About this house rental
Our home is right in the heart of wine country and overlooks the lake from the east side, so the views are amazing and the sunsets are often filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 70 feet of spacious lake frontage and a 10 foot wide dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun.
Our home is fully furnished and features an Arts & Crafts-style living room. The master bedroom, living room, and especially the dining room (with its eight windows) have broad views of the lake/sunsets. The community areas are large too (living room: 17' x 22', kitchen and dining room: 22' x 22'). Up to six people can sleep comfortably in the three bedrooms with two queen and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully stocked and the house has air conditioning. There is enough parking for two or three vehicles.
Further Description:
Just outside the house is an intimate yard with a gas grill and a patio set that has cushioned seats and an umbrella. On the lakefront, there's a bonfire ring and a picnic table with an umbrella. You can borrow the owner's 4 kayaks, peddle boat, and row boat, as well as use the camp chairs that are kept in the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sunset and drinking local wine.

We stayed here about 11 years ago, but had unfortunate, emergency family circumstances that led us to leave early. Until this year, we were unable to rent again because I waited to long to book.
This time, however, we had a lovely stay without family drama. The home is large, allowing people to spread out if needed. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard. There is a ledge that our youngest dog slipped down, but he easily recovered, then bounded back up.
Due to our youngest dog's sight impairment and back-end weakness, we did not take the steps to the lakefront, but we drove our car down three times during the week so they could swim and we could relax.
The water is super-clean (a tiny bit of "seaweed," and some algae deeper in, but it was not problematic at all).
We enjoyed a fire in the firepit one night. The kitchen is stocked with everything you can think of -- spices, coffee filters, etc. There are cleaning supplies to help clean-up be easy. Bed sheets and towels were supplied, which was wonderful. Having a washer/dryer was a bonus.
The Wi-Fi has the strongest signal in the master bedroom, so we watched TV there (didn't try in the living room).
All-in-all, Lucky Dog Lodge was terrific. Mary was super-easy to work with and answered any questions we had. We will definitely return (sooner this time, when I book early enough).

This is the 4th summer my family has stayed at this property. We just LOVE it! The house is amazing and always well cared for, organized with clear guidance and instructions. The kitchen is stocked with ample pots, pans, and dishes. The dining table is large with a beautiful view of the lake. There is a washer and dryer, fenced in yard for your dog, a fire pit and grill. It's really nice! They also added string lights to the stair railing which not only looks pretty from the lake, but is really nice for the evening walks back up to the house.
The stairs to the lake are very manageable and very safe and sturdy. If for some reason you have a person with limited mobility, there is the ability to drive them to the lake level. Remember to bring your vehicle back up to park it though, many of the neighbors live here and need the road way clear for their access.
This is truly a slice of heaven, in nature, through the vineyards and you have your own lake front and dock. There are kayaks and a paddle boat too...truly wonderful. And if you are lucky, you will even see the Bald Eagle that lives just North of this house. We look forward to seeing him every year. The waterfall near the house is so pretty.
Mary and Mike are gracious and wonderful hosts. Easy to communicate with and very helpful. This is truly a top notch house and lake property. We love Seneca Lake and this location. It's our happy place! My family and I love it!

Beautiful property with everything you possibly need in the house. Very comfy beds and beautiful fire pit. We did find 3 dirty pans stuck in the cabinets but owner may have been unaware

Cottage was exactly as described on VRBO. Had everything we needed for our week. Loved being able to sit and watch the sunsets, kayaking the beautiful lake and many great locations to hike. We enjoyed seeing all the beautiful water falls. Finger Lakes is a beautiful area to visit. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Mike and Mary are amazing hosts and graciously share this beautiful lake property and welcome your dog too! Very clear directions and check-in process. Kitchen is well stocked and there is a large table to seat many guests. The house is beautiful, clean and well maintained. The dock and lake frontage are your own piece of paradise for a week - amazing! We also have access to their kayaks. Fishing is fun too! The yard is fenced in so your dog can be off leash w/o worry. Our family has been coming here for 3 years and love this location. Parking is easy and right next to the house. Direct access to the lake by the stairs. If you have anyone with mobility issues, there is an access road you can drive down to drop people off. This is such a great location, close to wineries, convenience stores but also away from everything if you just want to be at the lake all week. Mike and Mary are easy to contact if you have any questions. Truly a beautiful property and location. Thank you for all of our Summer memories on Seneca Lake!

This place is truly a hidden gem and I feel so incredibly lucky to have stayed here. Mary made the check-in process so easy and clear and provided instructions to the house as it is down a quiet stone road. Tip: factor in 5-8 minutes to turn off the main road to the road that the house is on as the speed limit will add some time to your route. The ride is a beautiful view of vineyards and quaint cottages. The house has everything we needed to have a lovely outside dinner (thank you for letting us use the Weber!). We sat by the fire one night and enjoyed the absolute peacefulness of this place. We took our morning coffee down the steps to the dock and took in the lake and then spent the rest of the afternoon kayaking, swimming, lounging, and creating life-long memories. We went to the Stonecat Cafe for dinner one night and it was so fabulous. One of my friends is a vegan, however us other 4 are not; regardless the food was awesome and we all enjoyed. Great vibes, as well. Perfect recommendation from the pre-check in book! This spot is about a 20 minute drive to Watkin's Glen, which we explored one morning - also a beautiful drive. Mary - thank you for providing your place to gather, laugh, relax, and connect with friends. We will never forget our stay!

Really nice location.. well maintained. Private, but not secluded. Clear directions, defined rules, no guessing. It was exactly as advertised and consistent with ratings and reviews that we researched in advance of our stay! Great experience and wonderful memories!

This cottage was very beautiful, very beautifully decorated large spacious however, it did not have a covered porch or deck, and the lake access was down a very long set of steps.

This is my third time staying at the Callahan's - first time in the main house though. The house was clean, kitchen well appointed, but the main selling point of this property is the outdoor space, and perfect location. And the beds were extremely comfortable! Likely not my last time here :-)

We had such a great time at this Vrbo - the check-in and out was so easy, and the house itself was in an amazing location with access directly to the lake.

It has been a pleasure working with Mary & Mike, my hosts, throughout this entire experience. The cottage was absolutely spotless.... everything you need (utensil wise) to make a meal was provided. Two refrigerators in the kitchen, made it easy to juggle cold beverages and food.
The weather was a challenge, but we had a modern fireplace to ward off the rain dampness.
Beds were perfect.
I'm looking forward to returning next year.

Our family of five stayed in this wonderful lake home on our visit to Watkins Glen, about 20 minutes away, and Seneca Falls, 25 minutes away. If you are interested in a wine tasting tour, you are quite literally nestled just past a wine grove and within a few-minute drive to many wineries.
But for us, the best part was the magnificent views of Seneca Lake. We enjoyed sunsets on the patio, and even better, we walked down the stairs to the dock and enjoyed morning coffee in absolute peace and quiet.
We enjoyed access to kayaks and took them on a lovely paddle south and were appreciative of the access to all of the supplies we needed.
The house itself is stocked with Stickley/ Mission style furniture, very cozy for the few moments we spent indoors, and has a huge kitchen table where we enjoyed an evening game night after the sun had set. The kitchen has all of the supplies necessary including a vast array of OXO brand utensils--we have the owner to thank for the design of those patented grips. Great engineering/ art design lesson throughout the house.
Our kids enjoyed the piano and rekindled their piano skills. And, we especially loved the large outdoor patio with grill and fire pit which had a perfect view of the lake and the sunsets.
Be warned, though: To get from the house at the top of the cliff to the lovely dock requires a descent of a set of stairs built along the cliff--not for the faint of heart.
Highly recommended.

Amazing property
An excellent experience from the beginning. The hosts are very communicative and organized. They answer all your questions and make you aware of all you may need. The house is amazing, very clean and directions are clear.
Rooms are beautiful, kitchen is large and is very well stocked. Ample supplies and linens. The internet and TV service are excellent.
The yard is fenced in and wonderful for your dog. With beautiful views. Parking is great and right next to the house, which is wonderful.
Access to the lake is easy and safe. There are steps, but not a lot compared to other properties. If it's too many due to a health issue or limitation, there is an access road.
The lake frontage and dock are great. Plenty of chairs, lounges and table. Full use of kayaks and boats to share. An awesome pergola with a shade fabric. Dog friendly and wonderful.
Our dog made friends with the next door renters dog...it really was a great week!
Thank you for everything.

Girls Weekend Getaway
This was the perfect setting for our weekend getaway with friends. It was a short drive to Watkins Glen for shopping and hiking and very close to numerous wineries and breweries. We visited on a rainy April weekend, which kept us indoors some, but the home is comfortable with beautiful views of Seneca Lake and well-equipped with anything you need. Mary was very responsive to our questions and close by if we needed anything.

Loved the place
Great place. Location is ideal. Owners were great to deal with. The property is as advertised. Plenty of room inside. The yard is good and fenced in, perfect for our dogs. Great views. As the listing says, you have to walk down a pretty big staircase to get to the lake. Not ideal. But you can drive your car right down to the lake, which is huge. So we would drive our stuff down to the lake every morning and drive it back up at night, and just walk up and down during the day. Not a problem at all. The owners have a place close by and they are around, but they completely leave you alone and respect that the place is yours for the week. Can't speak highly enough about the owners. Great to deal with. Would rent this place again.

Wonderful lake house
The four of us enjoyed a great weekend at the Lakehouse. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the home was. More than comfortable for us. We were glad the weather was pleasant enough for an evening paddle on the lake. We chose to take our meals at the local restaurants but the kitchen has everything you need to cook while enjoying the lake views. We highly recommend this lovely lake cottage.

Great Location for Exploring the Lakes
Thank you Mary and Mike for a wonderful week. We wanted to explore the area waterfalls and this was the perfect spot from which to do that.
As lake people from way back, we prefer lakes to the Jersey Shore. We know what we are getting into when we go to a lake cottage. If you are not lake cottage types, there are a few spiders and stuff, but it is in the woods and on a lake. That's what you get. There was nothing terrible about them or any other insects. Just normal living, in the woods.
The neighborhood was quiet and away from the vacation spots just enough to be relaxing and yet not too far that you couldn't get somewhere within 30 minutes or less for something to do. We went into Watkins Glen almost every day when we needed to run an errand and that was a 20 minute drive - which includes the slow journey out of the property area. It's a couple miles off the main road, mostly gravel, and one lane. The requested speed limit is 5 MPH once you get around the homes, so that takes a bit of your time. Not a problem for us because for once, we weren't in a hurry no matter what we did.
This is a great place from which to explore the Finger Lakes. The setting is gorgeous and the cottage is very clean. We went swimming and kayaking most of our days and the water was fantastic. (Again, we like lakes). Sunsets were beautiful.
You are right on the wine trail once you get out to the main route - for those that want that type of trip, this is the prime location. There is even a winery in the neighborhood which we did patronize one day.
If you are visiting waterfalls, our favorites were Buttermilk Falls and Ithaca Falls. Everyone talks about Watkins Glen State Park, which is amazingly beautiful, but not our #1 - that would be Buttermilk for us. Ithaca Falls is awesome for it's look and the ease in which to get there. Don't skip Robert H. Treman, but if you don't want a strenuous hike, go to the lower entrance to see Enfield Falls, and then drive to the upper entrance and do the shorter hike to see Lucifer Falls. Still a pretty taxing hike for some, but much shorter.
Go to Sampson Park and also into Montour Falls.
Don't miss Hector Falls on your way into Watkins Glen.
We took a trip to Geneva one day which was just lovely.
A wonderful stay, with great hospitality, and we would absolutely do it again.

Beautiful retreat in the heart of the Finger Lakes!
We absolutely loved our stay! The house is far more spacious than the photos reveal, and the owners are genuine dog lovers who are happy to have your pup stay. The location is perfectly situated among some of the best wineries and restaurants. 5 stars for sure!!

Perfect weekend getaway
The lake house was perfect for what we were looking for, which was a nice weekend with a view of the water and resources to just hang tight and enjoy company we don’t see often. The directions to get to the place were spot on and everything was pretty simplified and laid out for us.
