About this house rental
Located just on the outskirts of Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages of France, Les Murets is an enchanting property that sits on seven acres of lavender, thyme and rosemary fields with sweeping views of the Luberon Mountains, a swimming pool, tennis court and pool house. Just fifteen miles east of Avignon, and forty miles from the Mediterranean, it is conveniently located within an hour's drive of the Marseille airport and the TGV train station in Avignon. The interior of the house has been completely gutted and decorated in soothing, comfortable and casually elegant neutral tones. The kitchen has a large island that is always command central, with a wonderful gathering place for people who want to socialize or help with dinner preparations. The terrace, with its large wrought iron table is the perfect place to enjoy long, leisurely dinners, overlooking the beautiful mountains in the distance and the valley below.
Arriving at Les Murets
When you arrive at Les Murets, you will be greeted first by our wonderful caretaker who lives down the street, and second, by the incredible smell of lavender that permeates the house's thick stone walls and causes just about everyone to say, 'Ahhh ....' as they walk through the door. It's a welcome feeling, especially after a long trip. Our caretakers, who love the property as their own and have been watching over it for the last twenty years, will show you around the house and property and go over how things work. If you are a little too jet lagged to take it all in, there is a detailed manual in English that you can pore over at your leisure, as you sit down and sip the wine that has been awaiting your arrival. If you would like a sneak preview of all the things to do at Les Murets, you may enjoy reading through our top 100 activities, which we will send you ahead of time, along with a suggested two-week itinerary that we have carefully curated and edited over the years.
Enjoying the Property
We jokingly say that Les Murets is like a mini resort. We're fortunate to have a beautiful large pool with ample space for swimming and sunbathing. There is also a private tennis court with a quick dry surface. And, for those wanting the full Peter Mayle experience, we offer a 'boules court' - but you must buy your own pastis (unless you request it from us ahead of time, in which case we are happy to accommodate). In addition to our favorite 100 activities, we probably enjoy most just sitting outside on the terrace, overlooking the Luberon Valley and the mountains in the distance, eating a delicious meal of fresh ingredients washed down with plenty of local wine from one of our favorite vineyards, in the company of friends and family. We spend much of our time on the terrace, from the time that it is bathed in sunshine in the morning, to the late evening when long shadows cover the lavender field and the Luberon mountain turns purple in the sunset.
Getting the Most out of your Stay
You could be perfectly happy staying home the whole time, but for those who want to be a little more active, we have put together a two week itinerary with suggestions for every single day, from morning to evening, based on market days, restaurant closings and other scheduling details. You really don't need to think about anything -- just get in the car and go. This way, you will enjoy the planning and the reliving stages almost as much as the actual trip. We also can make arrangements for catering meals, delivery upon your arrival, a private chef, babysitting, chauffeur, and many other services – all provided at an additional cost. Just let us know with at least one month's notice and we will make the arrangements for you.

We had a fantastic stay with our extended family, ages 9 - 82. Ann does a great job of communicating and giving suggestions for activities. Easy communication and prompt assistance from the house manager Melanie as well. Highly recommend this house: beautiful, relaxing, and well-appointed.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time at Les Murets! It is a beautiful property and the location is perfect to enjoy day trips to the surrounding villages. Ann is a delight to work with. The itinerary she shared was so helpful in planning our trip. It is even more beautiful than the pictures show. Highly recommend!

The house and grounds were everything you see in the photos and more… the house was beautifully decorated, well appointed with everything you could need and plenty of space for 9 people. The grounds thoughtfully designed and very well maintained, in a secluded location but still with easy access to villages and towns.
Hiking and cycling paths are located just off the road to the house giving you lots of places to explore. It truly could not have been better!
Communications with the owner and grounds keeper was easy and efficient and they helped us arrange a lovely dinner for us the first night prepared by Chantal. We had a group with a few food allergies and she worked magic to come up
with multiple, delicious dishes that everyone could enjoy.
All in all, a fantastic stay and I would come back in a heartbeat!

For many years we have traveled Europe extensively, mostly renting homes or apartments. It was the internet presentation of Les Murets, that made us choose this particular corner of Provence for our trip with a group of old friends. The moment we arrived at the house and were welcomed by Mélanie, one of the caretakers, we knew, that our expectations were to be exceeded in every respect. Ann has created an oasis of calm and beauty at Les Murets. The large property with its magnificent landscaping offers marvelous views in complete tranquility and the house itself has a relaxed elegance, where we felt at home immediately. All people we have encountered through Ann’s introductions to make our stay so memorable and magical, impressed us with their professional kindness and utter charm, which are second to none. 10+ out of 10 in all categories.

Though we've rented homes in Provence before, this was our first time at Ann's lovely home. The house is gorgeous and comfortable for lots of people. The modern kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed to make our stay easy. Ann and her caretakers are super-responsive. The location can't be beat. So many iconic Provencal towns are within 20 minutes, and there's a lovely village within easy walking for morning croissants. Good (though mildly strenuous) hiking right from the house. We really couldn't have asked for more. We'll definitely stay with Ann again when we return to Provence!

My girlfriends and I had an amazing stay at this simply gorgeous house. The house is tastefully decorated and the outside is so quiet and peaceful. From the moment we arrived we were so relaxed and comfortable. The pool is gorgeous and the stars at night are bright. The house is in a fabulous location. Everyday we drove to gorgeous medieval villages, wineries and sights. We hired a bike tour operator one day who took us on an amazing ride through the lavender and sunflower fields as well as some towns. The home comes with 2 caretakers who absolutely took care of us helping us book restaurants and other activities when our French failed us! The owner also sent us a detailed document on things to do which was extremely helpful for our planning. I literally had a dream about Les Murets my first night home. Please don’t hesitate to book this gorgeous home for your dream Provence vacation.

We stayed at Ann's house to reminisce about our time that we lived in Provence over twenty years ago. We loved her house and her guidelines for touring the area. We did a different day trip every day, seeing old friends and combining markets with shopping and eating. Our adult children are already talking about going back again. Ann's house and hospitality are five star all the way!

Quintessentially Provence! Beautiful house and grounds. Really enjoyed the quiet, the views, the garden, the pool and the incredible weather. Will definitely come back. Would recommend having a car for grocery runs and exploring the incredible little villages around the house.
Wonderful visit ! Many thanks for making it so special.

Read every word of all the positive reviews - then multiply them by a factor. This house, and the support staff associated with it, are all simply top notch. The tranquility, ease of living, spaciousness, and lovely decor make this feel so much more like a home than a house. We stayed two weeks - with two different sets of family and friends - and everyone was amazed. All of the bedrooms are quiet, and the house instructions are accurate, helpful and funny. I can only hope we have the opportunity to visit again!

Our recent stay at this property will go down as one of our most memorable! The view from the front terrace as the sun sets should not be missed! The house is beautifully styled and
Is prettier than pictured! The decor is warm and inviting, the kitchen well stocked, and Nicholas, the caretaker, was quick to respond to a minor problem! The owner has painstakingly curated the house such that every need of the guest is met!
The location was ideal for us to take day trips to surrounding villages, wineries, and markets! As prearranged, Chantal, delivered a wonderful dinner the night we arrived after a long day of traveling! I would definitely recommend doing that to any traveler who comes from far! The owner, offers many suggestions as to day trips, favorite restaurants, markets, etc. which we readily followed. You will not be disappointed in this rental!

We found Les Murets perfect for our family and friends to gather for our 25th Anniversary celebration in Provence. Our group of 11 adults and a 5 year old and 18month old had a great time. Room for all, we cooked in several nights. Many spacious bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms. All enjoyed the pool and tennis ( and even ping pong) despite the cooler than expected weather.
The stars are just amazing at night and the location ideal for day trips around the region. Avignon, to Aix tonArles, along with markets @nd villages our group covered it all.

This was my second trip to Les Murets, the first one three years ago, so was really looking forward to coming back and sharing with my family and friends. The home is beautifully appointed, and property and grounds are very well maintained. After a day at the markets, museums, vineyards, etc a quick dip in the pool was the BEST. The provides SO. MUCH HELPFUL information not just about their home, but a great sample itinerary to take advantage of the local attractions of which there are many. We had some really good cooks and the kitchen is very well appointed and a fun place to hang. Really was a treat, and would definitely return.

France house
The property was really beautiful with all the amenities ! We had a large group and we all had a comfortable bed.The home definitely lends itself to dining in vs. going to local restaurants since it is fairly remote and the roads to the house can be very confusing. Overall we all loved our time in Gordes and Melanie/Nicholas were very helpful whenever we had any questions. I would recommend this home to my friends and family in the future.

Absolute Perfection!
Let me preface this by saying we hate crowds and hate the heat, so staying in Gordes in October was absolutely perfect for my family. Most days were warm and sunny with cooler nights, the perfect weather for exploring the region. Our hardest decision was what to do every day as there is so much close to the house and so many day trips to enjoy a region that we did not know at all. The villa was so central and well-located that exploring was a breeze. One hint - mark the coordinates of the villa in your gps as google maps will only take you so far and the little roads look the same at night. Back to the house - there is absolutely nothing that has not been thought of. The property is beautiful and well-cared for, the house was spotless and tasteful and adults and children could be entertained all day with the pool (closed for our visit), tennis courts, ping pong table, games, gourmet kitchen. etc etc. Every detail has been thought of - down to a plethora of scissors for every use possible:) . The house is spacious and could easily fit 12 people. My husband loved the bed so much we have asked the most helpful caretaker for the brand of the mattress. While some attractions had adjusted hours, we were so happy to avoid the intense crowds and heat of the summer. One of our favorite activites was a truffle hunt and tasting. Given the setting and location of the house, I would highly suggest spending two plus weeks here. There is so much to do and see, but mostly you will want to just enjoy the house!!

Best Views in an Incredible Home
Just spent a week in Provence and staying in this lovely home. It makes for the perfect home away from home in the most beautiful setting with fantastic interior spaces. The kitchen is large with wonderful island for sitting as well as cooking. Comfortable living room. Love the decor and especially enjoy the terrace and outdoor lounge area. It is perfect and so nice to come back to after each day of touring Provence.

This is living!
We had a wonderful week at Les Murets. The home is exceptionally well appointed and lays out beautifully. The property and views are stunning, well landscaped, but unfortunately the weather prevented us from taking advantage of the pool and tennis court. But it is not just the property,, the owner provides excellent guidance for what to do and where to go to take advantage of Provence, its nearby charming villages and their markets, which really enhanced our visit. I would definitely go back!

A Paradise in Provence
The photos do not do justice to this beautiful home. I was there on a girls trip with five friends, and we loved everything about this house. It is beautifully furnished and equipped with all that was needed for a wonderful week. The owner is a dream to deal with and provided us with very useful information about the area to make this a perfect vacation. While we enjoyed visiting many of the local villages and wineries, it was always so relaxing to come back and enjoy our evenings at the house. The views are absolutely amazing. I only wish that it had been warmer so that we could have used the pool. We ended up using five of the bedrooms and the loft, and we were all happy with our rooms. All were in beautiful condition and very comfortable. The same can be said for the bathrooms. All had great showers with plenty of hot water. This is one of the top rentals that I've had, and I look forward to returning in the future.

Wow! What a splendid find in the heart of Provence!
Our group of three couples adored Les Murets. We have traveled extensively and rented many homes. Les Murets ranks at the top! It is beautifully appointed, quite cosy and comfortable, and very well equipped. We lacked for nothing.
While the home is wonderfully secluded on its own 7 acres, it is within a short drive of lovely villages in every direction. There are great walking trails to explore and activities galore. We loved picking up croissants for breakfast and fare to grill for each night's dinner. The outdoor grill was put to great use!
When not exploring nearby villages and enjoying terrific restaurants for lunch, most of our time was spent on the beautiful terrace overlooking the Luberon and by the fabulous pool. By the way, the owners have provided extensive information about everything you need to know (e.g. restaurants, grocers, day trips, vineyards) -- all extremely helpful.
All in all, an extraordinary home and a lovely holiday. Our group is already planning a return to Les Murets.

Wonderful home in the best location for touring Provence!
The beauty and tranquility of the home and surroundings make this home the perfect place for exploring Provence. The owner has provided much care and attention to detail to make this a comfortable home away from home. From the relaxing terrace and garden furniture to the nice interior decor and large kitchen it makes for a great house for 4 couples with room to spare. Our group of 7 women found it to be the perfect spot.
The owner also provides itinerary recommendations and has a support team to make your visit stress free. We took advantage of daily housekeeping services which were very inexpensive as well as a local cook who made the most delicious dinners for us each evening.
Was a wonderful week in Provence and I highly recommend Les Muret.

Beautiful Mas
Ann's house is one for people that love beautiful things. The house is very well equipped and very well decorated with antiques all around the house. Everything was built beautifully and tastefully. The only ting for us was that the outside space would need a bit of maintenance, especially for the price. We hired the cook Ann is suggesting for 2 nights and it was absolutely delicious.

We loved Les Murets. For our family group of nine adults, it was perfect. We liked the feeling of a real home, we immediately felt comfortable. Having our first meal catered and organised by Ann was a treat. Nicolas and family looked after us during our stay, it was good to have them on hand. We loved the sense of space both inside and out. Plenty of seating areas outside meant one could find privacy easily or join in around the pool. We had very hot weather, ate outside every day, either near the pool or on the terrace. We couldn't fault Ann's service and responsiveness or anything about the house. We hope to return.

Wonderful week at gorgeous Provence home
Hi Ann,
We just had to tell you that we had such a wonderful time at Les Murets. Your home was so gorgeous! It is even more beautiful than the pictures. It is also so homey and comfortable.
Once we settled in, we went over your suggestions for daily activities. We used it as our guide all week. It was wonderful.
We went to the market in Coustellet and bought some produce. Then we headed to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. That market was wonderful. We bought some items there and then had a really nice lunch in a little outdoor restaurant on the canal.
Every day was beautiful and we did so much - went to the markets you suggested, great restaurants and shopped. We went to the Lavender Museum and the grocery stores Utile in Cavaillon and Super U in Coustellet.
We loved the Gordes Market and spent hours there. We all bought clothes, tablecloths, oil paintings, gifts, etc. and ate at an adorable little restaurant near the castle, Creperie De Fan and then went to Roussillon which we loved and stopped at a Winery, Domaine de Tara on the way home.
We went to Saint Remy and ate in a cute little restaurant in town, L’Aile Ou La Cui. We went to Mausole St. Paul.
We spent a day in the walled city in Avignon. And we went to Fontaine de Vaucluse. That town was so lovely.
Your suggestions were so helpful. We tried to explore on our own too. We spent a lot of time getting lost and driving around the roundabouts. In doing so, we came upon some beautiful scenery and places. And we met the most wonderful people. Everyone everywhere we went was so nice and friendly.
We absolutely loved Provence and staying in Les Murets. We were all sorry that we didn’t have two weeks at Les Murets. We didn’t spend nearly enough time in your beautiful home. We were just settling in and getting used to everything when it was time to leave.
We all hope to go back. It was one of the best vacations we ever had.
Thank you Ann for your hospitality and please thank Nicholas again for everything. He was great!

An idyllic week
Hello Ann,
We are just back to Boston after an absolutely delightful stay at your gorgeous home, and I wanted to make sure you know how much we all have loved our time there.
The house is every bit as charming and comfortable as we were expecting from the info we had seen, and then some.
The perfect views, incredible autumn colors, ideal temperature, great location made for an idyllic week. You know that when the only thing we thought was missing (or could not find) was a potato peeler, there was not much to complain about…
I do not want to end without mentioning how wonderfully welcoming and helpful Nicolas has been (he even got some delicious truffle for us).
Thanks for providing the setting for a vacation we will remember fondly.
