We absolutely loved everything, the house, location staff, food our room. The whole of our weekend stay was exceptional.
Nothing not to like.
4.7
beautiful hotel in picturesque surroundings … very comfortable rooms… food was terrific and excellent staff
last mile to the hotel is ‘ interesting’ and takes concentration… but more than worth the journey when you arrive
4.7
Superb location, beautiful room, exceptional service and food. We had a wonderful stay for a Birthday celebration. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious. Gidleigh has a beautiful setting and, weather permitting, always explore the extensive gardens and woodland.
There is nothing not to like!

Hotel was really lovely . Food was of a high standard and staff treated us well.
A kettle and tea and coffee facilities in our room would be good as many people like to make a drink late at night You don’t want room service then.
Some information in the room about the hotel and facilities. A pool and spa facilities would take this hotel to another level

Very nice taste

staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble
our room was £500 per night, was over the front door of the property and we were woken both mornings at 7am. it faced some bushes but had no view at all.
the food was good but we stayed 2 nights and they did not change all the menu despite having 1 Michele one star

We loved absolutely everything. It was a last minute booking made on the morning of our stay and it couldn't have been better. Staff, hotel, room, service, food, drinks, gardens - there is nothing to fault. It was glorious. Thank you, we can't wait to come again.
We do quite like to have some tea/coffee facilities in the room, and biscuits with our morning tea would have been very welcome!
4.7
It's a fabulous property in a stunning location, and the food is of course exquisite but it's the staff that really make the difference, lifting this into the realms of the exceptional.

Staff were fantastic - attentive but without being fussy or intrusive.
Nothing. We had a lovely time.

Secluded, luxurious, warm and welcoming. Yummy food, open fires, great walks. a peaceful haven away from the noise of the world.
Nothing.

Friendly welcome. Food quality amazing.
Wine list pricey.

The breakfast was excellent, no complaints at all. Service and food excellent.
I was very surprised they did not have a swimming pool, I knew when I booked they did not have one and accepted that and still booked. However, because of the location and the beautiful surrounds and bearing in mind how out of the way this hotel is, I think a small pool and perhaps massage services would definately enhance this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Could not be better: location, staff, service, exterior, interior, atmosphere, friendliness.... superb.

Excellent staff, make you feel very welcome and special. Great service overall- the staff are a credit to this place. Beautiful countryside walks and hotel grounds.
Dinner was excellent, worth the money. Could do with a bit more ambience/light music in the dining room.
Breakfast was also delicious.
Loved the L'occitane toilettries.
Part of our journey included about 10-15 mins of narrow single lane country roads which was tricky (especially when Maps takes you to completely the wrong side at first) top tip is to cut through the town of Chagford to reduce the amount of single track roads!
You pay £400+ for a room and can hear doors banging in the corridor, cleaners going past loudly.
I understand it's an old building but I really don't think it's worth this amount of money per night (and we've stayed in plenty of 5* hotels).
Not enough plug sockets in the room.
4.7
Beautiful Spa Suite which was the best bit about the experience.
Our arrival and welcome from reception was really poor.
4.7
All food was exceptional. Gourmet dinner was expected, but even breakfast, tea, sandwiches etc. - all are great gastronomy
4.7
Lovely building in beautiful grounds. The accommodation was very nice, spacious and well furnished. Friendly staff.
Its location at the end of a 2 mile winding single
track lane which they don’t tell you about in the literature. If you meet a vehicle coming the other way, someone has to reverse. It’s very expensive, food is good but very pricey and the wine list is extensive with the cheapest wines £50 plus. The staff are friendly but the service is slow. All in all, rather pretentious.
4.7
Exceptional service, location and grounds.
