The surrounding gardens, lifts to restaurants and airport. My partner and Mum were staying at another place (Broken Banyan) and thought this was better. The bathroom and shower are modern and clean.
After a tough day of walks all I wanted to do was watch a movie and relax however the internet goes off around 9:30pm - the prime time you want it. The room smelt and I saw a cockroach. Decor a little outdated.

The accommodation is just a short walk to Ned's Beach and the main town. The room was spacious and clean. The kitchen had a small fridge and was supplied with enough appliances etc to make a simple meal. There was even salt and pepper. The beds were very comfortable. The host, Paul, was very helpful. He gave us a little tour when we arrived, made dinner reservations for us when required, and offered to drive us to the restaurants. They offer free wifi, which was not very strong in our room and sometimes not working, however, it usually worked well in the common lounge area.
The shower leaked a lot of water into the middle of the bathroom floor every time we used it, which completely saturated the bathroom floor mats. Housekeeping did not change our mats when they made the beds, so our mats were always soaking wet. Our room did not have a railing in front of it, and there was no clothesline, so we did not have anywhere except the outdoor chairs and table to hang our wet towels/swimwear etc. If you're a light sleeper you may be woken in the night to the birds crying outside the room.

The location was good. We could cycle everywhere .
it was basic but good for the price.

the location and support of Paul the manager was great.
Some facilities were not working. There was no or little wifi which was most inconvenient. There was also no house phone to enable bookings and for $1000 per night much more was expected.

the stove didn’t work fully but will be attended to no problems with all else

Beautiful island atmosphere. Laid back accommodation that was easily accessible. Great service in driving you places
We did not mind but Beachcomber is half way up the island & an uphill walk. You can ring to be picked up so not a problem if you do not want to walk

Not a lot sadly.
This was my second stay at Beachcomber. First time was in 2016 and the experience was better. This time was a different story.
The room was not serviced once - they use the “Covid” excuse but this is really unacceptable now. We had to ask for clean towels, toilet paper, tea towels… nothing was replenished. Probably they need to remove reference to daily biscuits from their site too.
They did not offer clean sheets once during our stay and we were there for eight nights.
our flight home was cancelled meaning we had an extra night stay. Qantas covered the cost of the extra night and Beachcomber did not even re-make our room. It was in the exact state we left it… unmade beds, dirty towels, kitchen not cleaned. This is really unacceptable in my view. Easy money for no work on their part.
I realise the demand is so great that accommodation suppliers on LHI feel they have to do very little for clientele - but it’s not good enough when you’re paying $3,000 for a weeks accommodation.
The room was VERY cold and smelt of sewerage most of the week.
Very little assistance was offered in securing dinner reservations which is something that can be a bit confusing on the island.
Whenever we needed anything it was always difficult to locate any staff and given there’s no reception on the island, this is even more of a problem.
Definitely won’t be revisiting beachcomber, sadly.

Help getting to restaurants
Limited information/brochure regarding activities, restaurants, expected from accommodation which made it hard to find things. Told to get from island information centre.

Set in tropical gardens on a quiet property Beachcomber was a great choice to stay on LHI. Short lovely walk down a tropical path to amazing Neds beach. Paul our host was great and would ferry us around to various restaurants on request. We had great weather for the entire week despite east coast Australia having rain and flooding. I would recommend for a relaxing no hassle affordable LHI holiday.

Excellent location
Homely feel
Beds are super comfy
Shower water pressure thankfully was good
Excellent quality of kitchen appliances provided
Comfortable size and layout
A little difficult initially as had to scout information ourselves and given that services are open for short pockets of time (due to offpeak season and covid), sometimes had to be lucky to be at the right place at the right time.
Also had cold periods, may have needed a bigger heater or electric blankets?

The service is fantastic - staff are super willing to help with any enquires. Everything about the service was incredible so it’s hard to single one thing out. What does stand out is that I had issues with flights being delayed and the staff sorted out everything from rebooking my flights (the whole island has limited internet) to a new room for the extra night I had to stay without any hesitation at all. Combined with a brilliant room and a gorgeous location, the stay couldn’t have been better!

No cleaning of rooms or new towels
Gardens outside chalet were unkept
