Familia encantadora!

La familia que lleva el alojamiento es encantadora, nos guardó el equipaje durante todo el día y nos ayudó con los horarios de los transportes. Creo que fueron los mejores anfitriones de nuestro viaje por Sri Lanka.

Nos encontramos con varios insectos en la habitación.

Locatie is prima bij station en direct in het dorp (komen maar 5 trainen per dag langs) en eigenaar is erg aardig, en kookt echt super! Op haar advies een massage laten doen, 5 min lopen vanaf de homestay. Prachtige tuin waardoor je lekker in het groen zit. 2 banken en tafels buiten. Heerlijk

De badkamer zou beter schoongemaakt kunnen worden. Kleine moeite maar zou heel fijn zijn.

Tolles Frühstück, sehr gute zentrale Lage, jedoch im grünen, die Besitzerin ist sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit :)

Lovely home

The family is super sweet. They rent out scooters for a fair price, with helmets. I loved playing with their cats. IF you're planning to take the train the morning after, it's very close to the station. The room is clean and comfortable. I very much appreciated that there was a squeegee in the bathroom so we can keep the bathroom clean in between housekeeping. The property is located on a small but steep hill. It takes about 30 seconds of climbing, so I don't think it's an issue for most healthy people but it's a good information to have.

Muy buena experiencia. La casa esta muy bien ubicada, tiene muchas habitaciones con baño individual y el desayuno el mejor que hemos comido en el viaje. La familia es muy agradable, siempre dispuesto a ayudar en todo.

Very good

If you are into luxury stays and instagram quality rooms this place is not for you. This place is.very affordable, cosy, family run house that is directly in the city of Ella. Rooms are adequate with.ensuite in all three rooms. Large fridge is available. Sudha, the owner, is lovely and spent time to chat with us. She is.very friendly and helpful and also prepares the awesome breakfasts we had. It is a two minute walk to the centre and four minutes to the train station. Highly recommend.

Very good

Very nice owner, they have a lot of cats which makes their place perfect for cats lover. The location was great, very close to train station and the main street, though the house is located on a very steep, but not high, hill.

the host is really lovely and is helping you when you need something. The food is amazing. you are near the city Center but surrounded by flowers and sweet animals als you should try the banana pancakes. they are nice :)

Feels like being home

My stay at tunnelgap was exceptional. The lady who runs the place was so helpful and did everything to make my stay comfortable. As a solo female traveller this was perfect place to stay. She arranged me a scooter to explore Ella. She gave me tips and advice what to do and where to go. She prepared me amazing breakfast and used fruits from her own garden. Her children were adorable, and she has cats and dog which were cute addition for the experience. I fully recommend to stay here to experience authentic sri lankan family home were you feel safe and taken care of. On top of everything, the location is just next to the train station, which weirdly didn't impact negatively of the quietness and peace the place offers, since there is lot of plantations around the house.

The best homestay 😻

Everything was great! The family is very friendly and makes you feel at home, the breakfast is perfect and the cats and the cute little dog make it even more perfect. The room is basic which is definitely more than enough. You are in some minutes walking distance in the center of Ella. I am already looking forward to come back to this family 🥰 Thank you so much for your kindness 🙏

The driveway is very steep and there is not so much light. Nothing negative, just sth to know :)

Superb

Very friendly and helpful owner, with some lovely pets. :) The room was clean and cozy. The house was very nice. The center town of Ella is just a 2 minutes walk away and also the trainstation is very close.

Friendly owners and a feeling of home. Exactly what home stay should be!!!

The location is perfect, just away from the main part of town so it's quiet but a stone's throw from the Ella train station. Sudha the owner and husband are sooo gosh darn friendly and chatty. We requested home cooked dinners without realizing it was NOT an option for guests at that time but still Sudha generously made us one of the best rice and curry meals in all of Sri Lanka!!!! Nothing beats home cooked rice and curry and coconut sambal!!! You really feel like part of the family and this place is exactly what a true, welcoming home stay should be!

A few chickens running around that left the occasional poop. Our bathroom could use a little touch up paint.

🐱Purrrfect stay for cat lovers❤️

Perfect location (just a few steps to the city and train station). Warm hospitality and kindness of the host Sudha honestly touched my heart and will never be forgotten❤️🥰. After hiking or trips, you can just sit outside your room, on a comfy sofa, surrounded by nature, the sounds of birds and a view of the tea plantation around the corner. There are also cats that make your stay more purrrrfect🐱. I will miss them!❤️🐱 Thank you Sudha for everything! And I hope to see you next year🥰☀️🍀.

felt like family. best authentic experiences in Sri Lanka.

you feel at home as soon as you are there. it’s a home stay with a heart welcome. and you get great breakfast, surrounded by nature and lovely pets. so close to the train station as well.

that I have to leave after one day.

Siperb value with the fantastic Sudha

Sudha is a wonderful host. she was very welcoming and knowledgeable and looked after me very well.

The en suite bathroom is a little basic but has a shower, basin and toilet and for the price is excellent value

Exceptional

Very friendly host, helped to suggest locations to visit and suggested a wonderful itinierary for the 2.5 days that I was going to be there. Loved all the helpful suggestions and it made my stay in Ella enjoyable and memorable. I also used the laundry service (very quickly and nicely done at a very resonable price), I also borrowed their motorbike which was super helpful in getting me to all the places that I needed to go. Highly recommended because of the amazing hosts and quiet location just a short walk from the tourist street of Ella.

Wow! Cozy family-run guesthouse close to Ella Station. We felt like at home, not only because the landlady Sudha cooked the best vegan curry dinner we had so far in Sri Lanka, but also because of the warm hospitality, we enjoyed a lot. Besides we got all the information we needed about hiking trails and transportation. We would definitely come again. Highly recommended.

The family was very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay there, they gave us umbrellas since it was raining. The location is good, right next to the railway station and close to the main street. The food was excellent, best breakfast we had during the whole trip, the Banana pancake was delicious !

we had a really lovely stay here the owners were amazing and so helpful and always around for help. room had everything we needed and the outside area was lovely to chill around. breakfast was so good and we always had so much and even made me vegan things. location was close to everything but not too noisy only the occasional train.

Heavenly breakfast

Such a good place. Extremely close to the train station and the centre, walkable distance to everything. Excellent contact with the hostess, super kind person, I miss her and her amazing breakfast. So good. Comfortable bed with mosquito net, good shower. I will definitely come back.

WiFi was on and off but you don't need it. Focus on the place itself.

Fantastic home stay with great host and delicious food

Extraordinary host with excellent english. Amazing breakfast with coconut sambol sandwiches, fluffy banana pancakes, buffalo curd, fruits and tea. Cooking class (with torch light due to country-wide power cuts) was great, and the dinner we cooked was delicious. Beautiful location in walking distance to the train station and town center. They try very hard to keep mosquitos away from the outside lounge area at night. Good and fast laundry service.

Nothing. We felt at home. Would have loved to stay longer.

- We chose it because of it's close proximity to the train station. The hostel is still rather far away from the train station and you can easily take a tuktuk to any hostel in Ella. - for this price you can get a hostel with a better view - bathroom didn't have warm water

Perfect stay with recommended cooking class

Very friendly family, helpfull and attending. We followed a cooking class with Suda and we would highly recommend it. We made many delicious dishes and it tasted amazing, definitely going to make this at home again. The cookingclass is private in a small setting and only for people staying in the guesthouse. The house is uphill and surrounded by tea fields and many flowers and plants. Very close to the station, 5 min walk. Breakfast was amazing!

Great homestay, warmly recommended

Susa is a wonderful host. We really felt at home and enjoyed the care and hospitality of Suda and her family. everyday a great breakfast on the porch with the rising sun. Absolutely recommended especially for families.

the last bit to the property is a steep path, which might be good to know spending amount of stuur you carry/your mobility. But help is available.

Feel-at-home place

Definitely Suddha is the best, and the kindest person! You feel so welcome, it's really home! She was very flexible and arranged everything for us and more! She had cooked a very nice diner when we arrived because it was late and everything was closed! The breakfasts were the best Sri lankas we had! I wish we could stay longer to try the cooking class, because everything she cooked for us was so tasty! The place is very nice, the terrace has a great peaceful view, and it's close to everything you want to visit around! I recommand 1000%

Lovely place!

Suda is a most wonderfull host that takes very good care of her guests. The bed was comfortable, the place was clean and the location is really good if you want to be in Ella at walking distance. There is some sound from the road below if you sit on the veranda, but none of that in the room. Also the breakfast is homecooked and delicious. Its a very relaxed place, and when we were there, there were baby kittens we played with! Thank you for a great stay!

Like all places in Ella (honestly, even the restaurants we visited had this problem) the wifi sometimes disappears for a few hours.
