The entire property, rooms, staff, homemade food was nothing short of extraordinary. It certainly ranks in the top 3 homestays I have visited in the entire country. We absolutely fell in love with the place. If I am visiting Ooty next time, I would plan my travel depending on this property's avaialability.
Everything was perfect!

Colonels Inn appears to be one of the many private homes in Ooty that was converted to a hotel. It has a lovely gated courtyard with reception in the stair lobby as you enter the front doors. My room was clean and simple with a double bed, a nice wardrobe closet and a table with 2 chairs and 2 small windows that let in lots of light. The bathroom was very large and nicely tiled. The location was far enough away from the central area to be very quiet (except during Mass at the nearby cathedral) but close enough for an easy walk to town or the Botanical Gardens. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very pleasant stay
Most rooms are off of a common room (such as the first floor Dining Room or the second floor Lounge) which could be a noise issue with inconsiderate guests. Also, I did not see any heaters so the common areas were a bit cold but the room was comfortable.

Rooms are a bit overpriced for what you get.
Nice place, but basic. Walls and curtains are dirty, but overall clean.

The 70+ year old villa was a perfect walk down the memory lane. It had all the modern amenities like geyser, TV, clean & well-maintained toilets, high speed Wi-Fi etc., but the old school charm of the villa has been skillfully well-preserved. The spacious halls on both the floors & the huge terrace were an added advantage on top of the huge rooms. The hall on the ground floor has 2 big dining tables & a big screen TV. The hall on the 1st floor has a pool table, carrom board, chess table & a small library, alongside a sofa. We had taken the room with the balcony on the 1st floor (its the only one). The view of the garden below, Sacred Heart Church in the front & the faraway green mountains from the balcony was breathtaking. You can also see the sunrise from this balcony on a clear morning. This balcony is perfect to enjoy your morning tea or a couple of drinks in the evening. The staff were very very courteous and friendly, and would fend for all your needs. Awesome experience overall. Looking forward to the next visit. Food was reasonable, tasted awesome, freshly cooked in the home-kitchen and the quantity was overwhelming. A perfect value for money.
The pillows were too soft.

Nice small family hotel in quiet, easy-to-find location next to Sacred Heart cathedral. In easy walking distance to beautiful Botanical Garden. Pretty front garden. It was a pleasure to chat with members of the family who helped me to ensure my bus departure to Mysore went well. The manager and other staff also very efficient. Room and bathroom spacious, clean. Everything in working order.
Nothing, really.

There was nothing I didn't like.

The location . Decent food. Okay for the price paid.
The hygiene and cleanliness. Property had broken and dirty chairs and sofas in the room. There was a constant stench coming from the washroom that was probably due to the very old plumbing due the age of the property

Good service, Great food, clean rooms, wonderful location. My 2nd visit to the place in as many months.
There was some repair work on so the place was noisy during the day.

Very good place to stay & relax. We felt like we were at home. Big spacious clean rooms. Centrally located. Was nearby Botanical Garden. Breakfast served was very good. Wifi was fast. They had a beautiful garden. Food served was delicious, Bruzen the cook would cook very good food whatever we needed. Ram who was looking after room service was very fast & helpful. Mr. Zer who manages the place was very helpful with everything. We had the opportunity to meet the owners of the place, Mr. & Mrs. Rao, they were very warm & friendly people. Overall it was a very pleasant & memorable stay & trip. Would definitely be staying here again.
Nothing as of now.

Perfect choice for families.
Very good service by the staff, especially Mr Gopal.
The best part here is the location and the amazing food.
It's more of a homestay rather than a hotel.
