The room was lovely. The pool and facilities are excellent. The receptionist Sue was super nice and very helpful.
The wait staff were untrained and didn’t provide a basic service. We had to ask for basic things like an extra bowl when we were sharing plates. We received the wrong orders. We felt like the staff had very little or no training and not reflected of a 5 star resort.
I had orders forgotten and had to ask for things twice.
The restaurant dinner menu was limited and the eggplant was very poor. We dined at other restaurants as we were not impressed with the service or the food as we had been in other years. Some of the wait staff were great and you could tell the staff that were experienced and those that were not.
The gift shop had very limited stock.

The room was comfortable. The rainforest was great. The pool was good. Staff amazing.
When it was raining, there wasn't much to do. Some games in the room would be good, or movie channels. Not every guest can cast to the TV as the older generation doesn't always have phones.

I have been staying at this hotel (with a kitchenette) for many years and love it because of its location - in the middle of a rainforest close to the best beach in the world! It's out of town but they have a shuttle service and Uber is brilliant in Byron now. I have many friends in this little town and this hotel is my one-stop for R&R! There's free yoga in the morning, little wallabies hopping around the trees, a superb pool, and spa and the food is exceptional under new chef Jordan. They are really Eco under the new ownership too. You won't see any paper anywhere and no towel and washing waste.
The hotel has been taken over by new owners Crystalbrook and a lot of updating has gone on. But I don't like the new sofas in the room because the L shape has gone - so good for watching TV - and I hated the new bathrobes - nowhere warm enough for the winter! Not impressed with the TV either.....all the apps have to be accessed through your 'phone which I really couldn't be bothered to go through as the wifi is not the best in that part of Byron.

Everything. Beautifully designed facility, meticulously well cared for. Amazing rain forest walkways. Wonderful staff. Excellent restaurant.

We utilised the tennis facilties the weather wasnt the greatest to use the pool but we loved the environment, being away from the noise surrounded by trees and lake was a lovely escape from our busy life

Loved the service and the staff - exceptional. I felt well looked after and that staff were approachable and professional. Elemes Spa was wonderful as well. Loved the movies on demand - this is now rare to find in hotels.
The room service food was average. A cucumber salad was served on a hot pasta and was inedible. The pasta itself was unremarkable. The room service menu was limited and the service fee was excessive.
The facilities are a little dated (my front sliding door was missing a lock). In particular, the shower cornices were rusted and cracked and this made them look dirty and old.

The accommodation was lovely but next time I would ask for an apartment on the lower level due to stairs.
I was very disappointed in the food. The first 2 evenings dinner I was sick and never dared to eat there again. It was very inconvenient as we had to travel by taxi at night to find a restaurant when I would have preferred to stay at the hotel.

The view and the room itself
It was perfect. There was nothing bad about it.

location is beautiful, accomodation is pretty nice.
Everything at the restaurant that we tried was very average. Coffee not good, egg & bacon roll had boiled bacon on it. Staff weren’t particularly nice. Spa on site had very disappointing Massuse’s that did not listen to what was asked for. Pool is so deep you cannot stand, through whole depth, which is very unsafe when trying to swim with your kids. Kids pool was dirty and very boring for kids. Overall a disappointing experience for more than $600 a night. The previous owners did a better job.

The entire environment into a subtropical jungle. Wow
Leaving that beautiful place

It has a special magical feel being in the middle of the rainforest. The food is decent. The staff is nice.
The common areas are first and foremost a children’s playground. The swimming pool is completely overtaken by kids (at one point we counted 18 in and around the pool!) and they are yelling, jumping, diving and completely disregarding anyone else in the pool. It means adults can’t really relax by the pool or swim. Staff do not try to remind the families to be more thoughtful of other guests.
Overall the hotel needs a facelift. The walkways to the rooms are falling apart with nails sticking out. The hotel room area also looks more like long forgotten labs in Jurassic Park and would benefit from a repaint.
The gym is absolutely too small. Can at best handle two people at best, ideally just one.

Dining menu and drinks very expensive.
