This house is a great location right on the river with plenty to do at the house. It’s a very quiet part of town and easily accessible to hikes, fishing, Elizabethton, and Johnson City.

Fantastic place for me and my family. The basement ceilings are low and might be a bit tricky for those over 6’ tall. Fortunately no of us are anywhere close to that height so it was perfect lol. The stay was fabulous. The hosts were tremendous. Definitely worth the stay!!

Very comfortable, right on the Watauga.Great fishing.

My family stayed at the house for a birthday fishing trip. TVA was generating a 1500cfs sluice so wade fishing was a no-go but fortunately we own a drift boat and fished four days. The house is on the river between Hunter bridge and 19 bridge in a good section of river - would be a great spot to wade if flows allow. The house itself is in a perfect location on the middle of the river and close to town. Provides close access to many stretches of the river and a quick 25 minutes to the SoHo. Would definitely stay again!

Property was great. Very clean. The Christmas decorations were a very nice unexpected touch. Also appreciated that they had the NFL network. The place was perfect for our family celebration. We did not spend much time outside but the view of the river was pretty.

Property was nice. Great location and very quiet home as far as noise during the night. With 4 couples you often hear people up and around throughout the night. This was very quiet. Loved the layout of the home.
Thanks for sharing it with us!

Good for a large family. Quick access to lots of activities. River was beautiful and loved sitting on all the porches. Beds were pretty comfy and the kitchen was well stocked.
Our only complaint is that the temperature was really hard to control. The basement was freezing and the main level was hot.

From start to finish Gina was a great help to work with! They are remodeling the kitchen and let us know the floor had just been replaced and the cabinets were being updated. The house was very clean and festively decorated for Christmas (inside and out)! Our family had a great time and would love to come back when we can enjoy the outdoor amenities. Thanks for everything!

Wonderful
Loved this property right on the River. So perfect for our family needs, well stocked. We were able to frolic in the River when it was low and ping pong was so fun. The Air conditioning works really well!

The Perfect River House
We booked the house for a family reunion. We fit the family quite nicely. We especially enjoyed witting on the deck by the river, chatting, and enjoying the outdoors. It was safe for the kids. We loved that there were games provided that we could play. We set up the badminton set, played ping pong, fished and made a fire. The whole family was entertained and quite happy. We loved how there was plenty of kitchen supplies to cook whatever we desired with ease.
Only bad things were that the basement was extremely cold. But we found a container with blankets and had everyone bundle up. Also, the poison oak needs destroyed on the steps down to the river - it was avoidable, though.

Ski trip to Sugar Mountain for children and grandchildren
We enjoyed the location; the skiers didn't seem to mind the trip to Sugar. The grandchildren and my husband enjoyed the pool table. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen was well supplied.

Wonderful Family Vacation
Everything was perfect except the fishing part. Was not clear before payment that the river was not for regular fishing. The only fishing you could do is fly fishing in the middle of river or on a boat. The river never stopped flowing fast. After payment we received a email of a phone number to check the times the dam closed and it never did. We tried fishing anyway and lost so many lures, weights, and bait. Other then that, the home came with everything we needed. We would definitely rent again. Thank you

Home Away From Home!
From the moment the front door opened, I felt ‘at home’! Spacious, comfortable, and plenty of things offered, within, to occupy all ages! Games, books, toys, smart TV (too be used with personal subscriptions), Dish TV, magazines, large dining room table, for family gatherings, ping pong and pool table. Outside is serene and beautiful!
Would love to return if and when we are in the area. The only issue we had that were unable to resolve was the basement’s temperature (freezing, compared to warmer upstairs). Very small price for the many cherished memories that have been made!!

The house was very nice. A little on the expensive side for 4 nights.
Everything you need is at the house. Does not sleep the amount of guests listed comfortably. But overall we had a good time.
5.0 / 10.0
The house is a bit outdated and the steps going to the Down floor are squeaky. Overall the experience was worth it, definitely excede it our expectations. The view of the river in the background was amazing. Also a lot of entertainment for the entire family and plenty of space.

Beautiful River House
Nice house to stay at with its own pier for fishing or cray fishing. Only down fall was strong odor of old wood. Nice kitchen. We love to come back and stay next year.

We were pleased
Overall nice home. Good location. Excellent communication with owner and local representative. But a bit tight for more than 6-7 people. We were nine one night and the other two nights 8. Without looking back at the website, believe home is advertised as holding 10. That would be inconvenient as it would require putting down large inflatable mattresses in common areas. But overall it was a nice stay. Thanks to the owner and local rep. Good job.

Very Disappointed
This house is like an over-the-hill quarterback with bad knees, and the coaching staff keeps pumping him full of cortisone and pushing back out onto the field.
I lived in the Elizabethton/Johnson City area my whole life until recently, and my girlfriend and I booked this house on the water to visit friends and family. From my perspective, this rental is very over-priced and didn't live up to the promises made in the listing. First, the house is very old and outdated. Most everyone who came to visit all said pretty much the same thing, "this is like my grandma's house." When we arrived, the grass was very tall and the outdoor deck area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks and weeks. The grass was about 6-8 inches tall in the back in some areas. I got an email from one of the caretakers, asking us when they could come to mow...they finally showed up the second to last day! Which is frustrating, because we chose this particular rental for the outdoor space.
Also, the internet is incredibly slow. Painfully slow. Hard to stream a Netflix show, slow. This was a working vacation for us, and internet access is vital, and ultimately it was almost impossible for both of us to be online at one time. When we first arrived, the internet wasn't even working, and after a phone call with the property owner we figured out that the telephone junction box where the router plugs into...the wires weren't even connected! Not the cables, the wires inside the telephone box! There's definitely a musty smell in the home. We mostly noticed it around the backdoor area. From the motion light that blinked on and off the first two nights of our stay (and after not being able to find out how to turn it off, I finally unscrewed the bulb) to the painfully low water pressure (don't run a facet while you run the shower) everything seemed like a struggle with this house. Want to play ping pong? The paddles are all smashed. Want to use the grill outside? There's a family of birds inside and the grates and rusted out. Want to watch TV? Only a handful of the channels work. The river view is gorgeous, that much is true–if you can find a sturdy chair to sit in and enjoy it, that is.
Overall, I just felt like we were taken advantage of. And when I reached out to the Denver-based property manager with these concerns, I never got a response back.

Perfect location for holiday stay
We enjoyed our stay at this riverfront property. It's perfectly located for visiting family during the holidays. The property manager was very helpful. The extra steps by the management of decorating the home for the holidays made it truly feel like home. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Thanksgiving
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving in this lovely home. The kitchen had everything I needed and the kids enjoyed the ping-pong and billiards. Want to come back when warmer so we can enjoy the river.

Plentiful
Plentiful beginning with the southern hospitality we received from housekeeping supervisor two days prior to checking in, thank you Gina for taking my call. To often a property of this size, occupancy wise lacks enough bed linens, pillows, air mattresses, and kitchenware. This was not the case here. There must have been 12 nicely folded thick blankets in the master closet and at least that many or more new bed pillows. Plentiful sheets and pillow cases, 2 large rotating stand up fans and a portable rolling radiator heater for the amphibian in your group. A cedar chest labeled “more bed linens” also in large master was ideal for suitcase placement. Actually all the bedrooms were outfitted with southern hospitality extras...pillows, fans, heaters, air mattresses. Kitchen dishes silverware and cookware plentiful!... and clean! Crockpots, outdoor grill utensils again aren’t the norm but here it totally was. Beautifully decorated with an extra touch of autumn flair, mums, pumpkins and scarecrows. Well done! Btw the neighbors were mentioned in a previous post as being less than friendly which wasn’t the case at all. Not sure what happened on that persons trip cause we did not experience anything of the sort.
Stay in your lane and more so than not others will do the same.
Lots of sitting areas and extra chairs on site. Thank you homeowner whoever you are for sharing your beautiful home.
Action items:
The bottom oven heating element cracked and non operative .
Consider replacing overhead fixtures lightbulbs throughout with brighter bulbs. Some non operative others giving a yellowing effect. Your home is beautiful and spacious check out Lowes “daylight white light” bulbs.
Yes Plentiful memories made with plans to return again soon.

Overstone rental
For the rates being charged this old home needs a bit more updating. Beds were so hard, the musty smell of the home was overwhelming, and the towels and some of the linens need updating. The view and the dock was amzaing.

Hidden Gem gorgeous homesite
The home was exactly as described, and the cleaning crew did an outstanding job! Lots of space and room to play for 4 children and our 2 dogs, even the WiFi met the pickiest video gamers expectations! I was worried that the children wouldn’t be able to play in the water, but the mornings had low water levels that were perfect for hunting crawdads and getting their feet wet. The afternoons had higher water levels perfect for fishing. This property has stairs down to the most beautiful natural grassy area that was dreamy for all of us. This area isn’t pictured and the property management company didn’t know it existed either. Several times during our stay I was working from the master bedroom and could see deer walking down the center of the river, just gorgeous nature all around. The master closet was big enough for a king sized inflatable mattress that was perfect for our toddler to stay close-by. Lots of extra blankets pillows and air mattresses. The backyard has a lot of mature trees with sun coverage. The garage was huge and perfect for our dog crates. We enjoyed Betty’s burger hut and Watauga kayaks family owned hospitality, highly recommend them. We would stay here again and again.
Opportunities to improve:
The meanest nosey neighbors that despise renters. Told me all about how this house was grandfathered to rent and she hopes we never come back. Yelled at me for letting my dog sniff her sidewalk. Neighbor also has chickens that kept our dogs interest. Would LOVE if this property had a fence to keep dogs away from the neighbors.
There were only 6 forks in the kitchen so we had to wash by hand for every meal.
Closet doors downstairs were broken. We will be back here!

Nice (as shown in the site pics) convenient place to stay for fishing the Wataga and Holston but we haven't been able to wade fish at the house the past two times we've stayed (early May). Great owner and service!
