This boutique hotel is very well located on a beautiful, clean and quiet beach, it’s decorated with a lot of taste with wooden furniture and the garden maintained with a lot of care. One of the highlights of this place is a great Chef - all the meals we have eaten here were one of the best in the whole Panglao island! We are also very grateful to one of the staff who picked for us and made us try the sea urchins! Swimming pool is a big plus. Perfect place for a relaxing stay!😍
Nothing - everything was perfect!

elligant; fusion between new and old; very artistically well built for everyone to admire and enjoy; feels like your home; protected and well looked after; staff are very sensitive to the costumers needs and respects our values. Hats off to the owners for sharing their legacy to everyone; never a dull moment : there is always space for learning and enjoying.
food needs more improvement. it is nice but it will be perfect if they could find a really great chef and up grade their menu from time to time. simple menu is the best as long as the quality of the food is there even just a simple fried egg or crispy bacon goes a long way. a simple local food like champorado would compliment the vintage touch scenery of the property.

Loved the staff (they went the extra mile and remembered personal details), location (secluded and next to beach), spacious room, and beautifully themed

beautiful, friendly staff, green-hospitality practices.

Clean, comfortable, nice traditional style, friendly and accommodating staff, we felt welcome all the time. Hearty breakfast and good food in the restaurant. Nice swimming pool. Simply a nice and relaxing stay :-)

lovely property with beautiful garden and direct beach access, friendly staff and nice own library with lots of DVDs and books
For rainy days, a bit more outside rain-protected seating options would be nice

I don't even know how to begin to praise this resort. We arrived at night and once the gate opened, everything was decorated with lights, and walking into the property felt like we were in a dream. They have a beautiful pool, vegetable garden, boutique shop, games area, art gallery, and more that we probably did not have time to explore in the 2 days we were there. But everything you set your eye on in this place is a work of art in itself. "Attention to detail" is an understatement. The staff was wonderful, the food was delicious, and everything felt luxurious. The cost is super reasonable for what you get. I wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much for this experience.
The beach in front is not the best but 10 minutes down the road it is better, there are bugs in the room and big lizards around (of course it is to be expected when you are in nature! just be prepared so you are not shocked), and I was a bit disappointed that the services suggested by the hotel were so marked up. E.g. scooter rental for 800 pesos, when the going rate is 500-600. Actually we got a good scooter on our own for 400 by the beach... They called a trike for 400 each way to go to the bridge, about 20 minutes. We paid 1500 for a 2.5-3 hr ride the day before on our own. Please don't take advantage just because guests can't make their own phone calls to get a proper deal, it is not worth it to leave a bitter taste when everything else is perfect.

We love the place overall! It is tranquil with sounds of birds. The staff is very helpful with a smile always. The restaurant offers good food. Its garden is very lovely. The rooms have a very nice view and finally the hotel has its own small beach. The wood decoration of the hotel is super nice as well. Highly recommended.
The mini refrigator in the room is a bit noisy. Except that all is
good.

Library, art gallery, calm, quiet, pool, beach, staff, food, drinks…
just want to spent there more time, we notice the art gallery and details of the hotel last day of stay

All staff was all very friendly from reception to house keeping. The food was so so good we even had all our three meals at the restaurant every day. The view from our room on the top floor was amazing. The pool size was satisfying and clean. Kayak is free for rent to go snorkling. They tidied up our rooms spotlessly everyday. There was a misunderstanding with the booking of our boat excursion, they solved it with a kind gesture of discounted price.
We love everything here but if we have to nitpick, the private beach area is smaller than expected, but clean! Keep this up Amarela! The garden are very well kept but they burn the old chopped branch/leafs sometimes, so this caused a bit of smog. The smell is not unpleasant though.

We stayed at the property for 7 days and 6 nights and everything about the place starting from airport transfer to final check-out was amazing.
🤗 Shout out to Sanders, Rocky and Jensen for making our stay as comfortable as possible.
👍🏻 Free Breakfast - They have couple of good options that are prepared on order basis. The best part was that vegetarian options were available.
👍🏻 Hospitality - For instance, we had mentioned to one of the staff that we will be leaving early in the morning the next day during a general conversation. Sometime later, we got a call from concierge to check if we wanted our breakfast to be packed in a to-go bag or if we wanted something specific to be prepared.
👍🏻 Drinks - Amazing drinks at reasonable prices.
👍🏻 Fireflies - Reach out to Rocky if you want to see some fireflies in the night around the property.
👍🏻 Green Bananas - I know this is very weird thing to like at a resort, BUT, ask Rocky or Sanders if they have some green bananas available. They are locally produced and have a different kind of texture and taste.
👍🏻 Island Hopping - Ask at reception for island hopping options.
👍🏻 Books - Good collection of non-fiction books that can be enjoyed on 1st floor with a view.
🙏🏼 Also, got to talk to the owners and we came to know that a lot of the things at the property have come from old Bohol houses. Also, there are a few painting by local artists at the resort.
👎🏻 If I had to nitpick, the only issue that I found was that the reception, restaurant and room service shuts down at 9 PM.

Very clean and calm property. Super professional and helpful staff. They were offering complimentary shuttle and were helping us to find boat tickets.
The food was not amazing

We stayed two nights as a family at Amarela and enjoyed it a lot. The hotel is beautiful, it has this feeling of an old house breezing by the sea. They created a very special atmosphere with soul, with distinctive and beautiful furniture from old times. The food was delicious, we recommend the crispy calamaris, the eggplant salad and coconut seafood. Everything was healthy and well seasoned. Staff is attentive and very helpful. Our daughter suffered but bug bites and they helped with aloe vera picked up from the garden. It's a little paradise and we feel very lucky to have experienced it.

food could have been a bit better

The staff, the food was wonderful, the view and the pool. I was able to have a massage in my room with my beautiful view. This was above my expectations. Quiet, relaxing and beautiful.
The pillows in the room were a little large leaving me with a neck cramp. The beach isn't really swimmable without shoes to avoid the sea urchins.

Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds with amazing swimming pool and private beach. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff were all extremely accommodating and attentive. the location was in a peaceful part of the island but it was easy to arrange activities and tours. we had a great stay.
For an environmentally conscious hotel, it was disappointing that they used plastic straws at the restaurant and provided small plastic bottles of water in the room each day- this should be changed. We had a good tour to the main sites in Bohol, but it was disappointing again that the driver tried to take us to a zoo rather than the tarsier sanctuary on the island. the hotel also advertises whale shark tours which are known to be unethical.

The place is absolutely gorgeous, from the design of the building to the smallest of details. The service is divine, the food at the restaurant is one of the best we had in the Philippines. Everything is fine but humble. A quiet and perfect getaway.
Don't miss it.
Absolutely nothing.

It is such a beautiful resort (which felt more like a big home that was opened and expanded), and you could see that it was definitely a labour of love. Almost all carvings were made by local carvers; for the doors, the windows--the owner sourced old wooden fixtures from local families. So much of this place came from the community.
We had to leave for a dive before breakfast was served, so they lovingly packed us a to-go bag with all the fixings! Imagine opening it up in the middle of the sea, and seeing a full meal waiting for you!
We had the breakfast the next day, and were pleasantly surprised to see the longganisa wasn't any of the cheap kinds you see in even upscale resorts.
The view was fabulous and tranquil, and I envy their garden of vegetables! Don't forget to walk up to the second floor of the main building-- you'll find a little staircase leading to a small viewing deck on top of it all.
Can't find anything, really!

We loved everything. It is actually much better looking in real life, than it is on the pictures. So I suggest they update the pictures to reflect the true colors and authenticity of this beatific resort.
Breakfast and food in general in the in house restaurant was impeccable. We haven’t try anything we didn’t immediately loved. The service is a bit slow, we were staying with the baby, and he was getting a bit impatient due to waiting for 20-30 minutes for food each time. But when it’s just the two of you I guess it’s fine.
The beach is very clean, and well taken care of, so is the hotel pool. But the was it self to that sit ale for swimming, I wouldn’t say it is impossible to swim in, but not super easy. I would recommend to enjoy the scenery at the beach, but stick to swimming in the pool.
The hotel has amazing gardens and plenty of space to explore.
Room has been clean daily, we really enjoyed the maids service.
All in all 5 star review!
Nothing. Perfect place for both couple and family vacay

The hotel feels like a giant Philippine mansion wich is really authentic. The staff is really nice, and they have a big collection of books and dvd's. Staff is helpful and the food was good. Because the hotel is far away from all the main attractions in Bohol they offer a tour that includes a visit to all must-see's in. It is one day and reasonably priced! We took it and were happy with it. Also, I've never slept in a better bed my entire life! Bonus points for the bed!
The wifi was practically non-existent and the bathroom was clean, but outdated.
