We had a great time staying in Marks property. The house was perfectly set up and a great space. It isn’t exactly walking distance to Kingfisher Bay as there is a very steep climb and the walk takes around 10-15 minutes, but if you speak to the resort reception you can take the courtesy bus.

The house is fantastic and set in a beautiful location. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were good. Communication with the owner was great. The cleanliness of the house was however extremely poor. Bathrooms, floors, windows, the deck and the kitchen were all dirty. We left the house cleaner than when we arrived. Considering the cost, we expected better.

This was the second time we had stayed at Kingfisher Heights but in two different houses. We had high expectations based on the pictures of the house and our first stay. With the experience I have in the travel & tourism industry, I am used to reviewing properties. Unfortunately, Sandy Escape did not meet expectations. The following were the main issues: - The property was quite unclean with piles of dirt left in the downstairs bathroom. - We advised there would be 10 adults staying but were only provided with 7 bath towels, even though information states bath towels are provided for all guests. - Only 2 burners on the 6 burner stove work. - The ice or cold water dispenser in the fridge did not work. - The media/tv room on the first floor was very dirty with stains on the couch and the blinds unable to be used due to being damaged. - All floors were very dirty. There is a broom but no dustpan and brush to be able to sweep up the sand/dirt. - Although hand soap containers were in both bathrooms and kitchen, they were empty and we needed to buy soap for them. - No dishwashing liquid was provided to be able to wash dishes. - They do provide dishwasher tablets for the 1 drawer dishwasher. - Not enough plates or cutlery for 10 adults. We were very disappointed with the state of the property and felt that it was a long way from being value for money. We would not be able to recommend this property. It is way overpriced for how it presents presently.

The property offered a big kitchen with all needed to prepare meals for 8-10 people. Comfortable beds and space for everyone. The owner was fantastic with responding to questions and resolving them in a timely manner.

Nice place and setting. Decent walk up steep hill to get there. Some basic pantry staples would’ve saved having to pack the kitchen sink. Comfortable beds, plenty of space.

Nice home but attention to cleanliness needs a lot of work. Windows dirty Pillows very stained, Sheets on King bed stained with bleach. Dead flys in all window and door tracks. Bedroom door didn't close so banged all night. think owner needs to visit more often if they want top dollar.

My family and I have stayed in different houses for the past 20 years at Fraser Island. Have always been completely happy, have always been told the cleaner had a faster job as we had left it so clean. This time we stayed at Sandy Escape for 6 nights, owned by Mark Cabria. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. We arrived after 6hrs drive to take 30min to open front door as the lock in the door was deteriorated. The house was dirty, rum and coke cans on the floor, sand. Sheets and towels had not been washed, smelt of sweat. Bathrooms dirty, hair in sink, body hair and soap in shower. Fridge dirty (had to clean) oven dirty (had to wipe out). We had driven from Brisbane, it was late so just proceeded to wash sheets to have a clean sleep. Decided to not call owner, dealt with it and decided we would call on our return to let him know cleaner had not done their job. Left the house cleaner then we arrived, as we do with all holiday houses. Arrived home to have an email from owner saying the house was a mess, door to bathroom and been waterdamanged (something that is impossible in 6 days, would need the house to have been flooded to do such a thing) Told we had broken window lock. Something we didnt open as we didnt have a key?? Told we had soiled doona cover, and it would need to be replaced. (Doona covers had not been washed in a very long time). The house is not being maintained, its deteriorating and the owner I believe is using bond from each booking to pocket. Not even using the bond to maintain his property. There are many houses as Fraser, we have stayed in a lot of different houses. I highly suggest you stay away from Sandy Escape as you will be very disappointed. I asked for Owner and cleaners full name, abn, phone number 3 times, he refuses to give me details. Im tired of people like this thinking they can take advantage of others, I will continue till my bond is returned.

More things can be improved

Floor is not cleaning. Not enough essentials provided for 9 guests, less than 1/3 roll of toleit paper left in each toliet. No proper cleaning cloth in the kitchen and not enough dishwash liquid left for 3 nights. Location is very good, no wifi, but is in the signal coverage

The property had a nice views of trees, on the other side of the road from the spectacular ocean views, set 15 minutes walk from the resort down (and then up) a steep hill. The beds were all good but the kitchen was very poorly set up with only 7 plates (some chipped) and 7 bowls for a house of 10. Pots and pans were old, falling apart and mostly unusable. Set top box on downstairs tv was broken and DVD player would not work - so the kids tv area wasn't used. The speaker for playing music was was also broken, as well as the flick mixer on the downstairs bathroom. The communications with the owner was patchy, with issues being disputed, rather than resolved. Overall, the property had potential if it was better cared for and some money spent on basics, but unfortunately in its current state it doesn’t represent decent value for money.

Great holiday house

The house is conveniently located within Kingfisher Bay Resort. The owner is responsive and only a phone call / text away. The house fit our travel group of eight perfectly (four adults and four kids aged 2-5). The indoor fireplace was a lovely touch for cool winter evenings. We had a great time and would definitely consider staying in this property again.

a house able to sleep 10 people should have a dishwasher! This is a big fail. Also no fans or aircon means hot days are hotter than they should be. BBQ on deck ran out of gas after one use so this obviously wasn't checked and filled for our stay. All the utensils plates cups were dirty and we had to wash them b4 using. Nothing in the way of extra blankets or pillow etc. Overall it was basic. Could find better value for money elsewhere. Too expensive all things considered.

Thank you Mark for a wonderful house on Fraser Island. The house was amazing, everything was catered for. Perfect spot for a relaxing holiday with the family. We made good use of the bbq and the kitchen facilities. The beds are very comfortable with clean bathrooms. Spent our nights on the deck admiring the scenic view. We really enjoyed our time on Fraser, very hard to leave such a wonderful place and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful property, well maintained but one bed had sand in it ... but we were offered a credit as they couldn’t service that room for us. We couldn’t find a corkscrew or hairdryer so bring your own if needed. Otherwise the kitchen was well-equipped. Overall a very good experience and Fraser Island is just amazing. We used the Kingfisher Bay Resort facilities for meals (excellent food in all the restaurants) and we joined up with lots of activities there too. It was a great few days in a beautiful paradise.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Comfortably accommodated our two families with everything you need. Great to explore the island and come back to a comfortable nights sleep, ready to do it all again the next day. Full access to Kingfisher Resort facilities, swimming pool, bars, restaurants. We visited Eurong, Ngkala Rocks, Champagne Pools and Lake mcKenzie. Would highly recommend and Renee was lovely to deal with!

Fantastic stay

Spent 4 night at Sandy Escape and wished we could stay longer. The property is lovely, we felt right at home and has absolutely everything you need. 2 families with 8 people but never felt crowded or like we were tripping over each other. Fraser Island is a beautiful location and the house is a great base at Kingfisher Bay. We spent the days exploring the island and the resort, and knew we had a lovely home to come back to at the end of a long, bumpy day - with very comfy beds! Thanks for having us!

We had a lovely time staying at Sandy Escape on Fraser Island. Renee was always very responsive with any of our questions - thank you. The home was very clean and had everything you would need, right down to the welcome tea/coffee that was left for us. Beds were comfortable and the "rain" shower was awesome. The only thing that the home was missing was a kitchen table - while it was warm during the day the nights/evenings were cool, so we couldn't eat our meals out on the beautiful deck. And my boys would have liked a dishwasher so they didn't need to wash up each night :-)

Sandy Escape is second to none. It has it all! Perfect location, close to everything. The property is very clean and well-maintained, definitely the best of the lot! This is a great spot to stay on Fraser Island the easy way. A full wheel appointed kitchen Nice big deck to enjoy the bush views and a glimpse of the bay. The house is very new and clean Bedrooms good size.
