to walk there makes this house a great find.

Once again another great visit to this perfect vacation house. We love the beach area and all the room! Thanks

After staying a week, we were very surprised by the positive reviews.
Pros: the house is near the beach. The beach is beautiful and not crowded whatsoever. You do need to rake a spot because there is a lot of seaweed. The screened in porch was really nice.
Cons: the house is old and musty. You cannot move in the upstairs bed without the entire thing making noise. We killed at least 50 ants, spiders, and earwigs. The three bedrooms in the basement are less than desirable to sleep in. There are multiple dehumidifiers we had to empty daily, sometimes twice daily. When drying clothes, the entire room becomes a sauna, soaking the entire bathroom. It was disgusting. We also could not locate any smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, which made doing laundry extra scary.
We discovered an apartment attached to the basement that was supposed to be locked and it was disgusting. We worried someone else would be in there but the owner said no one would staying there.
We were asked to sweep, vacuum and wipe down counters at the end of the stay despite paying a cleaning fee. After being in the basement bedrooms, our feet were consistently black. For what we paid, we are extremely disappointed and would never stay here again and would recommend you don’t either.

Wonderful location, plenty of room, well equipped and accommodating. Terrific easy walk to the sea. Very quiet and private. Always loved this beach.

Comfortable house two minutes to the beach in a quiet neighborhood. What more could you want?!

Great neighborhood. This was a working trip - not a vacation.

Scarborough Beach is a family favorite. This home is a short walk down a hidden path to the most private end of the beach. The home has everything you might need. We had a wonderful week.

We had a wonderful stay at this comfortable home near Scarborough Beach. The screened porch was delightful and huge - we had fun eating dinners out there without fear of being carried away by mosquitoes. There are lots of separate areas to hang out, which was nice with two kids and an infant. The walk to the beach takes about 2-3 minutes on a pretty trail, and the beach itself was gorgeous. We loved how close we were to Portland as well, it was fun to be able to make a quick trip in for bagels or a brewery stop. The basement was a little musty, even with the dehumidifier running all the time - but that's to be expected so close to the ocean. This house was a lovely spot and we will hopefully be returning again next year!

The house was very comfortable for sleeping 4 adults and 4 children. The easy access to the sandy private beach, via a 1 minute walk, was quite a treasure. We're definitely interested in returning next year

This home is a 2’ walk down a picturesque lane to an amazing beach. Very few people on a very long and clean beach. Fantastic views. The home was very comfortable for all 9 of us, 3 families total with 6 adults and children 5, 2 and 1.5 years old. Also a very short bike ride to Ferry Beach which is calmer for swimming laps and playing for young children. The owners were very available. The sole recommendation is that they take a look at the dishwasher which is okay but not great - we ended up doing a lot of dishes by hand. There are multiple common spaces for hanging out and we enjoyed all of them - the living room w a great view, front lawn, family room w a large tv for the kids, very large back screened room was our favorite for dining, jigsaw puzzles and generally just being together. This large, rambling home was perfect for our big family; well furnished kitchen which was important since we cooked almost all meals there. Neighbors were friendly. Highly recommend this house!

Had a great time!
The 7 of us really enjoyed our stay in the house. Spacious common rooms and a well-stocked kitchen. Very quiet neighborhood. Love the little path to the private beach. Would stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week. The house is spotless. The close location to the beach is excellent and it was perfect to bring our dog with us.

Perfect family getaway
This is a beautiful property in a private setting with access to the end of Scarborough Beach. The layout of the house is so spacious and comfortable. Everything was spotless! The proximity to the beach gave 3 generations of my family the ability to enjoy their own schedules without having to worry about being ready at the same time to drive together. 10 minute drive to stores and food, also close to Two Lights and Portland. So many wonderful memories from the week! We would definitely recommend to anyone, and in fact are thinking of booking again for next summer!

Finally able to get all our kids and grandkids together.
The property gave room for us all to have privacy but we always gathered on the large three season porch for meals. I even slept on the porch with my grandkids, a great adventure for them! The beach was beautiful and close. Also, not many people or surfers to interfere with boogey boarding. We rented the house next door for a week as well to accommodate my other daughter’s family. We hope to be able to stay again. Our grandkids never wanted to leave and grandma took a two hour nap when they did!

Beach Property
Property was in a great location. The only issue was the path to the beach.

Beautiful property and location!
Perfect location and home for a family of eight all with competing demands for an ideal vacation. Some needed A beach close by, others golf and tennis and one an ice cream shop! Some needed WiFi to be able to work and everyone had their own place to venture off to. A centrally located kitchen with the cook’s ability to chat with people in any room! The screened in porch out back is just lovely! Breweries and Portland are a stone’s throw away. The early morning light is spectacular and the beach is secluded and gorgeous! Valerie met us at the property and ensured that all our needs were met, such a lovely person with lots of advice for us on how to enjoy our time there! If we make this an annual tradition, we definitely want to come back to this slice of heaven!

Absolutely perfect
Family of 4 with young children, a quiet and calm getaway in a residential neighborhood with the beach truly walkable - never crowded. The house was large and full of personality, great deck in the back, driving distance to everywhere we would have wanted to go - but the main attraction is a few steps away in any case. Everything was clean and organized. Valerie was great. We truly had an amazing stay!

Lovely spot
Great location a three-minute walk from a beautiful beach that was virtually empty whenever we went. The house itself is surprisingly spacious, with multiple seating areas—it’s easy if different groups want to do different things, or if someone needs a quiet spot to work. It’s comfortable, extremely clean and very relaxing.

Feels like home
This is our favorite rental home. Perfect set-up for large groups and lots of room to spread out--living room, main den, downstairs den and large covered porch. Comfortable beds and kitchen well supplied. Owner and caretaker pleasant to deal with.

Nice home with plenty of room to spread out.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving here with our 3 adult sons. Plenty of room for everyone and close to family we were visiting.

we had a wonderful weekend attending the wedding of a niece on Prout's neck.
There were four bedrooms and 2.5 baths for our party of six. Plenty of towels, pillows, sheets, and kitchen stuff so that everyone was extremely comfortable. The place was clean and had three large living areas to sit and chat. We only used two. The beach access was a half-minute walk and the beach walk itself was glorious. My sons and their wives all felt that staying at this house was much better than staying in a hotel because we could visit and relax. I highly recommend this place. JS

Generous Space for Group Get-Togethers
Six of us travel each year to a different location, and this year my group decided to come to Portland, Maine close to where I live, so we found this great home on Scarborough Beach, which is a jewel among beaches in Maine. It is spacious home and has lots of different rooms for multi-activities, is clean, has a well-stocked kitchen, and so near the beach that you can hear the surf! Wonderful!

Genuine home on a great beach.
A comfortable, spacious house on a quiet circle, with beautiful woods out back and a lovely beach just yards away. A great location - walking distance to Black Point, and close to Cape Elizabeth, and Portland. I would stay again.

Great Location; Great Family Gathering Place
Scarborough Beach has been our kids favorite beach for the past 30 years. Now it's THEIR kids favorite beach! But they live far, far away, so what better place to gather than ON SCARBOROUGH BEACH?! Beach time morning noon and night. The house is extremely accommodating, clean and comfy. Hope we can make it happen again.

Great place for families
The house is a bit tired but you can't beat the space and short walk to Scarborough Beach. The quiet neighborhood invites you to relax and enjoy what Maine has to offer. Walking south on the beach to 'cliff walk' is a must for those who can handle a gentle four mile stroll. The views from the rocks are beautiful and you can't beat the smell of the salt air.
The house could use more updated kitchen utensils and flatware but otherwise a wonderful place for large family get togethers.

Great home for families
We recently traveled to Maine for a family reunion. This house is located on a private road across the street from a lovely beach. We liked the layout of the house--private master suite located on one level and three bedrooms and a bath on the lower level. It was great to have two family rooms so the kids could have their own play area. The kitchen was well equipped. Only thing we wished for was a bath tub in the lower level since the one bath/shower was small. Overall, the rental exceeded our expectations. We hope to return next year.

Peaceful and Relaxing
I came to Maine lifelong friends to celebrate our 60th birthdays. It turned out to be the perfect place for us. We absolutely loved our stay at this home. There were only 4 of us and there was so much space we could have easily escaped for some alone time if needed. We spent time in each room, we especially loved the sun room for our evening meals or happy hour. There were plenty of games and books to keep us entertained in our down time. Our favorite feature was the proximity of the gorgeous beach. We loved the short walk to the beach , to stroll along the beach or simply watch the waves, fishermen and birds. It was the perfect way to unwind each day after touring the the area. The kitchen was well stocked but the dishes were a little less than clean and the drawers could use some repair work as they would drop when you pulled them out. Those two things were easily remedied by washing the dishes before we used them and carefully opening the drawers. We visited Two Lights State Park which was just a short drive, it was beautiful park with walking trails and a wonderful view of the rocky shoreline. We had lunch at the Lobster Shack near the park. The lobster roll and blueberry pie were delicious and the view was breathtaking. I would definitely recommend this home and would stay there again if I am lucky enough to visit Maine again.

Very comfortable with all of the amenities required.
Wonderful home within steps of a great walking or jogging beach. A great selection of cooking utensils for making your own meals. A car is required as it is a couple of miles to grocery stores and restaurants. Portland is a short easy drive to get to the main dockside area. We did a tour in an old converted fire truck which gave us a good history lesson and got to see the city also. We ate breakfast at Beckys diner (as that's my wifes name) and the lobster omelet is wonderful. We also drove down to Kennebunkport and ate at Allison's and would highly recommend the lobster mac&cheese. The house had two and a half bathrooms and a washer and dryer which came in very handy with the two young children. Valerie was very easy to contact and very accommodating. Thank you for the use of your lovely home.

Not enough nice things can be said about this home.
I was in Maine for my son's wedding and did not want to be in a hotel room for the long weekend. We pooled together a group of family find a calm refuge from the insanity.
This house was perfect. TONS of room. The sun porch was great for breakfast, the kitchen large and functional. My wife and I had the master suite with its oversized bathroom.
The house was light and airy.
I love going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves and that we got.
The beach is a short walk away and lovely.
Two Lights. Go there. Get the lobster.
N'uff said.

Experience exceeded our expectations!
We recently stayed at this property on Kirkwood Circle in Scarborough Beach, Maine. We will be back! This was our first trip to Maine and the state is breathtaking. The house is perfectly located on a quiet street and just a minute walk to a private beach. It is in a safe area so we were all very comfortable outside.
The beach was not busy and the views were gorgeous. We also enjoyed the size of the house with many options for enjoying the outdoors and nature.
We highly recommend the house and this beach in the beautiful state of Maine! The weather was "picture perfect!"

Quintessential Maine Home~!
We had a wonderful stay in this Quintessential Maine Home! It was across the street from an amazing beach. We could walk to Prouts Neck Beach.
The home has 4 bedrooms and a verywell equiopped kitchen. The family rooms were large enough to sit all of us. The home was very clean and had ample towels and bed linens. Our favorite restaurant was the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth. We actaully went more than once! Thank you Valerie for a wonderful home, and answering all my emails so quickly! We will surely visit again when in the area.

Location, Location, Location!
We live in the Boston area, and have been vacationing in Maine all our lives. I can safely say that this location is if not at the top of the list, it is in the top 5!!
The house is warm and friendly. It is as advertised! Roomy enough with many rooms to get comfortable, and many rooms to gather for conversation and have activities with family and friends. Well appointed, well decorated, plenty of towels etc.etc. Very close to Portland and all the wonderful restaurants and tourists activities. When I referenced Location - I mean, it is a very short walk to the beach. And when I say beach - I mean almost a private beach. Unlike beaches further north in Maine, this beach is more swim friendly. We give this home 5 Stars! because in looking up the definition of
"Home Away from Home" - there is a picture of this house.

Valerie's rental was just perfect for what we were looking for. My friends and I were able to stay comfortably in the house with close proximity to Portland and the rental rate is very reasonable. The area surrounding the house is beautiful with the perfect location. I would definitely recommend this rental to others.

My family stayed here the end of September and into the first week of October. We were all very pleased with the location of the property and the beach was very nice as well. The house was able to accommodate all of us (8) although their seemed to be enough places for 10 people to sleep( which we had) we weren't allowed to have that many which made some members of our family have to stay in a hotel. We were told that the water was on septic so we had to be extremely careful of the water usage. We had a family anniversary party there and it held a large group of people very comfortably and everyone remarked about how nice the house was and it was just perfect! I would recommend this house it was very nice and quiet and relaxing. I only wished on Saturday when you arrive you would be able to check in at noon not 4pm as you miss that whole day. Thank you for a great place and the weather was perfect!! Love Maine
