Well I am extremely disappointed. I came to this venue before booking as I was getting married and wanted this venue for a pre photoshoot from which I booked two nights stay. I was told by a member of staff before booking that it was absolutely fine to have a pre photoshoot . However on the day I was told completely different , from which a wedding was booked on the day at the venue from which I spoke to a lady and said obviously I wasn’t told this and as long as we don’t step in each other’s toes can we continue to have a photoshoot which was told that’s fine as long as the conservatory where the wedding is isn’t disturbed . A male decided to disturb our shoot and tell us no photoshoot is allowed only in the bar area which is outside , a completely unreasonable male whom FAILED TO APOLOGISE and did not offer any resolution. I explained we aren’t here to disturb any wedding that’s taking place but I was told originally I am allowed to have a shoot hence why I am doing the booking ! It was absolutely absurd I will be writing a detailed review shortly and it is not the paying customers fault that management / staff cannot communicate with each other!

Facilities and staff seemed nice, unfortunately not able to be there long enough to use the spa.
We were given a dated, poor quality tiny room/bed and bathroom. The windows opened onto a roof upon which a security door was held open with a chair. It didn't feel particularly safe (particularly since it was too hot to shut the windows) .
We had also been held up in bad traffic after an accident, and arrived just after 9pm,.which meant not being able to get any hot food.

Breakfast was grand for me. I only ever have fruit juice tea & toast
WiFi free kept going off. Had to select it again & again.
A lift would have been a help especially bringing luggage downstairs. The stairs ok once I found the shorter way to my room.

Great setting, beautiful building and grounds. Food was great, both in country kitchen and terrace bar.
Rooms far too hot and no fans in 2 of the 3 rooms.
Staff weren’t very knowledgeable about surrounding area (we wanted to walk in/near grounds, but staff didn’t know anything about it)

The location of this hotel is beautiful, & the staff extremely pleasant.
Poor selection of fruit at breakfast, & also only sliced brow & white bread. I was surprised that out room, rated superior, was not serviced.

The location and scenery
The hotel room was not clean and was not as expected, it was very dirty. The facilities were not good and had to pay extra to use the swimming pool. I would not recommend only the location was nice, but it needs an upgrade and is not a 4 star hotel. They also charged me a deposit of £50 which I was not informed about and had to get my card.

Breakfast and dinner were both very good; amazing surrondings to go for a walk and great terrace to relax and have a drink while working.
Very dark bedroom, with a window to a small garden receiving barely any light. Room was quite old fashioned too.

The grounds and setting are lovely
Breakfast was the worst breakfast I've ever had. I went for the full English and most of the trays were empty i.e. no sausage, no eggs, no bread, rock hard black pudding and dry over cooked bacon. Just awful. I did complain to one of the managers at reception who was veryniceyand went to see the kitchen staff. Even though I'd paid I didn't bitheygoing for breakfast the following day.

The room was very nice, and well appointed, and staff were good.
When asked if it were possible to change three days single, to one day single and one day double for later use, this was refused, acknowledging that the booking was unrefundable.
Infexibility of the hotel appointments department did not make sense, as the change would have alowed the hotel to earn more were food and drinks included. The two days were therefore wasted.
Thank you to the the desk staff for trying to arrange this.

Great setting and very pleasant.
Great extras in Garden Room : crisps, biscuits, chocolate treats and bottled water
The Pool & Spa facilities can get busy and expect to wait for availability. The Garden View room is accessed via the conservatory and in cooler climate the access to room is cool. Room temperature good just had to set radiator when in room.
The meal in the Oak room was Al a Carte and very expensive (small portions suited myself but not my husband). Glad paid Bed Breakfast and Evening Meal but still had to pay as only allocated £30 per person for dinner (Think this needs revising if booking evening meal as package).

The hotel is in a beautiful location and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was nice with lots of variety from a full English to fresh fruit
Upon arrival the staff were friendly and informative about the hotel however, as I arrived around 8pm the restaurant was full so I decided to order some food in the bar lounge. I had quite a wait for my food and then when the waiter finally brought it over I was left without any cutlery and condiments so had to find someone to help.
Back in my room, there was a strong smell of cooking when i went in. The bottom of the shower tray was hanging off so I opted for a bath however, when I turned on the taps a lot of black mouldy looking debris came out with the water and I had to empty and rinse then start again a few times until the mess had totally cleared. This wasn't the best experience

Breakfast was fine. Staff were very friendly- just not enough of them.
Service was slow to the point of stationary - they didn’t have enough staff on and it felt like the hotel was at maximum capacity.

Okay. I have worked in the service industry plenty. feedback is VITAL. The spa, the grounds even my room were lovely (not everyone in our party’s experience) There were a couple of EXCELLENT staff fighting a losing battle
The management. Having several managers, who appear to be doing nothing but moving furniture, walk past several parties standing at the bar, telling them how long it’ll be til a server will have time to serve them, ISNT management. A REAL manager would serve. In the restaurant (not cheap) being told by the “supervisor” that a meal that has been complained about is your most popular, is NOT service. There were a couple of really hard working young staff members. Make THEM managers.

plenty of countryside and the staff were helpful
I had Come for a my cousins funeral the next day and paid fir an extra room for her daughter to relax before the day . during the night 2 am the fire alarms went off and we all had to assemble downstairs . A disturbed night was what we hoped to avoid . I was a false alarm I gather .I ask if there was going to be any compensation fir this and all the manager said was we will be writing to you . A free breakfast would he be cheered us up !! I await the letter

Breakfast was fine, plenty of hot choice, not much fruit available. But it was okay.
Spa facilities were fine, not very big.
No sleep, due to constant noise all night and fire alarm going off at 2am until 2.30am, but no instructions or reason and staff were very unsure what to do. No apology, and when complained the next morning duty manager was not aware of what actually happened. She said they would investigate but it was scary the way it was dealt with at 2am. I dread to think if there had been a real issue.

Comfortable room
Fire alarm went off about 5 times in the night. Didn't sleep at all after that.

Breakfast was great. and a lovely building and location.
Watching service was a bit like a faulty towers sketch, with customers all looking at each other in disbelief.
Waited over on hour for food and quality was shocking very poorly executed.
Clearly short on staff for the day and the staff we encountered were very poorly trained indeed not their fault.
