About this house rental
Look no further than this charming, historic Uptown 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home only one block from bustling Oak Street, two blocks from where the streetcars run, and a ten minute walk to the Mississippi River where Carrollton Street meets the breathtakingly beautiful St. Charles Avenue. Known to locals as the Riverbend, this neighborhood has everything you need to experience the magic of New Orleans as if you were one of us. From outstanding restaurants to fantastic live music venues, this is a neighborhood where culture bubbles up from the streets. No need for a car... Walk and take the streetcar everywhere from this extremely convenient location. An excursion on the streetcar to the French Quarter will afford you some of the most magnificent scenery in all of New Orleans as you pass by the majestic live oaks and opulent mansions lining this thoroughfare.
Built in 1930, this spacious, classic New Orleans home boasts vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and hand-carved fleur-de-lis. It is one story, so stairs need not be a concern for more mature (or weary) travelers. There are two large living rooms, each with two plush fold down sofas sleepers for additional guests (linens provided). The front living area is open to the kitchen, making it a perfect common area for meal or social time. The kitchen bar offers seating for five in addition to the kitchen table which has seating for four. Additional seating in the living area easily seats eight. The living room at the rear of the house is equipped with a privacy door, allowing children or early evening snoozers to go to sleep behind closed doors without being disturbed by remaining guests who prefer additional socializing. The master bedroom offers a king sized Tempurpedic mattress with queen sized beds in the second and third bedrooms. All beds are made with high quality linens, comforters, and pillows, and all bedrooms are completely private with no shared “loft type” open ceilings or walk through “shotgun” spaces so commonly found in New Orleans. (Note: If utilizing the rear living room's fold down sofas as beds, one does walk through to get to the master bedroom.) With natural light entering every room through the oversized windows, you will enjoy the blackout curtains to facilitate a late morning in bed. There are flatscreen TVs in both living rooms and the master bedroom, a stereo system with top-of-the-line Klipsch speakers, and free high speed internet access. An eight year renovation was completed in February 2017, so you can expect a modern, fully stocked kitchen with all new appliances. A repurposed wooden conference table acts as a countertop in the kitchen, and the renovation included brand new HVAC systems and ceiling fans in each room, offering comfort during our hot summer days. Our inviting rear brick courtyard, created from four original chimneys that were removed from the structure during renovations, offers seating for five and is the perfect place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or as a gathering spot for your group in the evenings to have a glass of wine and share stories of the day's adventures.
Located on mellow Dante Street, just five houses off of Oak Street, you can smell Jacques-Imo’s mouthwatering New Orleans’ style food while sitting on the front porch as it’s only a half block away. Be sure to make dinner reservations well in advance for a Tuesday night, order the shrimp and alligator cheesecake appetizer (yes, it’s a real thing), then walk next door to dance with the locals while watching Grammy award winning Rebirth Brass Band perform at the Maple Leaf Bar. Also around the corner, don't miss dinner at DTB for some of the best food you can put in your mouth! Sample several small and large plates and share it all with the table. Continuing down the street is Oak (wine bar), Ale on Oak (craft beer bar), Mellow Mushroom, Truburger, Phobistreaux (Vietnamese), Ninja Sushi, and Frenchy's Gallery, as well as three coffee shops. (We recommend Zots.) For guests with children, you are less than a mile away from the Audubon Park and Zoo, and during the spring and summer months be sure to venture up to Plum Street Snoballs, one of the oldest snoball stands in the city, for a real local treat. We recommend getting yours with condensed milk. (Snowcones are nothing compared to this!)
The brief eight to ten block walk towards the river will take you past several local favorites as well, with choices as varied as the culture of this incredible city. The Camellia Grill, an institution around these parts, is easily the best diner in the city. Satsuma is a farm fresh breakfast option, and Refuel is also a popular choice. Visit Vincent’s (Italian), Dante’s Kitchen (modern Louisiana fare), Brigston’s (Creole), and Ba-Chi Canteen or Jazmine Café (Vietnamese). If you’re looking for a place for a cocktail, don’t miss New Orleans Daiquiri’s, Cooter Brown’s (order an Abita Andygator, but be careful… they sneak up on you!), or Madigan’s is always a solid choice with their outdoor patio.
In the other direction up Carrollton are live music venues The Willow and Carrollton Station, as well as Boucherie (contemporary Southern cuisine), and Lebanon’s Café (Middle Eastern fare). All of this just scratches the surface of what’s available in this “Sliver by the River” walkable neighborhood. We look forward to having you fall in love with New Orleans, just as we continue to do every day!
Please note: This is a smoke-free home. Absolutely no smoking is permitted inside. Also, while we are fans of four-legged friends, we ask politely that you please leave your pets at home.

We stayed here with a group of girls during Mardi Gras and I couldn't have better things to say. The house is in a great location, near many restaurants/shops/bars and is even more spacious than it looks in the photos. The host was great from the moment we booked it until after we left. He was communicative, helpful, and very knowledgable about New Orleans. We highly recommend this rental!

The house is great, with plenty of space for family and friends. Don't be fooled by the picture on VRBO - the inside is big and well equipped. The neighborhood is fun, accessible, and offers great food, fun shops, and a variety of activities. The owners were very helpful and available. The location allows you to go to the French Quarters, hop on the trolly, go to the river, the Zoo, and other places to enjoy. Olivia

Very nice host, quiet neighborhood but extremely close to the streetcar and cute shops, great spacious place that fits a large group comfortably. Would definitely stay here again!

House is nicely redone inside. Plenty of room for everyone. The owner is very nice and replies quickly to any questions or concerns you may have. Comfortable beds, and was well cleaned when we arrived. The house is located within walking distance of some bars, as well as some good restaurants. If you are looking for a place to stay away from the craziness of Bourbon Street, this is it. Only 2 blocks from a streetcar stop that can take you down to the French Quarter. Would surely stay here again.

Our family of nine stayed at the Dante Street house in great comfort. The house is much bigger than you expect. The interior design is perfect for privacy even with a large group. It is convenient to most everything, walkable to Oak Street restaurants, music, the Plum Street snowball stand and the streetcar.
Sitting on the front porch in the sun, I enjoyed greeting the people who walked by. The parking space off the street was especially appreciated and there was room for a second vehicle on the street. We would definitely go back next time we are in New Orleans!

Dante's Paradise is fabulous. The location is central to all things New Orleans and Mark is a wonderful host. The house was clean and very spacious. We had everything we needed plus more. Our group of eight was more than pleased. We will absolutely be back!

We came to NOLA for Krewe du Vieux weekend and stayed in Mark's home. Our group consisted of folks that had lived in New Orleans for a few years to first timer's in the city... and folks coming in from at least 5 different states! The purpose of our trip was a bachelorette party, but we were also celebrating two birthdays alongside our bride to be. It was really a great getaway with friends.
The house was easy to access for all our folks coming from the airport and slept all ten of us comfortably. The photos of the house do not do it justice! The architecture was amazing and very true to the NOLA vibe. There was plenty of music and good food near the house, but also was close to the streetcar, which we took to the quarter for the parade.
Mark was very welcoming and made us feel right at home! He was flexible in working with our check-in time so we could throw up some decorations before the other guests arrived. Would absolutely recommend his place to groups visiting!

Mark was a great host. My wife, as well her family and I stayed at his place. It was the perfect location; the neighborhood was very nice, and quiet, which was great for our needs as we had kids traveling with us.
The rooms were great, and the house was more than enough to comfortably fit 8 adults, 2 kids and a toddler.
If you are looking for an alternative to the French Quarter scene, his place is the perfect spot!
