First of all, staying in a castle is SO COOL! The building and grounds did not disappoint at all. It is beautifully restored, and there are lots of spaces to explore, including the ramparts, great hall, and castle walls. The whole fortification around Alarcón is truly impressive. I went on a hike around the city walls that had some peaceful nature and great views of the various fortifications around the area. There is also a viewpoint of the castle at the tower as you drive in. Room was a bit cramped, but otherwise comfortable especially considering it’s a centuries old castle! I appreciated that the restaurant had vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.
I was a bit disappointed by my assigned room. I booked “superior double” hoping for cool stone walls and an external view, but ended up with #101 that looks into the courtyard and was mostly plaster. If I go back, I would try to book a specific room since there is clearly variation within room categories. Two other things that aren’t necessarily bad, but that I wish I’d known: First, the English level of staff is lower than what I have experienced at other hotels in Spain. While everyone was versed in the basics and perfectly willing to help, I wouldn’t plan on having lots of complex questions and special requests. Second, this is a VERY small town a long way from anything, so it’s important to bring anything you need with you. (For me, this was snacks!)

the staff were very accommodating and friendly, even with our limited espanol

The Castle was enchanting and absolutely beautiful just what we wanted. The breakfast was included & it was outstanding.
We would of liked to know ahead of time about the tours available and be able to walk areas around the Castle which were closed to the public.

The room was really atmospheric, and the food was lovely. Staff were friendly and very competent. The location is lovely as well.
A wider choice on the menu would have been good, and the bed was a little bit smaller than would have been comfortable.

The hotel is small, interesting and set in a beautiful landscape. Unfortunately we experienced minor issues with the cleanliness and maintenance of our room.
Breakfast was excellent, with the exception of bland coffee. Dinner was fine and offered well prepared traditional dishes of the region. The English translation of the menu did not adequately list the ingredients of each dish.
We made a complaint to reception as we found the bedcover covered in the long black hairs of a previous guest.
We had a room with three windows overlooking the countryside, but two of these windows inexplicably were fitted with neither a shutter nor blind, so we were woken up very early each morning by the sunlight.
The largest window in the room had a damaged mechanism and was jammed shut. Reception staff were helpful in forcing the window open, eventually, but the problem was that it needed maintenance.
The bed was generous in size, but the mattress was certainly not a newer one and was beginning to sag in the middle.

stayed before and lots of good memories.
location and peaceful.
1.5
Our room was next to noisy building work and when we said we were disappointed to the reception staff, they did seem to be bothered at all. The hotel was only 30% occupied, so they could have given us a room away from the noise. Not good enough for a Hotel at this price point.

We had an amazing stay. The room was comfortable and spacious with the added bonus of sleeping inside a castle - very cool experience!
Breakfast was delicious. We would love to come back and stay there again.
everything was great!

Brilliant upgrade to tower room. Great experience! Stayed in castles before but this one was particularly great! Thanks to the staff and architect/ designers.

very special building, nice conversion, location stunning, facilities fine
room was nice but quite small, bathroom layout cramped with slightly aging furnishings
4.5
Location was in a fairytale position. Tranquil setting. Great for celebrating a special occasion. The unofficial parking attended did his job well, worth the Euro. The roast lamb was fabulous the first night but some of the menu was lost in translation. The walk along the gorge was blissful.
For the size of the room the bed could have been larger. The village on the Sunday was mostly closed.

Great stay at Parador de Alarcon! The city is small but charming, surrounded by great views. The hotel itself is super cozy, well equipped, and very comfortable. We had a very pleasant experience there, and the restaurant is also outstanding (we tried both dinner and breakfast there, and it was delicious). I would definitely recommend a stay here!
4.5
A truly extraordinary place - the castle/Parador itself, but also the whole fortification of the entire small town with several towers and walls. The small town is also very nice, with plaza, several churches, very nice houses, medieval athosphere, and quiet. Our superior room in the Torre de Homenaje was very well and stylishly (modern) equipped, including a Nespresso coffee machine. Personell was freiendly.
Like in many other Paradores, the menu of the restaurant could have included a few more dishes, but food quality and breakfast were good, as was the service. But this is a minor point.

Both the dinner and the breakfast were excellent. The dinner was one of the best meals we have had anywhere. Beautifully presented and very flavorful. We especially liked that there was a selection of wines from the local area.
Seriously, the only negative comment that I have is that the shape of the faucets at the bathroom sinks make it hard to turn off the water when your hands are wet and a little slippery. I had to dry my hands first, then turn off the water.
