Won't be visiting again

The bed was very comfortable

Despite the site and the printed menus stating that the restaurant is available on Sundays, it appears that is not the case. We would have stayed elsewhere had we known prior to paying for the stay

Will not be staying again.

The actual hotel was not a problem. Very clean and comfortable. However, the lack of communication between staff members and the availability of facilities really let this place down. When booking and having looked on the website, it states the restaurant/cocktail bar is open every day. This was not the case. It is in fact closed all day on Sunday, something that we were neglected to be informed of. This meant there was no chance of an evening meal at the hotel or a drink at the end of the evening. This would have been fine if the information online told us this prior to arrival. Upon asking on the Sunday about this the staff quite rudely informed us that it had been this way since January and that a private function was happening instead. Staff were awful about it all and honestly ruined the stay.However, all the menus in the bedroom stated food availabile on Sundays. Massive miscommunication with paying guests and in need of updating their advertising if that is the case.

Very disappointing, won’t be back

Location good, staff friendly and helpful. Asked for accessible room and was given one

The most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever tried to sleep on. Gave up partway through the night and tried to sleep on the sofa, that was also uncomfortable. Why was there a lock on the outside of the bathroom door? I was unable to access the breakfast buffet as there were steps to it. My husband had to tell me what was available and get it for me. Music too loud at breakfast. Sat at same table as night before and our crumbs were still there.

Spur of the moment trip

Room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The lift wasn't working, which we were informed about on booking so it wasn't a surprise, but I did appreciate the heads-up.

The corridors and hallways looked a little tired and in need of some attention.

We will never return to the Hilcrest hotel as very poor value for money.

No shower pressure or cold water. Bed matress too soft causing back pain. Shower rooms not refurbished. Poor value fof money. We have been using the Hillcrest 2-4 times a year and thefe is always a drama with thus hotel. Last winter there was no heating from the radiators and our recent visit, the radiators were airlocked causing an inscescant noise in the early hours. We complainef and staff changed our room.

Interesting

The bar/restaurant looks good and the bar was well well stocked. The outside area was pleasant.

The car park looks awful when you arrive, very weedy and as a first impression for guests not a good impression. The plastic plants in the outside seating area are awful and need to go. Finally and the worst thing of all was the sleepless night on the second night with something wrong with the pipes, they made a racket all night and I didn’t sleep! Wasn’t just me, we had family staying in different rooms on the same floor and it kept them awake all night, really not good enough especially as no compensation was offered for this sleepless night. For our last night they did offer us an alternative room after we had complained that had been re-furbished and was a good quiet room.

Shocking bed was not comfy

Nothing felt like my stay wasn’t plesent at all got woke up by the work men

I think this hotel isn’t run properly it also has workers all over the building ripping flooring up and laying laminate down now shorly that is illegal to keep residents were people are working fire safety and all that

Amazing as always

Staff at the hotel are always welcoming and helpful. Reasonably priced comfortable rooms. The hotel has been transformed since I first ever stayed here. It looks and feels very nice when staying at the hillcrest.

Staff were friendly, breakfast was lovely and function suite was excellent.

The lift didn't seem reliable, room was fine but a little more basic than I expected.

Glad we didnt pay more than we did.

Nice hotel, staff amazing, restaurant food fab.

Noisy neighbours who decided to bath at 2.30am and shout all over the place until 6am. Partner had to go and complain about 3/4 times throughout the night/morning.

Relaxing and calm

The staff are always so friendly and helpful on the desk and never make you feel like a burden when you have issues they have always been resolved efficiently.

waste of money

not much

there is no control over guests , must be accommodating anyone , absolute disgrace the noise levels with staff not caring at all, even after being phoned reference the noise , will never return , if you want peace don’t stay here

Horrendous, will not be using Hillcrest Hotel again and would advise others to do the same.

Hotel is run down and shabby and in need of severe renovations. Used for wedding and birthday parties and therefore constant noise into the small hours, therefore people hanging around entrance making it feel unwelcoming and unsafe. No complaints system in place and no manager on site when needed. No hot water during our stay and no response to my email from manager.

Was kept awake by a function that was on in the hotel until 2am with a strong smell of drugs being smoked below the room balcony. The doors were open due to how hot the room was. Will not stay again
