The staff are exceptional and the location is excellent. I can’t wait to come back.
The restaurant allows outside groups of people to book and eat there and as such the ambience of the hotel restaurant is ruined with loud gregarious youngsters in the evening. Such a pity as breakfast is a delight and only guests seem to book.

beautiful historic property, comfy bed
reasonably maintained but our room smelled of paint. town centre location means a but not noise but not too bad
4.1
No AC. No extractor fans. No machine noise. Historic building
Soulless restaurant and bar area
4.1
Well designed single room with superb view. Location to central town could not be better.
Only thing, and its a small issue, I ordered eggs benedict for breakfast which came with 2 eggs and lashings of ham but all based on just half a muffin - what happened to the other half ?

Castle Hotel has a flavor of the past, it has charm and style.
Rooms are not air-conditioned, the room was hot and despite the small fan, not comfortable. The bathroom was dated and not very well designed. The price does not match the overall quality and comfort.

Breakfast
BED, TOO HOT AND HARD

Room and bathroom were very spacious, extremely comfortable bed, The rooms and corridors were clean. The staff were brilliant and the breakfasts excellent especially recommend the in house made jam and marmalade. It was a great all round experience staying at the hotel.

Well located. Fantastic bed.
Nothing.

The hotel itself has a beautiful facade and imposing interior, very nice bathroom, comfy bed, great breakfast. Meeting room and food both good too. WiFi was excellent.
The price seemed very high compared with the many, many hotels I've stayed in. Presumably you're paying for the hotel, rather than the bedroom. My bedroom was fine, but nothing special, and I looked out onto the square and a bingo hall. There was a surprising amount of noise outside in the early hours, which isn't the hotel's fault, of course. The overall rating of 7 would have been much higher if the room was half of what I paid (£257).

location and service
The breakfast was good but not memorable
The night staff were unhelpful
It was not clear that there was no bath in our suite
Car Park charges - no discount for hotel guests
4.1
Staff very welcoming, good breakfast selection and also you can order somthing from the chef, I would recommend the eggs benedict very enjoyable
Our room was very basic and dated, the TV was very low on a stand so when in bed we could only see the top of it so had to put our suitcase on the stand and put tv on that, i would suggest re-thinking the room so it can be placed on the wall, also room above Nandos so grease smells waft up.

olde world charm, breakfast, comfortable beds
lift and door locks very old. price of stay and price of drinks, very hot room
4.1
The hotel is comfortable and smart without being bland. It has a lot of atmosphere and the balance of formal and casual is perfect. We had drinks in the Norman Gardens and it was very beautiful in the spring sunshine. The breakfast was absolutely delicious.
I forgot my toothpaste and there wasn't any at the desk which was disappointing given the high standard of hospitality experienced in all other areas. To be this pedantic, everything else was great
4.1
The staff were extremely attentive; the food was wonderful. I had a disabled relative as a guest and the hotel went overboard to ensure everything went smoothly for him
Our stay could have been longer!
4.1
The hotel was exceptional and the staff very helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The location of the hotel was good as well, right in the centre of town but neatly hidden.
The only gripe was that there were no spare sockets beside the bed or any spare that was square pin - the ones that were there were old round pin and no USB sockets.

Excellent range to choose from. Veggie breakfast was delicious.
Everything was perfect

location
beds were very firm … room wasn’t spotless cobwebs on ceiling .. no fridge, no bar area only in restaurant next door which was noisy … not a lot of ambience

Friendly staff. I left my glasses. They sending back to me.
I was charged for a bread basket. For my pate but they took off the bill.

close to the municipal buildings so perfect for an overnight stay for a wedding.
okay breakfast as well
dog friendly. room has a dog bowl for water
next door to multiple night clubs so not much sleep.
had to pay for parking Ontop of the room
not one bit of “good will favour” considering we stayed with them for our wedding.
walls are less than paper thin
not much communication between staff as we had a planned visit no one was told about
cleaners went in room without a sign saying room service please (the fact this is ignored makes the sign redundant)

Great stay...lovely room...we asked for breakfast in our room at a certain time and they did bring the breakfast but they knocked on the wrong door and left it outside the room so by the time we realised it wasn't that warm
The twin beds were pushed together and we kept falling down the divide so a matteres topper would have been a good idea
4.1
The breakfast was nothing special but ok
The room was small and we did not have warm water in the shower….
