About this house rental
Max's Beach Retreat is a large luxury vacation rental 1.5 blocks from the sparkling waters and white sands of Cherry Grove Beach in North Myrtle Beach. The house was completely updated spring 2023. All new furniture throughout. Amazing "Backyard Oasis" Large pool, spa and grill/bar with plenty of outdoor space. The house is very spacious containing 2,300 sq ft of living space, 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths with a private pool. There is a huge outdoor patio and 3 decks! It has an open, modern floor plan with an updated kitchen. The house has brand new furniture and premium mattresses as of 2020 and has been completely updated and painted. We have installed new showers in two of the bathrooms in the fall of 2019. We have Wi-Fi and Direct TV with new flat screen TVs in all of the bedrooms and living room. Downstairs there is a large lounging area as your make your way to the salt water pool and relaxing under the house patio. Max's Beach Retreat sleeps up to 10 with a large master suite with king bed, second master bedroom with king bed, a third bedroom with a queen bed, and a fourth bedroom with 2 queen beds. The master suite bath has a Jacuzzi tub as well as a shower. Max's is dog friendly (it would have to be, it is named after our little buddy Max!) so bring the furry ones too! The house features key less entry with washer and dryer on the 2nd floor. One and 1/2 blocks from the beach and within walking to many restaurants and stores. The home was built in 2007 and the house, pool and deck area were completely updated and remodeled in 2019. A great place to relax with over 2,000 sq feet of outdoor living space. The cleaning fee includes a full linen package, we also have 4 beach chairs for your group to use at the beach! If you are looking at dates more than 6 months in the future please reach out for a quote. If you book with us (which we hope you do) we send our short term rental agreement to your email address via docusign, and will email you access instructions a day or two before your stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The pool and hot tub were great and the walk to the beach very close! We could all sit together in the living room to talk, play games and enjoy each others company! There was one small issue with the pool and Jamie took care of it right away! We would definitely return another time!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at this beach house over the week of the 4th of July. The house was very clean and had all that you could ask for. Two blocks from the beach and two blocks away from grocery store. Pet friendly and family friendly, great place to stay!

All I can say is wow. This house was clean, well furnished, and in a great location. Everything was as promised. We even got to meet the owners and they were so nice. You can tell by the level of detail that they want a quality experience for their renters.

This was a perfect rental, they thought of everything. Kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfy. House was very clean. We loved the pool and hot tub. Beach was a quick walk and was beautiful. Hosts were very easy to reach if needed.

House was clean and well equipped. Well stocked kitchen and plenty of linens. Host was quick to answer any questions we had and help if needed. House was a very short walk to the beach and to the local grocery store. Plenty of room and outside seating.

This is a great rental for larger groups. A large, well-equipped kitchen, table for 6, large living room, large bedrooms - 2 with an ensuite. A great outdoor space in the back yard. The neighbourhood is very quiet - but very close to the beach.
It's in North Myrtle Beach so not right in Myrtle Beach. But still close to plenty of shopping and golf courses.

From the modern, bright, super clean house to the smallest details such as the complimentary canvas tote bag, this rental was such a pleasant surprise. Located in the heart of Cherry Grove and walking distance from the famous Boulineau's, this place has it all! Jamie is a great host who responds quickly and gives informative directives about the home and great suggestions for local eats and treats. With 2 homes to visit, we will definitely be back. We had so much fun! This house is the prettiest best kept one in the neighborhood. Very well kept and beautifully decorated. Our host was so responsive! The heated hot tub and pool in the lighted back yard werd such a treat, even just to look at! Great property and an experience that was magically enjoyable.

Spacious house within walking distance to groceries, bars, ice cream parlors and less than 2 minute walk to the beach. Our family had a great time and will keep it in mind for the future. Property manager was very responsive and helpful with everything too!

We had a very laid back relaxing week off after a summer filled with long work hours and many events. Weddings, gatherings, and many commitments in general. It was nice to just sit in the sun.

The place was perfect for a getaway to see our new grandbaby and relax for a week. The weather turned a little cooler but that just meant we took advantage of laying on the beach and hopping in the whirlpool! Boulineau's Foods is close by for just about anything you want for eating in and there's of plenty of restaurants to select what level of dining that suits you.

We couldn’t have chosen nicer accommodations for our group of three couples for a late September week of golf and fun. Max’s retreat was just as advertised. The property was very clean, a kitchen very well stocked, nice linen and towels, nicely decorated and plenty of room to spread out and relax. The pool and spa were an additional plus with the warm temps. Easy walk to the beach and grocery store and a great location for golfers with a range of courses nearby. The property owner made contact with us upon arrival to ensure everything was ok and was readily available if needed. Highly recommend this vacation property. No second thoughts about returning here.

This was by far the BEST beach house we have stayed at. I don't know where to begin. A hurricane brought in 2 feet of flooding two days before our stay. Yet the pool was ready for use when we arrived. There was a slight snafu with the hot tub because of the hurricane, but it was also fixed quickly. Everyone loved the pool (especially our grandson) and the hot tub.
We could not get access to the speaker volume control because the garage was locked and Jamie showed up immediately to unlock the door. It was so enjoyable to have music to grill, eat and swim to.
The outside areas were outstanding. Three decks afforded us time to be by ourselves or to gather together. The patio area included a spacious grill, table, chairs, stools and a refrigerator; all shaded. There was also a comfy shaded lounging area with a constant breeze.
This house was IMMACULATE. The kitchen was well appointed, having everything you could possibly need; the pots and pan were a grade above standard cookware.
There was no cutting corners, as this rental is super nice. The towels were plush, the bed linens could stand to be upgraded (this is the only imperfection I could find). The size of this house was very comfortable for 7 adults and one child.
The beach is only 1.5 blocks to the public access. This is our first time to Cherry Grove, and we found the beach to be very clean. My husband and I like a low-key, relaxing beach and we were not disappointed.
We can't wait to return to Max's Beach Retreat!!

The house was wonderful. It was nicely decorated and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and everything you needed to cook. We did not realize that we needed to bring our own beach/pool towels, soap, toilet paper, garbage bags etc. Avoid the IGA around the corner. The prices were outrageous. Walmart or Publix is less than 10 minutes away by car. We really appreciated the three sofas in the family room which allowed us all to gather together to talk and play games. The bedrooms were a good size. Both kings and one queen bed were quite hard for us-which required a trip to Walmart to buy foam pads.
Excellent outdoor space! Loved the outdoor kitchen. Our family enjoyed being able to cook, dine, and relax outside. The jacuzzi heated quickly and was used frequently in the cooler weather. The beach was about a 5 minute walk. The wagon came in handy to pull all the gear.
CON: We had no idea that it was Motorcycle Week. I sure wish we had been warned as we would have chosen different dates. We loved the house, but nobody got a good night's sleep the entire vacation. There was very heavy motorcycle traffic and noise (revving of engines) at all hours of the night. If you are a light sleeper, or are looking for peace and quiet, I would recommend choosing a different week.

We had the best time staying in our rental. It was absolutely beautiful, very clean, decorated in a nice beach decor, plenty of room. Our granddaughters were so excited to find out there was a pool and hot tub. They utilized both throughout our stay. The beach was very close which was nice. Grocery store, ice cream shop, shopping all close by.

We enjoyed our stay and were very happy with the property. We had two adults, 4 young teens, and two dogs. We had plenty of space and all the necessities! Grocery store, restaurants, and shopping was close by. Beach access was also easy, though we did enjoy driving north a few miles to Hogs Inlet for the best sunrise views.

Max’s retreat was the perfect place for our vacation. The house was as perfect at the pictures looks. Very clean and kept up. Jamie was great he made sure we didn’t need anything and had great contact info if we did. We had no issues at all. The house is in a nice location close enough for a very short walk to the beach, and just a short drive to just about any shopping or restaurant you could imagine. We already plan on returning. Very clean and comfortable. Nice area close to beach and activities. Nice restaurants a short drive. Only issue was hot tub was confusing for us to get heated during times we wanted to use it due to length of time it took to heat. We did not use the pool due to time of year and it not being heated. The pool and backyard area was lovely! We also got to bring a family dog at no extra charge which was nice. Communication with owners was easy and they were very helpful and responded quickly. Overall, excellent experience.

So we have rented a lot of VRBOs. Jamie's place is top #1 or #2. Exceptionally clean and well appointed. House was beautiful and walkable to anywhere we needed. Dog friendly and lots of room. Cannot say enough good about it. Communication with Jamie was perfect. He checked in on us and then left us to enjoy our stay. I don't normally give 5 stars all the way down the list, but this place warranted it.

First of all, we wish to thank our host for getting the unit ready so quickly after Hurricane Ian. The house, decks and outdoor area made for an enjoyable and relaxing vacation for our party of nine. The beach was a short walk away as were the stores and restaurants. The house was very clean, linens were in great condition, decor was very inviting. We could definitely tell our host took great pride in their rental unit and wanted us to feel very welcome!!! Our host was out of town during our stay but made sure we had a local contact for any needs. John was extremely polite and quick to respond to our questions. Should we ever find ourselves needing a big house again, Max’s Beach Retreat will definitely be our first choice. We will be letting friends and family know to check out Max’s for their vacations too!!!

This house was just right for our party of 10. The pool area was perfect for relaxing. We love the outside speakers. It made the ambiance all the better. The host were fabulous communicators. The grill ran out of gas and they attended to the problem immediately. You could tell they cared for the property and our experience.

First thing to know is Jamie is a great guy and very responsive to any questions.
The property was neat and orderly. Clean linens, kitchen had all essential supplies, every room had a tv and house had excellent wifi. Pool and hot tub were fantastic along with the entire outdoor area, including the bluetooth speakers to stream music through. We set up corn hole boards and a big checkerboard. We kept busy even when at the house.
Beach was a short walk as well as grocery, restaurants and a mini golf course.
There was 7 in our party, we were all very comfortable. We did rent a golf cart, more as a convenience, but not necessary.
This property met all our needs and will plan to be back again.

My family and I had the best time at Max’s Beach Retreat. The home was immaculate and the backyard was like an oasis. We spent a lot of time around the pool and on the patios and there was plenty of room for all of us (6 adults & a 10 month old). It was a quick walk to the beach and surrounding stores. Jamie was fantastic; super responsive and quick to take care of any questions/requests. We will definitely be back!

We had the best week with our family at Max's in Cherry Grove! The house was within walking distance to the beach. We entered the house and found a welcome bag, note and personalized chalkboard welcoming us. This was a super special touch by the owners! The outdoor space was wonderful! We spent may afternoon and evening hours grilling, swimming and in the hot tub. The home was spacious and clean. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, bowls, utensils, measuring cups, etc. We can't wait to come back next year!
