The steps up from the bedroom to the en suite at night
Very dark
All rather tired and living on its reputation
4.3
Comfort, character, excellent staff, location, spa.
Service charges creeping up- now standard 12.5% on everything.
4.3
Location
Spa poor , room too hot, service charge added to everything; £365 for a room didn’t even include breakfast, food was nothing special. Trading off its reputation but way off the price paid

It’s beautiful location, the history, comforting decor, pleasant staff, the lovely courtyard and grounds and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel.
Unfortunately we had issues around the cleanliness of the room - coffee mug and spoon left dirty from previous guests, damp towel left in the bathroom and dusty furniture - not what we were expecting for £300 per night

Location and building
Breakfast was cold and the milk was off
The bedroom I booked on booking.com specified a Bath and they did not have one and no choice
I complained and they took the Breakfast off the bill but no apology
I have repeated my complained to the hotel but they never come back to me.
I have complained through booking.com and had no reply.
I simply did not get what I had booked and the breakfast was COLD , I the sour milk on the cereal was very bad.

Lovely size room, quiet and well equipped. Great breakfast and meal in the Grill. Great staff, plenty of car parking.
Walking through the Grill to our room seemed a bit strange

Friendly staff, happy to help with anything. Room we booked was much bigger than we expected. Spa and gym were lovely and much needed during one of the rainy days we were there. Lots of choice for breakfast which was great. Plenty of places to sit and relax and just read / drink coffee.
Minor things: the room we had didn't have a shaving mirror in the bathroom or a good mirror for putting on any make up so if you had wanted to do that you would have struggled.

Breakfast good, although having to get your own toast, we found odd. Room a little too far from entrance etc.
Dinner a little disappointed with our second course, my husbands cod did not have any mussels and the fennel
very hard to get your knife into it. My Halibut seemed as though it had been kept warm under a grill as the top
of the fish was well over cooked. We would not book again for 8.15, as that was all they had, as our second course
arrived at 9.15, just a little bit late for us. The dinning room had a lovely feel to it.

The old part of the building is fabulous. The staff were all lovely and accomodating. Breakfast was fantastic.
Nice room with outside seating.
I upgraded from a cozy room in the original hotel to a larger room in a newer part. I wished I hadn't as the new part we were in was built in the 80s which was quite obvious when you approached the room from the outside. I would've given up space for the romance of the old building had I realised when asked if I was happy with the room.

Beautiful building and lovely location.
Wouldn’t say it was a luxury hotel very average. disappointing spa but run down and basic.
Very uncomfortable pillows nothing amazing about the rooms or service.
4.3
Very friendly helpful staff at Dinner and Breakfast. Good ambience and loved the fact that there were lots of quiet sitting areas in the hotel.
Good pool and jacuzzi

Pre-arrival organisation was superb, nothing was too much trouble and all very well organised.
Hotel Staff were excellent, location and surroundings are very pleasant. Food was of a good standard but expensive.
The hotel is an excellent place to stay with a dog, very friendly.
We booked several rooms for a family celebration, plus private dining. Room 10 is just not of an acceptable standard to be classed as a Main House Superior, we ended up having to move rooms on the day of my wife's birthday. less than ideal.
Food is of a good but not exceptional quality and is expensive.

No complaints whatsoever.

Location, location, location! The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional which made this an excellent experience. Pool and fitness area were also great. The dining facility is nice and the food very good. Lastly, the gardens and outdoor space is spectacular!

Excellent breakfast.
Very pleased with the recent, more convenient parking arrangement.

it was very quaint & unique. central location. spa included.
was quite expensive, missing a few little touches, like nibbles with a drink. we had an issue with getting in our room on the 2nd day, had to go to reception twice for a lady to then help get it fixed herself whilst leaving us in the room.

It is a treasure. The Lygon Arms is part of the town’s history. It is so expansive and has so many offerings. There is a spa which is wonderful after traveling or hiking. The food is amazing and you can eat in several different settings. The best part of the Lygon Arms is the people who work there. From the moment you arrive they are ready to help you park, grab your bags and help you in any way. Especially Rosie and Marcus were my and my husband’s favorites (respectively). They helped us so much especially when a flat Tyre slowed us down.
It was wonderful. No faults whatsoever.

Generous sized rooms steeped in history! Really a grand place to stay with great service and good food. The location is superb!
We found the heating a bit high but that was dealt with and the stairs are quite narrow and steep. Car park was a fair distance from the hotel.

The James Martin Grill unfortunately was not at the standard expected for the price point.

Everything was exceptional. Check-in process was fast and hassle-free and it was a nice touch that we were personally shown to our room. Free parking was just behind the hotel and very convenient. Spa facilities were lovely. Dinner was absolutely terrific - brilliant non-alcoholic options and fantastic food. Overall would highly recommend.
Honestly, I don't think anything could have been done differently or improved upon. For a one-night stay in the Cotswolds it was excellent.

Absolutely Beautiful Old Property with lots of comfy sofas in cosy little snugs with crackling fires in a Wonderful Cotswold Village Location, well behaved Dogs Really Welcome, Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, Aromatherapy Massage in their Spa was an hour of bliss & the food in James Martins new Grill & Restaurant was absolutely delicious - not cheap but absolutely more than worth it
