Said (the manager), as well as the ladies, are fantastic!
Sweet & very friendly and nothing ever felt like a bother to them.
Said is very attentive & welcoming and has a fantastic (genuine) work ethic.
He takes great care of his guests and makes sure to help & explain everything, including downloading 'Maps.me' (there's a traveller tip for you) and how to navigate the daunting Medina. I got lost a few times and the route back to the riad, compared to other addresses, can be a bit confusing, but this is not the riad's fault.
Said is a wonderful man who eased my nerves 🙏
I came from stressful circumstances in my home country and saved hard to pay for this trip, and I am so glad this was my initial introduction to Marrakech.
This was my first time visiting Morocco and I was a little nervous as a solo female traveller (despite having travelled alone to many other countries), but I felt instantly comfortable and "at home" in this riad.
I stayed in another riad after this one, and despite being the same rating & price, Dar Akal was far superior.
The vibe in this riad is hard to explain - I felt very happy here and extremely relaxed.
It is such a peaceful retreat away from the craziness of the town centre 🥰
Wifi can be a bit hit & miss at times, but wasn't an issue.
It was a shame that "a big bed" is actually 2 single beds pushed together, but it was comfortable enough for a solo person.
The rooftop pool is the highlight of this place I think... as well as the daybeds and random different little corners of the terrace 😍
The decor is stunning, the terracotta style is gorgeous and the courtyard & huge trees/plants are beautiful!
Breakfast is simple (to be expected in a small traditional riad), but delicious. The ladies ask what you'd like from their "menu of the day" and they cook it in the little kitchen on the rooftop - a really lovely experience and yummy food!
...The fact that I had to leave! 😭
I even got to my second riad (only 10mins walk away) and immediately wanted to come back here but they were fully booked!! 😭
No disrespect to my 2nd riad, but I wish I had booked my entire stay in Marrakech at Dar Akal! 😭

We loved this property. It was the perfect introduction to Morocco for our family. Travelling with two teenage daughters we were nervous about Morocco, however as soon as we were met at our Taxi by Said our villa manager we felt at ease. Said was genuinely kind and helpful and made us feel completely safe. For the entirety of our stay he was available whenever we needed anything . The villa is stunning architecturally, very clean and the pool was a nice respite from the June heat. Breakfast was nice and the e meal on arrival also nice. We couldn’t fault the villa at all. We had the two bedroom suite which was huge with two bedrooms, living area and bathroom. Perfect for a family with enough space and privacy for all of us. The entire Riad only has a handful of rooms so you feel like you have the whole Riad to yourself. We only saw other guests a couple of times.
Said was the best host we could have asked for and we appreciated the feeling of safety he provided as first timers to Morocco. We had a weirdo hotel manager at a hotel in Paris and felt so much safer in Morocco than Paris! As a female I felt completely safe walking around the Medina and area the Riad was in and also in Marrakech in general.
I really can’t say there was anything we didn’t like, however it would have been good to have a tv in the living room or bedrooms as we came back to the Riad early each night.
The only other improvement that would be good would be if the Riad could offer snacks such as chips/breads/dips/cheeseboards (just stuff from the mini mart would do) and maybe a cocktail bar or something to liven up the rooftop. We would have spent money there having drinks of an evening or afternoon had they had this. There were soft drinks, beers and wines but that was all they had and at times we felt like a snack and couldn’t. They could also do with a cappuccino machine:))
Again these are only recommendations on what would have improved it but not having these things didn’t dampen our experience one bit.

The hospitality was 10/10, we were very well taken care of by the entire staff the whole trip. The riad is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast is very good. The location is close to so many landmarks, food and things to do and buy so it was very convenient. Overall staying here truly enhanced our trip experience and the host really makes sure that you know how to get around and assist all your trip needs including walking me and my friend to our hot air balloon pickup location at 5am to make sure we were safe!

Very cozy, quiet riad about 10 minutes walk from Jemaa el Fna. The rooftop is especially lovely and the staff are very kind. We enjoyed our stay in Marrakech a lot! We also recommend organizing a hammam and message while you are there - we did and it was a highlight of our trip!
Nothing, everything was great

One of the best places we have ever stayed! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Would highly recommend! 10/10

beautiful rooms and local decorations. excellent service. riad layout is very nice.

We’ve absolutely loved everything about our stay at Dar Akal! It is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, super clean, breakfasts were delicious and Saîd is the BEST property manager.
4.8
Dar Akal was a great place to stay in Marrakech, the room was large and comfortable. We had a dinner there on the first night which was fantastic. You must book into the Hammam in the property which is a great expletive after a long hot day walking the souks. The staff couldn’t be more helpful.
It’s a little hard to find but the staff came to meet us from the taxi and helped with the bags, make sure to download the maps.me map to help you find your way back!

The facilities and the staff was great. Overall, great service and nice Riad! Spacious bathroom and great lunch service. We enjoyed breakfast in the rooftop and we were delighted to see staff’s smiley faces.
The streets to get there were a bit shady although we got very clear instructions on how we can get to the main areas. At night it felt a bit uneasy to walk towards the hotel. We booked a room for two ( not the standard ) and we got so much noise during night and until 11:30 pm. There were people eating just next to our room and we could hear and smell everything’s from our bed. We were unable to sleep until they were gone even with earplugs. For the price tag we paid we expected a bit more privacy and at least that people would be routed to the rooftop for dinner and not exactly next to our room.
4.8
Exceptional hospitality from the manager Said, who showed us around and provided early breakfast. Gracious, quiet, private, delicious dinner - could not be better.
Location a bit obscure, but that’s also part of the quiet and charm.
4.8
Fantastic staff; especially Said, the Manager who went out of his way to look after us, rescued us when we were lost in the souk, advised us on shopping and bartering and generally made our stay seamless and enjoyable! The breakfasts on the rooftop were superb also.
4.8
Beautiful authentic building in the middle of the city (astonishing how quiet it was, only the birds singing).Walking distance to most attractions. Plenty of restaurants in the area. The service was excellent which made our holiday.
We liked everything
4.8
a very cosy Riad with a spacious room, places to sit and eat on each floor facing into the courtyard and a great roof terrace for breakfast and a swim if it had been warmer.
the only downside is the need to walk a short distance through the back streets to get taxis at night.
4.8
We liked everything about our stay at Dar Akal. Said and the staff are happy, always up beat and thought of everything to
make our vacation stay the best it could be.
Said met us at our taxi when we arrived, secured a chariot for our luggage guided us happily through the maze of streets to
the Riad. Tea was served as he skillfully gave us tips and shortcuts to make our stay a memorable and happy one.
Our meal in the Riad was so beautiful would recommend to anyone coming to stay to have at least one meal in the Riad.
Breakfasts different every day were one of the best parts of Dar Akal, the best we had in Morocco.
said recommended several restaurants nearby and they were all good.
Fresh flowers and candles at night birds delightfully finding their way in, and Said and his wonderful staff made for the best vacation ever.

The rooms were beautiful and clean. The terrace was a lovely area to relax!

Beautiful peaceful facilities in the Medina but the best part was our host. He came to receive us and drop us off. We ordered dinner for two which was exquisite. He helped one person who was not feeling well find lunch the following day and even lent him dhirams. He gave us good instructions on how to spend our time in Marrakesh with Maps.me.
4.8
The Riad is beautiful and elegant. It is hidden away in a narrow alley but yet easy to reach to all the main attractions. Said, the host, is excellent. He helped us setup an app that we could use to navigate in the medina. He really understands what we like and don't like to see and gave us great suggestions on our one day stay at Marrakesh. If we come back again, we will definitely stay there again. He even walked us all the way to our car and personally tip the man who brought our luggage to the car. What a nice man.
Really nothing that I can think of.
4.8
the staff were very welcoming and the venue absolutely lovey with really good breakfast and dinner. mint tea and biscuits on arrival was a lovey touch.
taxis can’t drive to the door of the property and so best to let the venue arrange an airport pickup and you will be escorted to the door.
4.8
it was quite, spacious room..and Siad the manager was very helpful and always happy to assist any questions and requests

When you first arrive for drop-off at Place Moukef if can seem a little daunting making your way through the winding streets to the Riad, however with the App that Said recommended, you will very quickly find your way around. The people we met to and from the Riad were friendly and helpful.
The hotel provides an excellent breakfast. This was alternated over several days to give variety. Everything was delicious, a mixture of baked goods, fruit, jams, tea/coffee plus hot chocolate and Nutella was provided for the little one. We also had dinner on the roof terrace which was delicious and the setting really beautiful.
We stayed in the suite which was huge and nicely appointed. We tried the Hammam and massage during our stay, both of which I would recommend.
We would like to return to Dar Akal as everything (except the cold pool) was incredible.
The pool was very cold, even when the outside temperature was 35°. If the hotel bought an electric emersion rod to heat the pool just a few degrees, this hotel would be absolutely perfect.

Good location, clean and beautiful riad, very friendly staff
4.8
We liked the big room, it was peaceful and comfortable. We also liked Said who was friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.
The riad lacked atmosphere, it felt too quiet and flat, a little bit of music would have made a huge difference, and it was hard to find anyone if we wanted a drink or a snack, we finally found someone on one of the days to get some tea but there was nothing else available. I have stayed in many riads before, and this one was pleasant enough, but nothing amazing.
4.8
The staff were lovely. The place is beautiful. It’s a little oasis and totally needed as a spot to break away from the busy streets down below. The man who looks after the riad was so patient and helpful and walked us to our airport taxi the morning we left to make sure we got off ok. Was truly a lovely experience.
4.8
Wonderful room with a comfortable bed.
Magnificent breakfast
Saeed (our host) was outstanding- very attentive, nothing too difficult - numerous suggestions for tourist sights, cafes and restaurants. Saeed also booked taxis and a day trip to the coast for us.
Nothing really
We stayed a week - in hindsight Marrakech would have been better as a long weekend

Nice design, great beds, friendly staff, nice food

staff were super friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome
the location wasn’t ideal for tourists

Wonderful roof terrace, quiet rooms and altogether peaceful atmosphere - a perfect place to relax in Marrakesh. Also very clean and very friendly. Maybe the most beautiful place we have ever stayed in.

lovely staff and amazing room
location was ok, not great but ok

Dar Akal was perfect for our family with a spacious suite for us parents and two teens, opening away from the central area and quiet. Comfortable and very clean, we felt safe and secure and even walking to our taxi at 4am the tiny streets were lamp lit. The manager and staff could not have been more helpful, without being overbearing. The simple hamman and massage were excellent and really good value. I choose accommodation with great care and this really exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was a highlight!
Nothing!

The hotel is an oasis of calm with fantastic helpful staff. We had arranged to be picked up from the airport and taken to Dar Akal. Our taxi was met and we were walked through the labyrinth of the Medina to the door of Dar Akal. The first evening we ate a delicious meal on the roof terrace overlooking the city. In the morning, our breakfast was also served on the roof terrace, with a big assortment of foods to try and fresh orange juice.
I honestly can't think of anything. It was perfect.

Said was an incredible host and it was great spending time with him learning about the sites in Marrakech. He accommodated our every request, and provided endless tips for our journey into the desert.
The location is good and it’s very quiet, but walking to the riad from the transfer/taxi drop off involves a very hectic street that I really didn’t like.
