We were here for the month for my teenage daughter’s beach volleyball. The location for us was perfect between Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. With the bike path one street down, everything was accessible for us! It truly is just a block and a half from the beach!
The accommodations were cozy and just perfect for our group of two. The refrigerator and stove top allowed us to cook small meals in and having beach chairs and an umbrella provided for us were wonderful. What I hadn’t realized when I booked was there was actually a second room with a futon couch that could be converted into a bed! And of course, there’s also a pullout couch in the main room. So lots of room.
As the upstairs apartment is tucked away, usually everything was extremely quiet. It should be noted that the main bedroom is located right over the garage, so the rare early morning departures of the owners auto will be audible to those there. But we used it as a wake up call to get up and take a nice walk on the strand before the heat of the day. And although there was occasional weekend, noise from the buildings around, usually they did honor that 10 o’clock quiet hours.
Communication with our hosts was completely done by texts, which worked out extremely well, as Nancy always responded extremely quickly. I think I missed my one chance to meet her when I was running upstairs with a slight emergency. I apologize for that!
We had a great time staying here. Highly recommend!

The apartment was fabulous. Great location. John met us on arrival and gave us all information needed. Can’t speak highly enough of owners. Be back !

Wonderful location; we could hear the waves crashing even as we arrived late at night- John received us with a warm welcome and a few tips about the area. We woke up and walked out to Hermosa Beach which is just gorgeous (first time for us to the area). We stayed for over a week visiting with family and enjoyed incredible restaurants, walks, hikes, poetry reading, the fishing pier, Manhattan Beach, etc. We'll be back! Quick FYI: the owners live in the bottom unit so you'll be seeing them often as you get ready to head out. We didn't mind at all.

Nancy and John are wonderfully kind hosts, and the decor is warm and comfortable. I got the best sleep I have had in years, and felt relaxed and refreshed every day. The location was terrific for me as I was driving all over LA, the Valley and the Inland Empire. The dogs Ollie and Kota and hearing the ocean waves at night were the cherry on top of the Sunday. It was a terrific stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The bed and sleeper couch were very comfortable and the shower was very nice. You can walk or bike to most basic necessities otherwise a very short drive. Just be aware on weekends it can be difficult to find parking.

Perfect Location for Beachgoers!
My husband and I stayed in the apartment for the month of January, it's very clean, quiet, private and the location is amazing! It's practically on the borderline of Hermosa Beach & Manhattan Beach, a beautiful & quiet beach community. When you walk through the property gate you're transported to an eclectic little Mexican villa filled with plants, colors and wonderful places to sit in quiet privacy. We could walk to the beach in minutes and hear the ocean while sitting inside or out on the private deck at night. There's restaurants and shops in walking and biking distance, and times we had a car we never had a problem parking on the street right outside the apartment. The hosts couldn't be nicer! They are so helpful if you need anything, are really down to earth and fun to talk to yet give you total privacy. We have relatives in the area & normally do not need to find accommodations but the next time we're in town we'd still want to drop by just to see them. We're animal lovers so the resident dog was an added bonus. We would definitely recommend this apartment to people seeking extremely close proximity to the beach, a nice & clean apartment and wonderful hosts!

Perfect beach getaway
As someone who has lived a couple blocks away from this spot for years, I can say this is the most unique spot in California. Not only is the location key but the outdoor space makes for an incredible and comfortable stay. The owners are absolutely fantastic and have done an amazing job with this house. Would absolutely stay again!

Wish we could've staid longer
The location is amazing... 4 houses up from the beach. You can walk to either Hermosa or Manhattan piers inside of 20 minutes. We have 2 little kids so we also walked to the parks regularly. John and Nancy are super nice and communicated very well. They even let us know ahead of time about construction going on next door. Their roof top deck is a great place to unwind in the evenings. Would definitely recommend to someone else and we hope to stay again in the future.

Fantastic home base for exploring the LA area
It's very close to the beach as described. The home looks like a botanical gardens with huge funky plants all around. Just beautiful. A big, sunny, 2nd floor patio was very welcome. Their big friendly dog hung out with us a lot up there, so bonus if you're an animal lover. The bed was comfy and the shower was spacious.
There is a large grocery store and small shops nearby open very late if you like self-catering and a big variety of restaurants nearby if you don't. There's lots of little stuff to do within walking distance like a small pier and aquarium for when you want to have a lazy day. It's close enough to LAX to be very convieninet and close, but not close enough to be noisy.
Parking is on the street and we never had to park more than 50 yards away. We saw the owners almost every day. They always gave us useful knowledge on the area.
I don't think they could have done anything better, so it's 5 stars from me..

I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised at how nice this property was when I saw it.
I spent six weeks at this lovely apartment and enjoyed every minute of it. The walk through entrance up to the apartment has a quaint Mexican feel to it, with plants to enjoy on your walk through. The apartment was much more spacious then I thought it would be. Everything was updated and clean also, with plenty of hot water for showers. The upstairs rooftop patio right outside the apartment is a great place to just hangout if you like. It is close to the strand for walking to Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach. I would rent this property again.

Just what we hoped for.
Nancy and John's place was perfect for us. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, well equipped, and best of all, one block from the beach.
