We enjoyed the cabin atmosphere and visiting the ducks, the waterfall, and the airfield sunset. Thanks!

We were lucky enough to arrive to blanket of snow and had snow fall our first night BEAUTIFUL. Tom made sure we had dry fire wood and delicious farm fresh eggs. We hiked miles on both the property and the state park. The trek down the cliff to see the waterfall was worth the effort. Very quiet and peaceful property.

We had a really fun weekend at the cabin with the family and my parents. The bedrooms were perfect sized and the cabin was rustic and beautiful. We enjoyed fishing at the lakes and walking to the waterfall. Plenty to do and loved being escorted around by the friendly ducks.

Cabin was clean and comfortable and well equipped for a weekend stay. Welcomed to the cabin by Major Tom who was helpful and gave good advice on things to do. Nice natural areas to walk or bike from the cabin; scenic territory to drive around; lots of stars visible at night; satellite TV available; internet almost nonexistent so don't plan to work there; we were concerned about using the unvented fireplace but at least there were CO monitors and some electric heaters in bedrooms; bring some ground or instant coffee if you are a coffee drinker; no stores nearby (have to go to White Haven) so do your shopping before arrival. Friendly ducks outside, saw some large turkeys too. Overall, a great place to relax for a few days, private and peaceful.

We only stayed at this amazing property for a weekend, but it was exactly what we needed. We stayed in the Fern Lodge. It was beautiful and the property was full of places to hike and explore. They even have the cutest ducks that you can feed right out of your hand!! It was so relaxing... really the perfect getaway.
Our host was great... so friendly and knowledgeable. Also very accessible for any and all of our needs. He even gave us fresh eggs from his chickens for our breakfast. Delicious!!
We fell in love with this place... it really felt like a home away from home. We were all sad to leave, but we will def be going back to visit again!!

We had a wonderful and memorable stay. If you enjoy the quiet wonder of nature with a personal touch from Major Tom, then this is the vacation for you.
We travelled with two small boys and as family we enjoyed hiking on the property, feeding the ducks (Major tom made sure kids had food each day), discovering waterfalls and making bonfire every night. Once you arrive at the cabin, you have everything you need and don't want to leave. The view from both cabin is the best. Best part having your morning coffee on the balcony with brook running in background. It's been the best and most relaxing vacation we had in last eight years. We didn't feel the need for internet or technology nor our children. Disconnected from reality and truly recharged, enjoyed our children, our friends and this little paradise. We have enjoyed table games they have. Major Tom's personal touch made a huge difference, constant check in to ensure we have everything we need, from wood, duck food and answered all the questions we may had bout the area- made us feel like home away from home. We enjoyed his company and goodies what he brought for our boys. Thank you for a special welcome to our veterans from our group.
Thanks again Major Tom, you made us feel so welcome, that personal touch is what made our stay so wonderful.
Sincerely, the Davids

We had a great stay at the Fern Cabin and would absolutely come back to this property.

The property was beautiful inside and out. The furniture was so neat, but not too practical nor comfortable. There were crumbs in the refrigerator drawers and some of the cupboards, but the rest was clean. There was a pair of underwear on the back deck which concerned us a bit. The view from the back deck was really nice. The spiral stairs were so beautiful and neat, but they were tough for the older (age 70+) adults. There was duck food to feed the very friendly ducks which the kids loved. The kayaks on the pond worked well, but the paddle boat only went in one direction and wouldn't steer. It was within reasonable distance of the attractions. If you're a bigger/taller person, you'll struggle in the small shower. It was weird not having a key to lock the door. If you're planning on being outside more than inside, you're good to go. The kitchen light was working when we got there and the property manager worked hard to get in fixed within 30 minutes. We appreciated that.

The cabin, its surroundings, and the welcoming host Major Tom were all exactly what we hoped they would be. The cabin is large and very well-maintained, and stocked with everything you may need for a fun and comfortable stay. Towels and linens were plentiful, clean and relatively new. There are 2 decks with swinging chairs and a great grill, and a front porch. The pool table in the basement was popular with my sons. There are multiple ponds on the property and we caught a bunch of fish. We had a fire almost every night at the well-stocked fire pit, and enjoyed hiking to the nearby waterfall. This summary wouldn't be complete without mentioning our host Major Tom who provided a great deal of information about activities, restaurants, etc and brought us fresh eggs and vegetables from his garden. He has some great stories and a very interesting background. The smiles on my sons' faces were all I needed to confirm that this vacation will be a lasting memory for all of us. Oh, the only challenge was the Wifi. There was very little signal. But, I was happy to be off the grid. On 2 days we drove to Hazelton and used Wifi in restaurants for an hour or so. For us, this wasn't an issue.

Our family had a wonderfully relaxing stay in the Fern cabin. Everything was as expected and Major Tom went above and beyond to ensure our stay was relaxing and stress free. He treated us to fresh eggs from his chickens, local corn and many tips about the property and local area. The first few days of our trip were quite warm but the air conditioning in the cabin was more than adequate. We enjoyed feeding the ducks each morning, long walks on the property and mountain biking from our front door to the Lehigh Gorge Trail. The big sky, fresh air and silence were a welcomed change that made for a great week. We hope to visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fern Cabin. If you are looking for a place to connect with nature, then this property is the perfect fit. Major Tom is the best host. 🌲400acre of paradise🌲
We really enjoyed our stay at the Fern cabin it was our home for 3 days. And that is not enough time. I could easily live out there indefinitely. The quiet and the sounds of nature surround you. The clean crisp air. The creek behind the cabin, the trail the water fall. The numerous ponds and wonderful sunsets. Were some of the experiences we will cherish. And we cannot forget Major Tom. He was there shortly to greet you and be of service of anything you needed. Very sociable and knowledgeable you can easily engage on having a conversation with him. He helped us build a fire for the night and was helpful for anything we needed during our stay. I would love to return to spend more time in this beautiful property. Was able to zen and ground myself for my trip back home. Thank you for sharing a piece of paradise with us.-Vivian from the flatlands

What a weekend! We had the most wonder stay at Fern Cabin. Truly a place to enjoy nature and connect with Family. Major Tom was such a gracious host. He checked in on us and made sure we have the best time. Our requests were accommodated.
The cabin had such history and one of a kind. Each morning we wake to the sound of waterfall and birds. A short walk to trails and hidden waterfalls. The privacy and beauty of the place is unmatched.

Hidden gem
This cabin was absolutely beautiful. It was tucked in a quiet wooded area on top of a mountain. Sunset was breathtaking. The wood made furniture from the Philippines was stunning. The cabin was so relaxing and comfortable. Major Tom who was taking care of the property when we were there greeted us immediately & got us settled in. He brought us fresh eggs and showed our teen boys how to make a fire. He brought food for the ducks. We were in area for family emergency so we did not get a chance to venture out on the property but we plan on going back for a weekend getaway.
This is literally a hidden gem
Thanks to Major Tom for making our stay memorable

Weekend retreat with friends
The brookside lodge cabin was like a dream coming true to me. Situated on the hill with the brook singing at the back and vast green meadow in the front, it’s like a heaven of peace. The root sculpture furniture are stunningly gorgeous. The ducks come at the door every morning for food. Feeding them is such a fun thing. Major Tom is wonderful and very helpful. I hope more people come here to help maintain this beautiful piece of nature.

Great Getaway
We had a great stay at The Fern cabin. We were weekending with good friends and their 10 year old and dogs, and the property was all we imagined it to be and more. The major plusses: 400 beautiful acres to wander without worrying about others, especially great with dogs. The pond was great fun for the kids to swim in. We especially loved the zip line and access to the paddle boats, kayak and tubes. Plentiful firewood for evening fires. The path to the Lehigh Gorge Trail and the waterfall were great for hiking and biking. We enjoyed getting to know Major Tom and exchanging our thoughts on the current state of the world. Suggestions: a few updates to the kitchen (bowls and plastic cups, etc.) and indoor lighting would be great. It was quite dim at night and hard to see what you were doing. We had a few issues with windows that need repair. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and greatly appreciate the hospitality. We will return for sure!

Had an extraordinary time at the brook side lodges fern cabin. The property was breathtaking! Lots to do for my 10year old daughter and my husband and self. Had to time for activities and rest relaxation. The cabin was comfy and clean. Fresh linens and comfortable beds. Kitchen equipped with everything you will need during your stay. Tom was an amazing host! He made us feel comfortable and at home. He greeted us with farm fresh eggs and bacon and treated us as family. His hospitality and friendliness surpasses any host I have ever met before. Our family is already planning another trip back in the next few months.

Wonderful
Our family had a terrific time at the Fern Cabin. Many Fish were caught in the ponds. We hiked and swam in the pond with the ducks. The zipline was super fun and the sunset on the airstrip was not to be missed. Major Tom was a terrific host and kept us fully stocked with firewood for the firepit and food for the always hungry pair of ducks. We had a very relaxing getaway from it all.

Brookside: Beautiful and quiet - and also within 30-60 min of many activities (RECOMMENDED)
Beautiful property, 400 acres, great 50 foot waterfall on property about 10 minute walk (and then you can continue to the Lehigh, about another 10 min). Huge fields, just lie down and look up at the stars. Major Tom came around in the evening to start a bonfire for us, and also bring us fresh eggs from the barn. There's a whitewater rafting place about 10 min away, and various state parks and other activities within 30 minutes. Hershey Park is a bit further.... but there is more than enough to do in the area. There are several ponds, including one with a zipline over it (bring a bathing suit). There is limited internet reception in the area (depends on your service) - so do your internet work beforehand, and use this time to enjoy. Overall, highly recommended.

Relaxing Weekend Get-away!
The cabin was perfect, just as pictured. Perfect location, and property hosts were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed "getting away" from it all, and this was the perfect location. The property has great hikes, built in! We also enjoyed fishing and feeding the ducks onsite, and ventured out to Hickory Run, Boulder field and Jim Thorpe.

Awesome, a Gem!!
Great experience. The Ferns was clean, comfortable, and set in an amazing natural surrounding. I enjoyed wakening to the sounds of song birds each morning. Easy access to the Lehigh Trail was a huge plus. The family that owns and runs the property is top notch, kind, and caring. We look forward to returning.

Summer vacation
The cabin was beautiful. My family and I wanted to get away from the craziness around us and go somewhere secluded. This place gave us just that peace of mind and secluded from the crazy world around us. The kids had a blast at the pond which is located right at the cabins. The cabin was breath taking.

Friends getaway
This property was beyond what i expected it to be. Opening the door too the fern was breathtaking seeing al the beautiful decoration and furniture. The fern was clean the beds were comfortable and the property was stunning. We explored the few ponds on the property. The big pond closest to the fern was great for fishing and also relaxing on a boat or tube the water was very refreshing to swim in on a hot day and for the dare devils there is a zip line over this pond. We caught both rainbow trout and bass in the ponds. Major Tom on the property is a very big help, he told us the lay of the land and where everything is and what the property has to offer. He was a great help and always made sure that we were satisfied.
