About this bed and breakfast

Tantallon was the historic seat of the Douglas's in the Scottish Highlands. You will feel some of that highland spirit when you stay at Tantallon in Berry and gaze out at the escarpment across the gentle slopes of Bundewallah valley. It's only a five-minute drive from the Berry township and 15 minutes from the spectacular Seven Mile Beach.

So come, stay and relax in one of the greenest places in Australia. Sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the many species of birds as they sail on the valley thermals. Take in the peaceful quietness of the countryside and watch the colours of the sky change as evening falls. If it's hot, cool off in the salt-water pool. Bring your swimmers and beach towels.

ACCOMMODATION

Tantallon, set on seven acres of sloping pastureland, is luxurious self-contained accommodation attached to the main homestead. It has its own private entrance into a spacious living and dining area with a modern fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom with a queen size bed, has a luxury en-suite, a bath for two and separate walk-in shower. Off the living area are two additional bedrooms, each with queen beds, and a second bathroom with bath and shower.

Please note when booking for two guests you will have access to one bedroom, for three or four guests you will have access to two bedrooms. If you require extra rooms for single guests, there is an additional charge of AUD $40 per room per night. For five or six guests, all three bedrooms will be open.

For those who wish to explore the area, bring your hiking boots. There are established walking tracks: but it all depends on how energetic you are. If you prefer to stay indoors, there is digital television, Foxtel including the sports channels, and a DVD player with an extensive collection of DVDs.
There are also excellent restaurants, wineries and coffee shops within a five minute drive.

PETS
For those with pets (dogs or cats) we recommend Petcharm Lodge which is only five minutes from Tantallon. Your pet will be pampered during your stay (and their's) and you are able to visit them regularly if desired. For more details "google" 'petcharmlodge'.

MASSAGE
There is a separate massage room and an in-house therapist is available by appointment. To pre-book your massage, include a request in your booking enquiry.

Myself and two friends chose Tantallon for our semi-regular long weekend getaway. By far it's been our favourite stay to date. While only a few minutes by car from Berry town, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and we were able to relish the quiet surrounds while enjoying some down time The home is comfortable (and, ideally for three adults, had queen beds in each room), the grounds are gorgeous and we loved being able to spend time in the pool. Geoffrey and Penny are delightful hosts, always available but never intrusive, and made sure we were always comfortable. We'd love to stay at Tantallon again in the future.

The accommodation is immaculate, has everything you need and the most sublime outlook which makes you never want to leave. The pool is an added bonus. We spent 2 weeks at Tantallon and loved every minute of it. We are usually fairly busy on our holidays but because the property was so beautiful and relaxing, we didn’t do much apart from relaxing and enjoying the pool. Geoff and Penny are terrific hosts, the pool is beautiful and the accommodation very comfortable.

My family & I spent a lovely 2 days at Tantallon. The view is awesome, and Geoff & Penny were very helpful and friendly. We had a very nice afternoon around the pool. Berry is a short 5 minute drive away. We also enjoyed walking up to a nearby rainforest waterfall. Would definitely recommend.

Geoff and Penny were great hosts, with eggs from the farm and other essentials on arrival, and an easy going friendly welcome. We loved the quiet and the views, and we did a fair bit of swimming in the pool. All in all a great stay - the only minor distraction a somewhat noisy aircon for the lounge and main bedroom - other rooms have ducted aircon.

Our family had a lovely, restful weekend at Tantallon. We loved the scenic views and the peacefulness of the surrounding nature. Rolling green hills surround this beautiful home which was so close to Berry and had everything we needed. We loved the peace and quiet, being able to have our own room each and the breakfast provisions were wonderful including eggs from their chooks. Wonderful stay and view of green mountains. Green everywhere. Appreciated the nice touches like eggs, bacon and lots of coffee. Hosts were very nice Great entertainment set-up. Easy drive into town. This was a perfect spot to spend one night (a rare event to be able to book only one night on a weekend!) for two couples. We were greeted by a lovely blue tongue lizard in the garden, and then had a few hours relaxing and looking over the gorgeous valley. Geoff was very welcoming and made sure we had dinner reservations and helped us find a taxi. The two queen rooms were very comfortable and the two bathrooms were a treat. Geoff put the makings of breakfast in the fridge for us - home grown eggs, bacon, jams and bread! Nespresso coffee is on hand as well. The kitchenette has all the utensils that we needed. What a lovely place to spend some time - I hope we will get back there!

Tantallon turned out to be the perfect getaway from Sydney for a weekend with 2 adults and 4 children (aged 8 to 12). Beautiful, peaceful surroundings and super-friendly hosts which added to the relaxed feeling of the place. The children loved the pool, meeting the dogs, horses and poney - and even an echidnae! We also appreciated the breakfast supplies in the morning for our kids' hungry tummies. The location 5 min from Berry and 15 min from the beach is perfect. We hope to come back again and stay longer next time. I've already recommended it to many friends :)

We had the perfect experience at this property. The host made everything easy (even chauffeuring us the day after our event to pick up our car). The bed was large and super comfy, the view and serenity just gorgeous, and the apartment was lovely with everything you could need. Could not recommend highly enough.
