About this house rental
Welcome to ‘Cypress Cove’ on St George Island, a unique barrier island in the Florida Panhandle!
Currently we have the following weeks open in 2025
April 12 – May 17
June 28 – September 20
Multiple remaining weeks
Our gated community - ‘The Plantation’ - offers a lengthy 5-mile quiet stretch of private beach, 12 miles of paved bike/walking paths, access to fishing at Bob Sikes’s Cut, lush native vegetation and open forest, plus a Clubhouse where you can enjoy a 70’ swimming pool, tennis court, and fitness room. The primary beach access boardwalk and public parking is adjacent to the Clubhouse. Our home is a short walking distance (1.5 blocks) to the Clubhouse.
Plantation amenities also include a second swimming pool, tennis court, and small clubhouse, as well as three pickle ball courts and a newly constructed boardwalk/kayak launch across from Resort village parking lot. There is 24/7 on-site security with a guardhouse entry-point. A Plantation gate pass, including names of all guests, is required for entry and is included in your VRBO payment. We request all guests be included in the booking request.
Our unique ONE-STORY residence is a wonderful choice for a relaxing vacation! At 1500 ft.², we are “cottage sized”, perfect for small families or couples. We offer a slice of ‘Old Florida’. Our home is not suitable for three adult couples due to size and shared facilities.
We offer privacy on a 2.5 acre bayfront double lot with wonderful views, your very own dock with a KAYAK LAUNCH and SHALLOW water boat slip suitable for “flats boats” only. We have one of the few kayak launches in The Plantation. Our launch provides perfect access to Apalachicola Bay for paddling, exploring, and fishing.
Our open floor plan residence has a warm, inviting atmosphere with comfortable living-room furnishings (two custom sofas), a very well-equipped and updated gourmet kitchen, vaulted living-room ceiling, hardwood/tile flooring, plus high-speed 20/1.5 bonded connection internet (fastest available speed on island). The four TVs each have Roku players streaming free Netflix, HBOMax, Acorn, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Peacock, PBS-on demand, and Kanopy. We have a 42”, 40”, and two 32” flatscreen Samsung TVs. Guests are able to access their personal subscription services ie Apple TV, BritBox, Sling, Paramount, etc. via the Roku device.
We directly overlook Apalachicola Bay from our wraparound deck and screened porch, with multiple sliding glass french doors offering views in every direction. Breathtaking sunsets! It has the best of both worlds - bayside views with cove fishing, but only a short stroll to the beach. When the ocean side waves are high, you can hear the pounding surf at our house.
We are situated on a secluded natural site with landscaped front and side lawns. The backyard lot has a mowed 'shortcut' walking path that ties into Lark Lane, one block from the Plantation clubhouse and beach access. Birdwatching and stargazing are both excellent here. Only three other homes are located off Bayview Drive.
This is our family's cozy island retreat, our "home away from home", not a basic rental unit. We kindly ask that guests treat our home as they would their own.
Saturday to Saturday rental only, all linens and departure day cleaning included in rate.
We have a 150’ long boardwalk extending over native wetlands to our private dock, with a shallow water "flats boat" slip. The dock also has a step down 4' x 8' kayak launch platform with railings to assist in entry/exit from your boat (see photo). Kayak fishing is excellent in the shallow All Tides Cove. Kayaks are NOT included with home rental.
We keep a crab trap at the ready and fish directly from our dock - we catch redfish and sea trout right in the cove in front of our house. Mullet are frequently observed jumping too! Kids can enjoy watching small fish and crabs move about under the dock.
***Water levels at the dock ebb and flow with the tides, typical V-hull boats will not be able to access the boat slip during low tide.***
There is an excellent public concrete boat ramp next to the bridge and several less developed sand/oyster shell ramps on the island for launching your V-hull boat. Two of the more primitive ones are located on the far end of the island at the state park (fee).
The two delightful bike paths extend the length of The Plantation, we HIGHLY recommend you bring or rent additional bikes for the whole family.
A $100 entrance pass fee is charged per rental for use of Plantation amenities and is included in the VRBO quote. The Plantation requires their Rental Form be filled out in advance of arrival including a list of names of ALL persons to be occupying our home.
NO DOGS permitted except for monthly winter rentals, regardless of weight or breed. Please do not request special permission to bring "small" dogs.
* Two Queen bedrooms (Minka-Aire ceiling fans), 1 twin bed bedroom. All bedrooms have double sliding glass doors leading to the wrap-around deck and the living room has double and triple sliding glass doorways, all with great vistas.
* One master bath, plus two additional skylight lite bathrooms sharing a tub/shower room between them (Jack-and-Jill style arrangement). All granite or custom marble countertop vanities.
* High-speed internet plus four TVs with Roku players..

* Additional outdoor hot/cold shower.

House was wonderful. Property was peaceful and quiet with a great view. Nice dock to just sit and ponder.

The house and property were so nice. Beautiful sunsets, roomy and comfortable. There was everything one would need for an active and relaxing vacation.

This house was beautiful and perfect for the family. We rented kayaks for the week and definitely took advantage of the dock and the bay. The screened in porch and those bayside views, was the perfect spot for morning coffee!! The property owners were very sweet and so helpful.

Our family of 5 adults found the property to be very clean and well maintained. The view of the bay was gorgeous. We were easily able to use the dock to kayak in the bay. We are nature lovers and enjoyed the maritime forest environment and variety of birds at the feeders. There was plenty of garage space for sheltered parking and bike storage. The house is located near the clubhouse and pool which we enjoyed. We found the nature trail to the beach easy to navigate with an equipment cart and so went every day. The owner is very attentive to details and easy to contact. We hope to visit again.

We had a great time here! Our favorite things were the dock to the bay, the sunsets and the screened in porch. The house had several thoughtful touches like extra hand soaps and cooking spices etc. Everyone had room to spread out in our family of four. We rented kayaks which we kept at the dock so we could go out whenever we wanted. We also rented bikes for an easy ride down to the beach or pool. When we were at the house, we could just enjoy the views and solitude there. The owner was responsive to our messages and offered her favorite things to do in the area. We also left a bag on accident and she worked to locate it and help return it to us. She has been a pleasure to work with! Would definitely rent again.

This was our first trip to the Plantation on St. George Island and really enjoyed our stay at Cypress Cove. The sunsets from the dock are spectacular and the fishing is good as well. Cypress Cove is also really convenient to the pool and beach access. Louise and Danial’s are great hosts.

Life on St George Island is quiet, peaceful and a lot of fun. Our house was perfectly suited to the our group of 6. Super clean, cozy and surrounded by trees and birds plus a bald eagle. The board walk out to the dock was one of our favorites. Twice a day we checked our crab trap, watched jumping fish and a dolphin. We rented bikes and rode all over on the paved trails. Having two pools ( not heated) was great. Good restaurants on the Island and our favorite was a donut shop with fresh donuts every morning ( get there early). Beaches are beautiful with white sand and emerald green water. Lots of shells. Bring lots of bug spray especially for no see ‘‘em bugs. Worst time for them is March and April. They even got to us in the screened in porch. Wear long sleeves and pants plus bug spray. We loved our house and the Plantation is gorgeous. Plenty to do on and off the island. Apalachacola Is historic and quaint with good shopping. Highly recommend

My family and a few visiting friends loved Cypress Cove. It’s cute, clean and perfectly stocked with every amenity you might need. You can tell that this home is well loved and cared for. And we all fell in love with the quiet peacefulness of its surroundings. Communication with the owners was very easy and they were always very prompt in returning any queries we had. We can’t wait to return next year! PS - the sunsets from the dock are spectacular! Not to be missed!

House was a perfect layout for my husband and me and another couple. Loved the screened in porch to relax in the evening. Kitchen had everything you would want. Views of the sunsets were amazing. Louise is an excellent host and very responsive. Nice boardwalk to the dock. Just perfect!

Louise obviously wants her guests to have the best experience during their stay
Her attention to detail and communications, extra information about the area, and having everything in the way of appliances and cookware were beyond anything we have ever experience in many years of vrbo rentals.

Excellent location for backbay fishing. And close to the pool.

The home is beautiful. Nestled in the trees with a beautiful view of the bay and georgeous sunsets. A short easy walk to the beach. Even shorter and easier if you bring your bikes. The owner communicated with us very well and was super friendly and personable. We like to move our vacations around, but if we do go back to St. George Island, this is where we will be staying! Only good things to say! Thankful to have found this place. We saw lots of wildlife. Highly recommend exploring the estuary research center that Louise mentions in her welcome letter, and wakula springs(we arrived in the area a day early, and did this one on our way to the house) and so glad we did!

We had a great week at this lovely waterfront cottage in the Plantation. The description on the listing is accurate and it was so nice to find it even better "in person" than the pictures! The home has been well-maintained and was very clean upon our arrival. My children loved the dock and the entire family enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets. A short walk or bike ride to the pool/clubhouse/ocean. Thank you so much for sharing this special place with us!

House is located in a great location with beautiful sunset views. We caught our redfish limits almost daily kayaking. Nice home to come back to and relax with family and friends. Hope to return next year.

This home is so charming and very well kept. The pictures don’t do it justice. The kitchen is well stocked and there are lots of books and games for rainy days. We enjoyed kayaking, and fishing from the dock, and saw beautiful sunsets each evening. Communication with Louise was fantastic. This home is a treasure. Looking forward to coming back.

Everything was perfect! Great location, great house (very well stocked kitchen) and probably the best sunsets on the island. Can't wait to return! Thanks again.

Everything as advertised and more. The property was amazing. Pictures don't do it justice. The kids and I really enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the dock. The view of the sun setting into the bay each evening was breathtaking. Proximity to beach and pool were great. It's only a 5 minute walk to the pool/beach, but having the option to park in the pool parking lot and keep a bunch of stuff in the car to grab if/when needed was an added bonus! Louise was extremely helpful and gave us some great recommendations. Can't wait to go back!

The home was very clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the house was stocked with games, puzzles, and plenty to keep us busy when we were taking a break from the beach. We loved watching the sun set on the bay and how close we were to the clubhouse and beach. The house was close to everything but still felt very private. Check in was a breeze and communication with Louise was top notch.

My family and I have been vacationing on SGI for many years. This is by far the best rental home we have had.
The layout of the home is perfect for privacy when you need it and also time together with family. Sunset views were spectacular! The owner is great to communicate with and clearly wants to make sure you have a great stay. We found the home to be well supplied with the items we needed! I highly recommend this home for your SGI vacation!!

Perfect location for a family that enjoys both the beach plus being on the bay. Easy to enjoy both from this location.

Our week at Cypress Cove could NOT have been better! My husband and I went with our three adult sons and had a fabulous time from start to finish. The location of the house on the bay side of the island afforded amazing views of the sunset every night from our favorite spot on the screened in porch. Everything about the house was relaxing…the views across the bay, the sounds of the surrounding nature, and even the fun style of the house itself. Louise, the owner, was quick to respond to any question we had and was helpful in every way! My sons all agreed this was definitely a favorite vacation and want to go back again next year!

The house was very nice. Well stocked, great location in the Plantation. Owner was awesome to deal with. Did need bug repellent on the dock. Lots of noseeums! Very common along the bay. Sunsets were amazing from the porch!! Nice screened porch too.

Our first trip to St. George Island - we'll definitely be back.
Cypress Cove was exactly as described, and perfect for our group. Being Bayside was ideal for Fishing, Kayaking, Crabbing and just checking out the the wildlife in general (Bald Eagles, Sting Rays, dolphins, etc).
The home was clean and well stocked. Clear communication. No Surprises. Highly Recommended.
During our week long stay, we Kayaked (rental kayaks delivered to the house), Played Tennis (very welcoming community), Walked the Beach (very uncrowded), Used the fitness center (usually wide open), Fished and Crabbed from the dock (success with each). We also ate a lot of oysters. (The Blue Parrot restaurant became our nightly haunt).

We came south for a mild winter at the sea. This property was perfect for relaxation, reading, hobbies, and a lovely view of the bay. inside a gated community, it was quiet and secure. The property was well-maintained, and very well equipped.

We’ll designed, furnished and equipped house in natural setting on the bay and only a short walk to the beach. Nearest couple of neighbors were several hundred feet away. We all enjoyed kayaking, biking, and beach walks. Would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves.

Great location on the bay for kayaking and access to fishing. Loved seeing the bald eagle flyover several times during our stay. Sunsets were beautiful! Also, Plenty of room for parking 2 pickups and our fishing boat/trailer. Owner was very responsive. Home is older but comfortable and kitchen well stocked for cooking. October weather was perfect!

Stayed at Cypress Cove in September of 2022. Incredible experience from day 1 to day 7.
My family has stayed at either Cape San Blas or St George for the past 6 years. We’ve stayed in Plantation for the last three years and absolutely love the entire neighborhood. Overall the beaches and community are extremely uncrowded and sparsely developed. Almost all of the properties are surrounded/separated by trees. I can’t think of another beach in Florida that even comes close.
Staying at Cypress Cove was our first time staying “bayside”. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish.
The house is on an extremely large lot and is exceptionally private, even for Plantation standards. The view from the house is absolutely beautiful. We especially enjoyed the kayak/paddleboard dock. It was so nice to have such easy access to the bay…we took almost daily sunrise and sunset paddles around the bay, fishing and enjoying the incredible wildlife that the bay is home to. We couldn’t believe how little boat traffic there was…we felt as if we had the entire bay to ourselves at most times. We also made good use of the crab pot attached to the dock, and most mornings had 4 or 5 good sized blue crabs.
The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked. It is very tastefully decorated…it pulls off the “beachy/vacation vibe” without being tacky or cliche in any way. Something very very few places we’ve stayed at the beach manage to do. Bathrooms and kitchen are recently updated, and the kitchen is extremely well stocked with all kinds of high end appliances/gadgets/cookware. Anyone who likes to cook will find almost anything they could need in the kitchen.
Checkin and checkout process was a breeze. The owners were extremely communicative and easy to work with.
We plan on making this our go to beach destination for years to come.

Great location on our favorite Island! Close to the pools and beach. Kayaking on the Bay! Along with some good seafood places; Lynn’s Oysters across the bridge is always a favorite!

house was great, Fishing on dock was the best. Great communication with owners.

We had a smooth and fantastic experience at this lovely property. We felt like we were on a private island in the Plantation. The location of the house is beautiful, in the trees and on the bay. The view from the house is incredible. Beach access was easy. Since we brought a lot with us (fishing poles, chairs, etc) to the beach, we drove to the clubhouse and walked from there. It was an easy walk. The beach was quiet, sometimes we were the only ones out there. We kayaked from the bay, biked the paths in the Plantation, and essentially had the clubhouse pool to ourselves. The house was comfortable for our family, had all we needed and more. The screened porch was a favorite. This was our first visit to SGI, and we were impressed. The home owner’s local recommendations for places to go and eat were excellent, she was very gracious. This was a special trip, as our oldest leaves for college next week- and it was a great family experience.

We’ve been coming to St. George for many years and this was one of our favorite rentals. The owner communication and recommendations were great! The house was well equipped and stocked. What we loved most is that we were able to be on the bay and the pool and the beach are within walking distance.

This was our first time staying on the bay side and we really enjoyed it! The fishing and sunsets off the back dock were amazing. The kitchen was well supplied, and the house was very comfortable for our family. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we plan on returning!

We loved the house and the stay. The plantation was great and Louise gave us a lot of great info about the area. The only thing I would say to consider when staying bay side is that there will be a lot of mosquitoes so be sure to bring bug spray. The sunsets were worth fighting the mosquitoes!

The house was exactly as pictured on VRBO. Very private, having your own dock was a plus. I love to cook we ate every meal at the house. The absolute best well equipped kitchen, had Everything! Appliances are top notch. The beds were very comfy. The screened porch and deck were great for dining, reading and anxiously awaiting the overwhelming beauty of the sunsets. We have been coming to St George for over 30 years, Louise is the Best owner we have ever dealt with, very information and so so quick to reply to any questions or concerns. Another plus was staying in Plantation, the walking and bike trails are awesome and you have access to pools, gym and courts. We will return, thanks so much Louise for allowing us to enjoy Cypress Cove.
