The staff was absolutely amazing, the hotel was clean.
The food! We went all inclusive by the 2nd day we had to go out for lunch and dinner. There was no variety at all.
Nothing for children.

Staff really nice, try to do the best for you, however, the whole place needs pulling up.cleaning in general, floors need cleaning after every meal time with clean mops and detergent, not just old looking towels , tables need cleaning after each use in restaurants and seating areas, glasses need hot dish wash clean, not just a prince in their tap water.cutlery even when not used needs removing when table cleared and washed etc,not just reused when setting up new table, all these things witnessed.i suffered bad stomach few times whilst there.pool area when closed at 6pm needs a full clean, sand removing from daily use, yes was filtered every evening but witnesses the guy cleaning filters throwing the dirt in plants not in the bin, only used pool water to clean surrounding dirty area, almost made me sick.
Reps were nice, No problems.
Room cleaners great, polite ,everyday did room if you wanted and gave 2 bottles water n toilet roll daily.
Front desk- polite but need to communicate better with their staff..I paid late book out at 6pm, I had 2 people knock the door telling me to leave at 12pm..so I checked out the room but continued to use their facilities until I left.
Spa staff are great, especially Maria, she's so talented with facials, hair., feet. defiantly go see her and give good tip.The other Spa staff became a pain and don't take No or Not Interested for an answer, I had to be very blunt numerous times .
Entertainment if u call it that was crap, quick dance in morning, one song, stretching for a bit, in pool however, pool is too deep so any exercise for small people is a no go.The pool needs a shallow end aswell for children and small people of 5ft.

- Staff - I need to give big kudos to the entire hotel staff, especially MOUSTAFFA!!!! The kindest and best room-cleaning service I had in my life. Moustafa cleaned our room 2 times a day, brought us cookies in our room every day, and different towel decorations as well. Big kudos to everyone else as well, always smiling and welcoming. Well deserved tips we gave them. And to our biggest surprise, EVERYONE SPOKE FLUENT ENGLISH, which is a major plus.
- Food - food was excellent. Many of our friends had issues with food/drinks in Egypt, but the food was diverse and very similar to our home cuisine. The only complaint about our food is that it LACKS FRUIT, only melon, oranges, dates, and once or twice watermelon.
- Souvenir shop - the hotel has a shop inside with lots of souvenirs. Be sure to haggle, since the prices are never of fixed amount.
- Reception - easily swapped USD to Egyptian pounds and vice versa, very polite, gave us a welcome meal and drinks since we arrived at 3am
- Internet - NO INTERNET. We spent around EUR 200 for the eSIMs, since Egypt has one of the most expensive e-sims in the world. The hotel WIFI is paid 20EUR/7-day stay, which makes no sense whatsoever
- Beach - The water on the hotel beach is very shallow, full of corals, and unswimmable. There is an alternative beach of the hotel next door which can be used instead
- Drinks were served in the most miniature cups in the world; SUGGESTION: purchase large plastic cups in the store inside the hotel and let the staff pour drinks in those cups instead, we found out about this unfortunately on the last day of our stay

Great 2 star, ok 3 star. Think Travel Lodge.
We asked for a quiet room with sea view. We got the sea view but music pumps out on speakers from 9am & 10am at pool. An early wake up call that persists all day! The corridors, with their tiled floors, amplify every sound throughout the floor. Staff start on the floors from 7am! Bring ear plugs.
Pool area outside is nicely designed. Sun beds as standard. Towels provided.
Restaurant:
Despite what the website says, only 1 main restaurant (called Aquarius) in this hotel. All 3 buffet meals delivered here. Decor very run down. Food is repetitive and basic, although the breakfast had good options. The a la carte restaurant is a room across from this with similar decor and I never saw 1 person in it as this is not part of the all-inclusive.
Snack Bar:
Daily snack bar is the grim looking Aquarius bar where a few sandwiches are piled on a plate & covered with cling-film for guests to eat as they wish. I thought it was a joke when I asked where the snack restaurant/ bar was & was shown a plate of bread rolls sitting outside the bar. Horrified.
All Inclusive:
Be careful when booking, as often this means meals only included and soft drinks. Soft drinks were never branded drinks like Coca-cola, Sprite, Fanta but always from a 2 Litre bottle of cheap local knock-offs. If you wanted bottled water, you had to pay for it or take a plastic glass of water they will hand to you as part of all-inclusive.
Location:
Beside local large shopping centre (10 in walk) & some good bars around.
Wifi:
Available in room at additional charge. Free at reception but very poor connection. If going for 1+ week I recommend getting the Vodafone traveller sim card for 255 LE (10 GB data, 200 min local calls & 20 min international calls) and you will have great data in your room. Apparently you can buy this in airport but I got it in a Vodafone store.
Only 1 restaurant with limited food choices. Bar was grim. No evening entertainment for guests.
Decor very run down.

The room is clean. The beach is wonderful and beautiful. The service in the lobby is a beautiful bar
I waited more than an hour in the reception to receive the room
I even missed the lunch time and when I asked they told me to wait for the dinner time as there is no substitute for the meal you miss
Reception staff need training to deal with guest

We liked and enjoyed our stay very much.
The "all-inclusive" concept is comfortable and it definitely helps you relax. It was very convenient that all our meals and most drinks were included. We enjoyed a lot their private beach and the pool area.
The day we checked out, the hotel kept our bags and suitcases for us all day since we had a tour and were going to be out and our flight was late at night. Once we came back, they opened a room for us for 30 minutes so we could take a shower and change before our flight. It was super nice and helpful, and we really appreciate the gesture!

only good thing about the property was the location would have been even nicer if there wasn’t so much litter everywhere clearly have no care for the environment
it’s run down and wouldn’t be allowed to open in England due to health and safety reasons! the pool isn’t safe you only had to step on the side and your foot would go through! the rooms were filthy and clearly never cleaned to any kind of standards no one is helpful they just talk to people when your trying to talk to them

the staff charged me more money than booking
they called me at 12 am before check out and he was screaming that he wanted me to pay the extra charges

The view from the room was very nice and the sraff was very nice and accommodating the meals were ok. The place is in need of a major overhaul.if
The bed was not very comfortable and the doors are impossible to open and close there is no water pressure and you are lucky to get a warm shower the air Conditioner is so loud you want to shut it off and open the door but the music out side is so loud you must decide which is worst our just sweat. Yet we still had a nice time.

Unlike most of the tourist hotels in Egypt, Royal Star is located very close to the centre of Hurghada - this allows you to have a walk around and see a normal life and local people. There is a range of attractions around so you can have a good time there. There is actually all what you need but cannot be compared with the quality of gigantic luxury 'holidays prisons', typical in Egypt along the coast.
The best time of this hotel is well behind and it requires a major refurbishment and some investment injection. The bathrooms are worn out, so the towels and linen. Seems that with a lot of efforts of the staff things look still OK-ish. Although 4 stars is an overstatement.

The food was very good at the hotel, and the service was even better.
