I liked that I could sleep in a bed, instead of sleeping on the street. This was the only value.
It was a Soviet experience! I arrived at 20:30 in the top of the high season, and it was all dark: not one light, and all doors closed. I called the phone number and the lady came to meet me at the parking of the pension. She gave me the key to the room, and she asked for the 53 Euro for the night, standing in the dark parking, with my suitcase in my hands. I said that I don't have cash on me, and I will pay tomorrow by card. Then she was about to go, and I asked her to show me where the room was, because everything was dark. She accepted to show me the way. Then I wanted to ask her about breakfast, but she was already gone. The morning after I found something that seemed like the reception. I knocked on the door, and the man told me: "53 Euro". I said that I wanted breakfast and he seemed annoyed. Then I realized that they don't serve breakfast: they only have a restaurant with goulash and similar, not ideal for 9 AM! I ordered a cappuccino at the restaurant, and the two girls said: "3 Euro". I paid, and asked for sugar, but they seemed annoyed, because they were enjoying chatting, and because they were not able to speak English anyway. Nobody was. Fortunately I speak some Czech. The room was extremely poor, definitely not worth 53 Euro. Everyone looked annoyed to have a guest. They were only able to ask for money. It was sad, but also quite funny. It seemed that the Berlin wall had fallen one week before!
