Beautiful decor, a stunning hotel with an EXTREMELY comfortable bed with excellent quality bedding.
Lovely toiletries, great bedside radio that connected to Bluetooth to play my own music in the morning, friendly and helpful staff.
Unfortunately the wooden floor in our room seemed a tiny bit sticky.. thankfully most of the floor was a large rug tho.

Staff, comfort, room/bathroom size, cleanliness, room décor and facilities and shower were excellent
Parking....or communication about available parking options...staff seemed scared to discuss parking!

Room, was good if somewhat dark due to only a small attic window. Shower excellent. Very dog friendly' Room was 55 steps from the ground floor (46 up and 9 down) which is quite a hike; breakfast very good, Bar area good.
lift to 2nd floor would have been ideal. stair carpet a bit worn.

The hotel and the rooms were stunning and the location is fab!
The food was great but the service was very slow at breakfast.
The bed was very comfy but the pillows were completely flat lumpy which was a shame. I maybe could have swapped them at reception but didn’t get a chance to ask.
There’s also no hotel parking which is an issue when you take a car at the weekend as all the car parks have time limits. They should have a deal with the car park company to offer hotel parking as part of the package.

Nice room just a bit small for two people.
Lovely location in a beautiful little town.
Great restaurant.
Some of the staff not well trained. Wrong cutlery for the different dishes at dinner.
Friday night dj was too loud and in December some Christmas atmosphere would have been better.
Bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke.
At breakfast we were immiately informed that we hadn't booked or paid for breakfast up front so we would have to pay extra. I know what I booked and if I didn't want to I would have left without breakfast. Very harsh in front of other guests. Also the breakfast menu changed within the last 3 weeks and my last stay so I asked if I could have the previously offered version and was again told that will be possible but only for extra costs. All felt it was just about money and not happiness and comfort of the guests.

Bedroom was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We were very kindly allocated a bedroom on the first floor as requested due to my mobility problems. Staff during the evening that we stayed were very busy, hard working and seemed to be short staffed - but they were also very cheerful, friendly, helpful and courteous.
Bar closed at 10pm. Service in the Restaurant very slow, roast potatoes rock solid hard and green veg inedible. We were charged £9. 02 in gratuities which we were unaware of, My husband didn’t want a cooked breakfast and so ordered 2 rounds of toast and marmalade.instead. When we checked the bill it seems that they charged us £10.50 for this. The information given to us on the paperwork received from Booking. com said that Dinner could be booked for £25 per person. I booked us in over the phone in advance with the Grosvenor arms and instead of being charged £75 for 3 of us we were charged £83. 75

Staff were great. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was excellent.
Hotel looked tired in common areas and the stairs were dirty. The price was quite high for room only.

The hotel was lovely, staff were very helpful. Our rooms were large and clean, we brought a dog with us and there was a welcome gift for him. The food was excellent, the best burger I've had for a long time.
The only down side was our rooms were at the front of the hotel which was by the main street, so we were woken up early.

excellent service, rooms and food

Breakfast was excellent and staff very accomodating .My dog was delighted to be given chopped up sausages in a most elegant bowl.
I was not aware there would not be any night porter and as a lone woman with scaffolding up around the front of the hotel where my room was it felt quite concerning as my mobile had no signal. I checked in very late and had to catch the departing staff to be given the wifi code as the direction on the hygenic perspex tablet in the room was to acess it through the QR code which I could not!

Great location, room was modern and very clean. The bar area was nice with good choice of beverages and the service from all the staff was spot on. The full English breakfast was great as well..

lovely place in keeping with the aesthetic and feel of the the town. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Had lovely dinner and breakfast. Perfect English country hotel. Loved the email prior to arriving, we packed a small bag for the night so that we didn't have to lug our big suitcases up the stairs. Very considerate thinking ahead....

Right in the heart of town .
Very well decorated and has a lovely atmosphere.
Nice to get a free patking pass for the long stay car park just round the corner..
There is no front reception area so you feel you are approaching the restaurant check in rather than the hotel check in but the staff are really friendly.

A very good start in that we were upgraded to a "balcony suite" on arrival by a charming receptionist Danielle because the room we had been allocated was at the end of the third floor and we were clearly too old and disabled to reach that easily, the hotel having no lift beyond the first floor! Staff throughout were welcoming and helpful.
Facilities old fashioned and lack of lift offputting. Food could have been better, especially for breakfasts, which were very basic. Cost was high for what was offered.

peroid features well appointed rooms friendly staff dog friendly
The shade of green the room was was a bit drab depressing

Lovely old hotel with lots of character, with a well appointed room and the breakfast was amazing.
Very welcoming and attentive staff.
We had quite a noisy room at the front of the hotel which is right on the main street and the curtains did not block much daylight, so unfortunately we slept badly, This was a real shame as otherwise the hotel was excellent, we would definitely stay again, but only if we can specify a room at the back of the hotel away from the road noise.
