Beautiful building, choice of rooms, very comfy.
Meals were terrific good value, made on site by chef, with local excellent quality food.
Staff very professional,friendly and helpful

On arrival the member of staff was very helpful & polite. Unfortunately on returning from our day out at the races (@10pm) we was informed we could have 1 drink & the bar was closed. We also found the evening staff rude & unwelcoming. The rooms are clean & tidy & as expected for the cost. Would I stay there again? Possibly but if I could find another option I’d probably try them first.
Early bar closing & attitude of the evening bar staff.

Food was outstanding
Rooms comfortable
No Wi-Fi at all in room, and no mobile signal.

Nice old pub with friendly staff. We attended a wedding at Chippenham Park so the location was perfect. There was on site free parking too. Rooms were clean.
The photos of the rooms on the advert have been refurbished and ours wasn’t so I was disappointed. There was also no milk for tea and coffee and no hairdryer. Also, the wifi didn’t work in our room.

Great little pub with friendly landlord. Rooms were clean and spacious.

Loved the location, very rural. The staff were very amenable, infact the chef made me a delicious parsnip soup as no soup was on the menu and I needed a special diet. Would definitely come again if the opportunity arises.

The staff where great on arrival and we checked in with ease and got straight into our room which was clean and comfortable and separate from the main building. Although this is a pub the area is so quite once the patrons have gone home allowing for a good nights rest.

we ate both nights on our stay and found the food to be very good, the staff were fantastic as were the locals, very friendly
Would have suited us better if breakfast had been an option but had to travel a couple of miles for breakfast

No breakfast

Staff very friendly, easy to find, comfy beds and nice food and drinks from the main bar

Beautiful place Beautiful setting and lovely food we chose as it was close to newmarket races where we had an event hosts made you very welcome
Food was excellent but my steak pie only served warm could have been hotter but was lovely and tasty that would be my only criticism, but was my choice not to report to staff I did not complain .

The area was lovely. The hotel was good as it was dig friendly The staff were excellent especially Ella the waitress. The room was very nice except the window couldn't be closed, would have helped as the dog barked at every car door that shut. As we were facing the car park it was extremely noisy into the early hours of the morning and people getting back to their rooms. The dog barked at all the loud voices. Would recommend the hotel but with a dog maybe a room away from the car park. Dinner was excellent
Just the room facing the car park and window not shutting

Everything was fine and perfect
Nothing to dislike

Super dog friendly, excellent greeting on arrival and friendly staff, room was clean including bedding etc and our room even had a futon for the dog to lie on! Bar and outside area is nice.
Room/bathroom was a bit tired and needed a freshen up.
Avoid on race days, we were awoken and kept awake between the hours of 02.00 and 04.00 by race goers arriving back, little worse for wear, repeatedly banging doors whilst they use the shared bathroom and when it eventually calmed down we could then hear two people being sick (loudly!), so the soundproofing isn’t the best! (It is an old building!
Food was reasonably priced but nothing special in quality

Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Bed super comfy.
Shower stopped during shower. Woken by other guests at 1.30 but not establishment fault. No breakfast options available but not huge issue.

Friendly staff on arrival.Comfortable bed
The price was high for a very basic room but I understand it was Saturday.
Filthy glasses in room.Grubby walls.Cobwebs.

The owner was lovely very helpful when we couldn’t get a taxi to venue
When you check out you literally leave key in door no one on site and our room was right outside the kitchen so could just hear the extractor fan keep going. It’s also a shame they don’t offer breakfast option think the room was a bit over priced for how outdated it is. But it was a comfy bed

Great stay. Food was great.
Great menu and location.

The property itself is pretty but let down by the fact that it is obvious the cleaning is not managed well.
The cleanliness, shared bathroom facilities with not even a minimum of hand soap and no indication that the facilities would be shared when you book, definitely not worth 100/130 a night!
Dead flies on the windowsills and lots of spiders in the room! Not amazing when you have a fear of them!

What did I like about my stay, Sweet FA, I'd rather stop in a Travel Inn (never thought I'd ever say that in public) Come to think of it, I've slept in better hedges when I've been on Exercise than this place. Steer Clear!!!
The place is a Hovel, shared Bathroom & Toilet, wasn't advised until arrival (I haven't shared a Toilet and Bathroom since I joined the Airforce in 1979 and that was with over 30 other guys and they were still cleaner than these...) poo stains in the shared toilet, no soap or hand drier?, Pubes in the shared bath/shower (I was the 1st guest in), dead Flies on the Bathroom Window ledge, had to stoop to use the Shower (I'm only 5-10" so not that tall). decoration in the Toilet and Bathroom was appalling, sticky lino floors. Bedroom: - counted x6 flies at one time circling the bed, was unable to close the "Quaint"/ Shite Sash Window, asked the barman to come up and do it as they looked ready to fall out and he managed to pop the bottom out off the Window because it was completely rotten (see photo). As the window couldn't be closed I had to spend the evening in the dark to try and prevent even more flies coming in as there was a 1ft gap between the window and the cill. The mattress was lumpy and wallowy, the Carpets throughout were dirt stained (hoovered, but dirty). Couldn't close the Fire escape door adjacent to the Bedroom for security, there was a pile of Cigarette butts on the Fire Escape Stairs. One of the Bar Speakers was right under my Room, had to go down at 21.00hrs and ask them to turn it down as it was drowning out the Bedroom TV (and even then was only turned down a notch)...Due to the state of the place I didn't fancy eating in the Bar, thought I'd wait for Breakfast, went down in the morning to find the Bar locked up and no Breakfast available...surprise surprise!! I did get x1 free Beer, gee thanks, I'd rather have a refund!!!

Bed to small for 2 people. But that is because not used to a standard double these days

After I settled into my room I went walking around the outside of The Golden Boar looking for an unlocked door and I met Rob and Som who were the kitchen staff who explained that the kitchen had closed at 4pm and they were just having a final chat after clearing up before going home. They were very apologetic that The Golden Boar bar and restaurant had closed at 5pm on a Sunday (I arrived after 6pm) and explained that it was only open 3 nights of the week.
Rob and Som gave me some water for my room and explained that there was no provision for breakfast. I did contact David (the owner) via text and he explained that I would have needed to pre-book a cold breakfast pack. It was not clear on their website that the bar and restaurant would be closed on a Sunday night and that there was no breakfast provided. As I was travelling 140 miles for business, I would have booked elsewhere. As I arrived there was a written note on the door telling me that I was in room 2 (with directions) and that the key was in the door. There was no one there to book in with or book out with the following morning. Very strange! Not really suitable for business bookings.

Lovely staff! Very helpful and a lovely spot in the countryside

Bed comfy
Bedroom requires serious cleaning, dust and cobwebs everywhere. No services at all as bar closed at 4pm and all staff left at 5.30pm. No food and drink for evening - should have been advised when booking or after booked. No continental breakfast offered @ £7 pp, as advised on website. Booked pub as fantastic reviews regarding food.

No breakfast but evening meal very good. Comfy 3 bed family room. Pub guests not noisy downstairs. No ensuite in family room but we had private bathroom down the hall which was clean and well kept. Shower over bath a bit cramped if you are 5'8+ but good power and heat.

Nicely restored Pub!

Staff very friendly and helpful, food in bar was good
Room very hot and smelt of dog, shower curtain off-putting needs replacing and bathroom in general needs updating
