Locatie

Prices were a bit high.

The room was very comfortable with two beds and a sofa to chill in the evenings. Great if you’re visiting with your dog. The beach nearby was full of fellow dog walkers in the morning.

The apartment was very cosy, way bigger than we expected, the possibility of sitting inide the yard was really nice. There was some noise in the room whole time, we did not figured out what it was, but we could sleep anyway without any trouble.

Simple but really quaint and comfortable and very short walk to beach and beach restaurants. Also dog friendly so all of our family was welcome.
No rooms for a full family of 4. Have to book two separate rooms.

We booked this place just a few days before we arrived. My friend wanted her 1 year old dog to see the Ocean for the first time. This place offers nice big (30qm) Appartements. We had one upstairs. The Appartement itself was big, clean and very nice furnished. We liked it a lot! The bathroom is big and nice. Plus there was a small extra room or a closet. It was the same size like the dog room at my friends house. We kept him there if we left for breakfast or dinner. The Appartement has just everything you need for a short getaway.
The heater didn't work in the beginning. Because of the weather and the rain we were cold sometimes. Some cozy blankets for the couch would have been lovely.
The stairs are very steep. For her dog, which isn't used to climb stairs like this, it was a bit tricky. With the luggage too.
You can hear all the noises from the rooms around.
But just to say it, we really enjoyed our stay.

I was in the standard double room in the Hofje van Maas. It's on the ground floor and is large (for Dutch standards), more like a studio. And has two outdoor seats and a table in front, for smokers or for warm days. Cleaners come in every day. Great shower, though indeed a mop or edge is missing, the water runs further than convenient. Reception is central to three Hotels, (Doppenberg, Paradis and Hofje van Maas) and the desk is staffed from 8-18 hrs. And, you need to know it's situated in Hotel Paradis.
Appreciated the tea kettle and fridge and particularly the plates and cutlery, something other hotels don't offer in the room. Useful.
Supermarket is just round the corner.
Anything I disliked pales into insignificance considering the low November price I paid (about 43 euro), but if you are the sort of person who can or wants to afford the over 120 euro a night for the tourist season it might bother you.
The rooms on the ground floor of the Hofje are behind a gate that is always unlocked. (Why? Fire precaution?). Which means anyone (who knows that) can enter the hotel area at night and therefore it's not recommended to leave a main window open. There's a tiny high window over the door that is useful for ventilation. I woke at 23.15 hrs from the smell of cigarette smoke and a man was smoking directly by "my" window on "my" little terrace. Presumably he thought the room was unoccupied and as it was raining, chose it over the other seats as "mine" had a little roof over it - as I later saw he occupied nr 2 across from me. Anyway the local police station is just across the main road and always open, otherwise choose a room upstairs.
The coffee machine was indeed not working. Also after I reported it. But such deliciuous coffee everywhere in Zandvoort. The tea kettle works.

We were definitely satisfied with our stay at Hofje van Maas. First, the check-in was super fast, the lady at the reception is extremely friendly and helpful! She gave us some brochures of some recommended restaurants and places-to-go in Zandvoort (which are all super nice, all the places that we've visited were on these brochures, very grateful for the lady and would definitely recommend these brochures!).
We got a room upstairs, which was so pretty, the room is like a mini beach house with a balcony of our own. No complaints at all about the room, it was clean, the bed was VERY cozy, coffee, tea and mini fridge are available, bathroom was clean and completed with luxurious shampoo, shower gel, and towels, and there's a TV.
The stay at Hofje van Maas was definitely one of the highlights (that we weren't expecting at all) of our weekend-holiday at Zandvoort!
It's just a shame the houses at the front of our room were being renovated, so the view from our balcony was the renovation. But it didn't bother us at all! We bet that the hotel will look splendid after the renovation!
