The location was great. It's close to the bus station and the national park. The staff at the hostel was incredibly friendly and helpful if needed be. The interior of the hostel is charming and colourful.

The hygiene and the systematic and well organised system

Very cozy and chill staying, at the Black Sheep Hostel! Fantastic relax room with a fireplace, clean kitchen and breakfast room (the breakfast Is include and so Is the use of the kitchen). The defining quality Is the laid back atmosphere and calm environment. (Writing in January, I don't know about High season but I think It wont change that much). The cons are the bathroom Is divided between too much people, which I can see becoming a little problem when the hostel Is full, and the fact that the Locker Is not a given. However, as I said, the general mood will encourage you to leave the door open, as the Locker, and don't worry too much. The staff was always ready to help and give info or assistance. I'm glad of my choice.

Great location, friendly staff, lovely breakfast and free pasta!
The plumbing needs a good overhaul.

The breakfast was great. I also liked the atmosphere in terms of getting to know new people.
My favorite place is the cozy living room area! The strong focus on sustainability makes this place special.
The heaters could have been a little warmer but to me that was no problem at all.

A very friendly , chilled out hostel with a great atmosphere and fab breakfast! Would definitely stay here again !!!
Showers a bit tight for space.

I liked how easy it was to socialize, with very cosy spaces like the living room or the garden tent. The kitchen was very well equipped and free eggs and pasta were an amazing touch. It also felt safe to leave the bags in before check in. Overall the beds were very comfortable and the amount of bathrooms too. The trips to the Gap of Dunloe the hostel organised are worth checking out, and the distance to Killarney Riding Stables is walkable.
One of my roommates was extremely rude and 'greeted me' with swearing every morning, and due to the fact she was significantly older I was intimidated and asked reception for help in the issue, but they gave the impression they didn't care to address it because the woman was a regular customer of theirs, and that apparently her swearing me off is a cultural difference. I will definitely call in to make sure I'm not put in the room with her again if I travel to Black Sheep in the future.

So cute, great facilities they thought of everything. Curtains for privacy plus reading light and plenty charging ports. Great kitchen space and garden. Very cozy
All good.

Personale disponibile e accogliente (compresi i cagnolini)!

it's a lovely place with arty walls and details. breakfast was included, too and there are 2 rooms to hang out and a kitchen to cook. in the dorms you have curtains which are light dimming and give you privacy and space. The garden is awesome, there are some chickens and it feels like they really care about living on this planet, environment, waste and how we live together. I rented a bike, there is good coffee and cake. You can spend some days there for sure!

Very helpful staff (I needed alternative check-in).
Romm was facing the street - lot of noise from cars/pedestrians...

A well maintained hostel with really friendly staff. The best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.
That I couldn’t stay longer and make use of the tours/bikes on offer.

The hostel simply feels like home. During my Ireland trip I stayed at two other hostels as well: both super clean and very modern, but much bigger and most of all: much less homely, cosy and comfortable. At the Black Sheep Hostel, all faces feel familiar after having spent just one night there. I had some bad luck during my trip and wasn’t feeling very talkative when I arrived in Killarney, but had some very much appreciated conversations nonetheless - one of them in the beautiful garden! People seemed to spend much less time on their phone in this hostel compared to the other ones I’ve stayed in. The cute dogs may have played their part, but it’s the general feeling of the hostel and the kindness of the staff that really work magic.

There is something so special about this homely place, I would definitely love to come back again! The staff were so friendly and happy to be there. I met amazing, genuine, like minded people from all over the world. It was a soul enriching experience for me and the location is perfect. The coffee bar was amazing and the homemade bread each morning was next level delicious! best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

Great hostel with amazing atmosphere and cute dogs.
+convenient facilities
+cosy common space aka "living room" and back garden
+the team was very helpful and friendly
+bikes for rent
+good breakfast included
-There could be more hooks for the clothes in the dorms instead of the broken ones.
-only one common shower (but never have to wait long, so it was more or less fine)

It's in the centre of the town, the other side from bus/train station but Killarney is small and walkable. Good energy for a hostel.
There is someone not very pleasant in the hostel but I'm not sure he is a staff or people who stays there. (using the kitchen)

Me and my partner were staying in the private room with ensuite bathroom. The room was clean and big and the bed was comfortable (very soft mattress though).
Staff was exceptionally friendly. Hostel is equipped with a nice living room and has it’s own garden.
There is a coffee shop right inside the reception wich is open every day since 7am and the coffee is really decent!
Overall very pleasant place.
First of all the room had a glass wall facing the common dining area. There was a decent curtain. But the wall at the same time is the only window in the room. So you get either privacy or some light.
The heater in the room was not working which was okay for us at the time.
There was no wardrobe in the room wich made our 3 days stay not so comfortable. Bathroom is super big but the space was kinda useless because there was nothing to place our toiletries on. No cabinet, no shelf. There were two hooks but they were not attached properly to the wall so it was challenging to use them. So the only storage was a tiny cloudy window (also facing common area) above the toilet… which had no lid!
I was waking up because people upstairs were walking and I could hear every step quite loudly.
All that above would be perfectly fine if the price would be lower. We came to Killarney the from a hotel in Dublin city center which had absolutely everything we didn’t get in the hostel + an ironing board in every room but costed almost the same money.
