The location in the National Park.
Breakfast was good but the food for the evening meal was awful - tough meat, overcooked fish and vegetables and unappetising soggy chips. I ordered a half portion of cheese and a half portion of ham every night as I hoped chef couldn‘t destroy either of them.
But even worse than the food were the disgusting stuffed wild animals, including four elephant‘s feet, displayed in the reception, sitting and dining areas.

We had a beautiful room and the staff was very friendly! And just for information - they have a bunch of free geese running around. We didn't mind at all, but I can imagine some people do and then would it be good to know, I guess. There is a big pool and you can go hiking or take walk in the stunning environment.
I didn't quite read it clearly, that it's forbidden to swim in the lake. On the homepage it says you can go fishing or canoe, but there should be a note that it is really forbidden to swim in the lake.
And unfortunately, we weren't really pleased with the food they served. I can imagine that it is rather difficult to get fresh food up in the mountains, but it was the preparation, too. Maybe it's just the way they cook in this area, but we were disappointed, as we were used to the great Andalusian cuisine. I expected more from a hotel with 4 stars.

Breakfast very good.
Dinner good but portions very large.
We thought the hotel was in Arroyo Frio as per the Booking .com write up. It was a shock to find out that it was a long distance from anywhere. The slope from our room to the reception and amenities was very steep and half the ground was loose clippings.

Breakfast was passable and view of the surrounding mountains very nice. The wood fire in the room was also appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The size of the complex and extensive use of electric lighting at night, plus the artificial pond with loud domestic geese completely ruin the rural ambience and undoubtedly create quite serious light and noise pollution in an otherwise idyllic and unspoiled area. As a result, the hotel feels out of place in its surroundings. In addition, the walls of the reception, café and restaurant are completely (!) filled with a grotesque collection of stuffed animal heads and other hunting 'trophies' from Spain and beyond, including elephant feet, ivory and a young lion. We visited the Sierra de Cazorla area to experience its wild nature, and were left horrified by this excessive and tasteless 'museum'. If it were only local animals we could at least understand given the hunting tradition in the region, but many of the African species are endangered in the wild and moreover the hotel is located in a nature protection area! To avoid this macabre scene we felt we had no option but to sit outdoors in freezing temperatures for every meal (3 x breakfast, 3 x dinner), and were unable to eat elsewhere since everything in the area was closed. The restaurant itself was poor for the price charged, with the food lacking flavour and attention to detail. The room was shabby and felt in need of an update, and the shower was ridiculous, quickly flooding the bathroom when attached to the wall. We were also made to pay for additional firewood, which was wet and unusable.

Very nice rural hotel in a beautiful natural setting (green all year long, which is rare in Andalucia!). Staff is very friendly and professional. There is a nice big pool near the lake of the property, where you’re greeted every now and then by a bunch of chatty geese. Breakfast is excellent by the way, although real fresh juice would be nice instead of concentrate.
The glass shower screen of our bathroom was not well fitted, so every shower turned the bathroom floor into a pool. So we wasted a lot of towels trying to keep the water at bay.
Although the produce used at the restaurant is of good quality, it wouldn’t be bad if they would send the cooks on a course to use more herbs and way fewer oil.
