Friendly staff. Cosiness of the pub. Sleeping above the pub--i was afraid of noise but there wasn't any--Steak dinner was well-cooked and tasty. Full Irish breakfast in the morning.
The stair carpet to the upstair rooms needed a good vacuuming--really probably needs to be replaced. And the hallway carpet was filthy with ground in dirt. The room itself was very basic. The general facility had decor that had clearly accumulated over time. It had passed from charming and old-timey into just downright cluttered and worn.

Not much to like here.
Filthy carpets. No Internet! No reading lamps. Overhead light inadequate and bizarre assortment of bulbs. No heat one night. No extra blankets. Walls dirty. Place was very tired. Free bikes promised on website..there were no bikes. It looks like any flattering reviews were written by staff or friends of Skelly's. We booked based on reviews. Big mistake! Certainly not 8/10. Reviewer has Booking Genius status and been to 70 countries. I know that of which I report..

They were really pet friendly - they loved my dog from the first sight, showed us the back garden they had, so she could do her business there and they did not mind her staying in our room;-).
Although the room was upstairs, it had what we needed and thankfully it was a quiet room away from the bar, so we could get a good night sleep.
And in the morning we discovered, that breakfast was included even though I thought it was just room rate, so that was another thing there , that made me smile.
I really recommend this place, especially when you are travelling with your pet! Great value and really friendly staff there!

Location was perfect
Been woken up at 12pm by night staff asking us to keep the noise down when it was next door. That woken us up and we had unsettled night because they became louder!!!

Breakfast was good, staff were lovely. Location ideal as we did a day in Centre parks, Skellys was nearby.
No soap in the en-suite, tap water for washing was scalding hot.

We met Seamus and he was really welcoming. We were made to feel at home. We were welcomed with our dog and it was the only place in the area that took dogs. Really liked Ballymahon , a charming traditional Irish town with great examples of vernacular architecture. Home of Oliver Goldsmith.

Pat was amazing and the bartenders were top notch. Stayed on Saint Patrick's Day and had a blast. Room was clean and the bed was soft enough to sleep for ten hours. Breakfast was traditional and delicious. Would recommend to anyone that wants Ireland's hospitality.
I couldn't stay longer

The staff were great. The evening meal was very good. The overall premises are spacious with excellent outdoor facilities. Even an enclosed grass space where the dog could go.
There was no cooked food on Monday's but the staff made it clear we could bring food in, which was helpful. The water pressure was a bit low.

The location is in the middle of the town. It's ideal if you are attending an event in Ballymahon. The staff were friendly. Rooms were clean and tidy. The bar was nice.
No complaints.

REALLY FRIENDLY STAFF VERY HELPFUL. I ENJOYED LUNCH. GUINNESS WAS GOOD. PROPER PUB.

The bedroom was OK and was clean from what I could see, but there was someone's clothes in the wardrobe and someone's hand cream on the locker. I got the impression someone was staying there on a more permanent basis and vacated it for the one night. Breakfast was poor - help yourself to what you could find and no one spoke English. There didn't seem to be anyone in charge. It was disappointing.
As it is accommodation over a pub it is on the more basic side but was adequate as in the bed was comfortable and the towels were clean, however I felt that it was someone's room. Breakfast experience was very poor and we didn't see anyone in charge. It seemed that there were people living there permanently and we may have been the only paying guests. It was hard to tell.
