Atmosphere
Newlands has been recently refurbished and its interior is modern, bright and airy, ideal for a family beach holiday in Cornwall! It is roomy and offers enough space for three generations of one family or two families to holiday comfortably. The sleeping accommodation is particularly lovely and three of the bedrooms have spectacular sea views! The cosy double bedroom in the eaves even has far reaching views to Trevose Head; perfect for enjoying a cup of tea in bed and admiring the view! The house is situated on the main road down to the beach and is just a short stroll to the beautiful, family-friendly Trevone Bay. It is also a short walk to the lesser known Newtrain beach, with its rock pools and manmade sea swimming pool. Everything you need is accessible on foot from here, including a pub, beach shop (offering surf board and wetsuit hire), café and farm shop, making it easy to hang up your car keys, relax and forget about driving during your stay.
Kitchen Living and Dining
On arrival at Newlands you will find ample parking for 2 cars in a large driveway, which goes straight out on to the main route in and out of Trevone. You enter the property through an impressive hallway, leading to two good sized, adjacent living rooms with comfy sofas and TVs - one living room for the grown ups and one for the kids, but still close enough to keep your eye on them! Off the hallway to the right is a well equipped utility room which can be accessed from outside via the side gate to the right of the property. The utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer, a freezer and plenty of storage space in large cupboards. There is also a shower room off the utility room, perfect for jumping in a washing the sand off after a day on the beach.
At the end of the hallway you come to a large, open plan, kitchen diner - the hub of the house with room for all the family! There are patio doors leading out in to the garden and light floods in through the large bay windows in the kitchen, making it a lovely place to cook, eat and relax! There is an Aga brand range cooker - gas hobs, electric ovens, just like a range cooker, not like an Aga! There is also a Lavazza A Modo Mio espresso coffee machine.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Newlands sleeps ten people in five good-sized bedrooms, three of which have lovely, modern, ensuite bathrooms, making it ideal for family getaways or group holidays! All of the bedrooms are on the first or second floors and three of the bedrooms boast spectacular sea views. The Master bedroom on the first floor is impressively large with a lovely bay window and views down to Trevone Bay. The ensuite in this room is the largest and has a bath and separate shower! A hop up one stair leads to a comfortable double room, also with an ensuite bathroom. There are also two twin rooms on this floor, one of which has a sea view and one is convertible to a super king. Between the two twin rooms is the family bathroom, making getting the kids ready for bed a breeze. Up the curving stairs is a cosy, king bedroom under the eaves, with the most spectacular view towards Trevose Head.
Facilities
Newlands is centrally heated throughout and has plenty of storage in the utility room. There is wireless broadband and a landline telephone. There is mobile reception at the house generally, although Trevone reception is not great. Being a family friendly property it comes complete with a travel cot, roller stair-gate at the bottom of the stairs and highchair.
Outside
The patio doors in the dining area lead out onto an enclosed, decked area with fabulously comfortable patio furniture, ideal for sipping a glass of wine on a sunny evening or relaxing while someone cooks up a storm on the fire pit style BBQ. There are steps down onto a lawned area, which has a sunken trampoline and enough space for a kick about. There is also a large empty shed which the kids could use as a play den or for extra storage for all those sandy wetsuits and surf boards.
Nearby
Trevone Bay Surf Store is right on the beach and offers surfboard, kayak, paddle board and wetsuit hire, as well as delicious ice creams and a good variety of beach goods and clothes. There is also a café here serving good coffee, cakes and light meals during the day and is also now open for dinner in the evenings and has a good reputation.
The village shop provides newspapers, fresh bread and pasties daily, throughout the main season. Padstow Farm Shop is also a short walk or drive on the coast path towards Padstow and supplies top quality meat and vegetables, amongst other goodies!
Explore the coast path in either direction - round the heading past Hawker s Cove to Padstow, or south to Harlyn, Trevose Head and beyond. Dogs can run free on Newtrain beach all year round, whilst the main beach is suitable for whichever activity takes your fancy - sunbathing, surfing, swimming, rock-pooling, beach games - or just some horizontal downtime soaking up the sun (with a bit of luck!).
