Very helpful staff. Great location and balcony with a fantastic view. Outdoor kitchenette means you can cook something yourself if you don't want to go out. Water cooler with clean drinking water.

There is a small gap between the walls and the roof, meaning that various creatures can also inhabit the room

It was an amazing place to stay with stunning views and plenty of space. Like Bali in the 70's

Amazing location and virtually no other tourists. Close to reef breaks suited for beginners to advance level of surfing ability. There were cooking facilities if you wanted to use them but we chose the home delivery options from local restaurants. Plenty of space for a family or 2 couples. The view was fabulous from up on the hill. There are air conditioners in the 2 bedrooms and ceiling fans in the main living areas. There are quite a few steps up to the house that we managed no problem but if you had mobility issues it would be difficult.

Some days were smokey due to people burning off their rubbish. We closed the windows to the bedrooms to keep them smoke free as much as possible and put the air conditioners on to keep the rooms cool. There was some building going on nearby so we had angle grinding at times during the days.

Good value authentic village experience

The property was close to the surf for an early start. Great value for money! Bruce the owner is an old school surf legend who is living all our dreams!! The manager went above and beyond to make sure everything was fine!

Very good

Place is perfect if you want it quiet and be with your travel partner / family alone. Great location, nice view over the bay and spacious. (You don ´t hear the mosque at 5am, but some fisher boat motors just before dawn… apart from that super quiet)

If you are looking for place to meet other travelers / people in the accommodation, that is not the place for you as no one else stays there. We actually wanted it a bit more lify … so got first a bit disappointed, but then had an amazing surf teacher/coach (the brother of the person managing the place) and met some people in the restaurants around.

Loved it!

Loved my stay! It can be hard to find a good place to work from when travelling, that has some home comforts, but Bruce’s delivered. The perfect balance of work and surf! Super easy to get around by scooter.

A fan in the kitchen/lounge area would have been perfect, as it does get quite hot

Amazing stay :)

Amazing stay in the villa, we even extended for 2 more nights. It's really peaceful with an amazing view. Only 15min from Kuta by scooter, the road is really easy and there are a lot restaurants choices there.

Perfect Hideout!

Amazing spot to stay for a couple of days, or longer. The view you have on the ocean is just wow. The host Jo is very nice and always ready to help you with anything. The apartment is big and there is space enough to do yoga or a workout or so :). Location is very good as well, small walk to some shops and restaurants and right in front of the ocean where you can hop on the boat to go to the surfspots.

We thought there would be a terrace with the apartment we rented but this was not the case. Rest was all good!

One of our best stays in Indonesia!

Great, big accommodation with big terrace and very nice kitchen. You get unlimited amounts of bottled water for cooking and drinking. The terrace is right by the ocean, with an amazing view, and is very private and quiet. Bruce and his staff are very welcoming.

Could have been more beer in the fridge ;P

If I had to mention something.... maybe no hot shower. But if you are fit/ healthy and happy it should be no problem. If you are not so fit (I my case) then hot shower can be great

A dream week in heaven

idyllic location right on the beach and the closest you can be to Gerupuk breaks. Falling asleep with the sound of the ocean and only hearing animals mostly. amazing sunrises and sunsets.

there’s not much I didn’t like. I would just advice to take the beach rooms/location has the view is much better and more lighting vs the upstairs villas..

We had such a great time at Bruce's Hideout! Everyone was just so welcoming and helpful whenever we needed something. Everything was so well organized! The view from the villa was absolutely stunning and the location was just perfect for us. We would definitely like to come back one day! Thank you for everything!

Bruce and Jo we’re excellent hosts helping us with anything we needed.

The views and location are amazing! Right on the beach, easy to get a boat to take you out to the surf spots.

Only complaint would be no hot water.

Exceptional

location is amazing, your surrounded by bush but also have a gorgeous view of Gerupuk Bay and it’s really quiet and peaceful. Bruce the owner is really friendly and came up for a couple of chats with us. Jo, who looks after you while your there is super helpful and an incredibly nice guy. we found the bed was super comfortable and slept better than we have in years! having kitchen facilities is also a major bonus for making brekkie and snacks at home.

can’t fault it for the price!

The location, the place, the vibe, the kitchen and access to the beach, the hammock. It's a special place.

Hot water in the shower would have been great after our evening surf sessions but it was a minor inconvenience and we got used to room temperature water, felt good to conserve :)

Very nice patio and you can see the sunrise directly from your bed while waking up w local fishermans coming back from their daily fishing session. Good for surfers but if you’re not into surf you have to rent a scooter and go visit all the beaches around the area, so the scooter is really necessary.

No hot water so only cold shower, having a bit of hot water would have been nice. Maybe they could renew a bit the space, like the fabrics of curtains and change the shower curtain that was a bit dirty

Beautiful spot but the nightly giant ant troopers and the water cutting out was a bit of a bummer!

Stunning view of the bay straight from the room itself. Great spot to relax after a day of surfing.

Every night, swarms of these huge giant ants descended from the AC area (must be a hole there for them to enter) and were all over the room. Could not sleep the first night as some were crawling on the bed. Had zero food inside so don’t know what attracted them but seemed like nocturnal explorers just going everywhere in the room. Then the final evening, the water cut out and didn’t get any water in the kitchen/bathroom until well into the next day.

Im pretty sure bruces is the best place to stay in gerupuk. Its right on the water, just outside of the village. The house we stayed in was well beyond what I expected. If you're in the area looking for waves, it a really great spot. I was hoping to stay there again but its booked up. Did i mention that Bruce is a legend. Not in the australian sense cos he's not an ausie, which is a good thing cos ausies are dirty. Bruce is very clean.
