Comfortable, nicely decorated little house, comfi beds, beautiful location, nice host.
Thee can be lots of midges, they woke us up at night by stinging us. Keep the windows closed as much as possible. Insect screens for the windows would be nice.

We were happy to stay for a few day's in such a wonderfull lodge. Well equipped, tastfull designed and having 'a million view' on the landscape.

Superb location, very beautiful and peaceful. It feels like you are thoroughly in the wilderness, yet Borgarnes is a short drive. It's also a good base for driving to Snaefellsnes as well as the tourist hot spots of the Golden Circle. There's also a wonderfully isolated, fairly unknown hot spring close by.
The cottage is comfortable and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The self check-in functioned smoothly. Owners sent very detailed directions and location coordinates which helped us find the cottage easily. Views around the cottage are amazing! Mountains and what feels like the entire sky surround the place. One can easily expect to see the aurora borealis here.
Fully equipped kitchen, with all necessary things to cook.
While the cottage in itself is cosy, it is rather on a small size. Advertised as a place for 4, still probably only perfect in size for 2. The kitchen and bathroom are small, too. Very efficient, but small. No proper storage place. Staying longer than 1-2 nights might get a bit claustrophobic with luggage laying around.
Bugs and flying ants are all over the place, loving the warmth of the house. This makes the cottage looking tad dirty (which is no hosts fault). There is also some dust in corners. In comparison to some other properties a bit dated and in a need of an upkeep.

Remote location, very beautiful and peaceful. The cabin is comfortable and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The self check-in functioned smoothly.
There are a gazillion flies and even more biting midges. At the end of my stay I was fully covered in bug bites, something that didn’t happen anywhere else on my trip in Iceland. If you stay here, come equipped with insect repellent!

It has breath taking mountains views. Very modern interior. Very functional for family.

Superb location - it feels like you are thoroughly in the wilderness, yet Borgarnes is a short drive. It's also a good base for driving to Snaefellsnes as well as the tourist hot spots of the Golden Circle.
Given the dark skies, we were able to see the aurora - a truly breathtaking experience. There's also a wonderfully isolated, fairly unknown hot spring close by. Just the right size for 2 people and actually hot, as opposed to warm.
The cabin in itself is cosy - despite some very challenging weather at times, we never felt cold. It's also well planned for space and is very comfortable for 3 people. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom and all the information was provided promptly.
This is our first visit to Iceland and having the cabin as our base after long days travelling was just what we needed. We only hope the other cabins we have booked across the country will be as comfortable :)
I've asked the family and we have no complaints.

Everything about this property was great! Relaxing and clean. The host was prompt to respond and made directions and entry very easy despite it being a bit off the beaten path.
I have no complaints! Everything was exactly as pictured and perfect for us.

We have travelled extensively throughout the world and this must rate as one of my top stays . The location is remote and breathtaking , and the hosts have thought of everything for the house It has simple but stunning decor .
A really special place in so many ways !

Owner sent very detailed directions and location coordinates, too, so this cabin was easy to find.
The cabin is perfect in size for our family of 3 adults. 2 twin beds were in the main bedroom, and I used the sofa bed which was already laid out and made when we arrived. The kitchen and bathroom are small, but not too tight. Very efficient!
Fantastic views all around. Mountains and what feels like the entire sky surround the place. We had the most amazing experience viewing the aurora borealis here at midnight. It was extra special as we were celebrating a birthday, and the fact that the sky was practically unobstructed by anything gave us a better view.

Very nice view from the accommodation. It is a bit outside from Borgarnes (beautiful city at the sea), but with a great landscape around.

Wonderful place with great view around. Fully equipped kitchen, with all necessary things to cook. Owners were kind and responsive. It was possible to get know the farm and take ride with horses. Great place!

A very clean, cosy cottage in beautiful landscape and peaceful, quiet setting. Kitchen well equipped, cosy beds and great bathroom. Everything one needs is there. It’s close to the popular sights of Reykholt, Hraunfossar and Húsafell. Wonderful owners.

A fabulous place to stay. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable self catering property. The 360 degree views are beautiful. Comfortable beds and lovely linen. The location is very easy to find and is convenient to visit many attractions including Snaefellsnes peninsular and it’s not far from Reykjavik.
The lava tunnel at Viogelmir is a must!
nothing at all!!

Views, kitchen utensils and equipment, very clean and well decorated, hosts exceptional
Twin beds and no tv. If twin beds are necessary for business, consider ones that can be attached together

Most Amazing Place Ever. Absolutly Beautiful House. Has everything you Need. My Highlight was the Horse back Ride with the owner. I will come back in Summer 🤩
Thank you for the Beautiful Stay!

The cottage was incredibly cozy, exceptionally well appointed, clean, and in a beautiful secluded location that was still easily accessible from Bogarnes! Could not recommend this stay more highly. It was the perfect base from which to explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

The location is stunning. You are in the middle of the nature.

Very peaceful and clean little house, well equipped kitchen, very tasteful interieur and a big veranda to enjoy the sun and the beautiful surrounding.
The owners were very nice, we booked a horse-ride with them, which was a lot of joy.
We can definitely recommend that place to everyone looking for peace and nature and would definitely book again.
Everything fine

Gíslaholt cottages are the coziest we have ever stayed at in Iceland. They are extremely well-equipped for cooking, with avocado oil, spices and soy sauce, all the necessary utensils, teapot, French press and beautiful dishes. The owners definitely have an eye for little details that make your stay extra pleasant: a wool throw, lovely art and LED-candles. The location is so peaceful and quiet, with horses and sheep roaming around, not far from Glymur Foss, which proved to be a memorable hike! Plus the views from the cottage are incredibles! We had the pleasure to chat briefly with the owners and they are lovely people. Hopefully we will be back!
