About this house rental
Lovely, three-bedroom home in the lakefront community of Vermilion Ohio, which is absolutely beautiful. All knotty pine, open airy floor plan with lots of windows, a very large first floor master bedroom with updated new master bath, a large open living room, a first floor office, a gorgeous lakefront kitchen, half bath down brand new full bath up, with additional large upstairs bedrooms. There is a large deck facing the lakefront, a large front porch, and a fenced back yard. Our home is a charming, cozy and immaculate vacation home that will accommodate up to six people.
Located in Vermilion, Ohio, our home is located in the historical lakefront neighborhood of Vermilion on the Lake. Down the street from our home is a large neighborhood playground and park (SHOWSE PARK) for the kids, with a neighborhood beach, basket ball court, tennis court, a soccer field and a kayak launch. A local YMCA is within walking distance for your early morning workouts.
So spend a day at Cedar Point and then head off to the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame and visit the many sites of Cleveland (USS Mather, the USS Cod submarine, the many nightclubs in the Flats by the Cuyahoga River, the Science Museum, or catch an Indians game). The next day just sit on the deck or porch with a book, go to the neighborhood beach, or take a trip into downtown Vermilion. And always - just hang around and watch the sun set. The combinations and possibilities are endless.
This enchanting little town has always been a seaside community with a New England style atmosphere. This is the kind of town that still has a working soda fountain, a town square and summer concerts on the green. People here actually sit on their front porches on a summer evening. Rated by Readers Choice Awards as one of the top seaside vacation towns in the US, Vermilion is the crowning jewel of the south shore of Lake Erie. From quaint shops to fine dining, the arts, entertainment and unmatched festivities, Vermilion truly has it all.
The Vermilion River, which flows into Lake Erie, provides for marina facilities with more than 1,000 boat slips and ramps for easy access to the Lake, earning Vermilion the title of the “Largest Small Boat Harbour on the Great Lakes.” Public docks are within walking distance of multiple attractions - shops, restaurants, and a variety of art galleries.
Located close to Cedar Point, Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari Water Park, Sports Arena, Lake Erie Islands, Lakeview Park, Huron, Sandusky, the local wineries, and the wonderful City of Cleveland, and the Cleveland Clinic. For up-to-date events and programs offered for this month and for the summer, please visit: [email protected].
****A couple of disclosures – remember - this is a house abutting Lake Erie. It has a ten foot drop off. While a waterfront, there is no direct beach or water access. There is a beach down the street at Shows Park but it may be impacted by high water levels. Never fear - Vermilion maintains lots of other wonderful close by beaches.

vacation special.

My family’s experience staying at Kate’s house in Vermillion was top-notch. The location is great: a few minutes drive into town in a nice neighborhood for evening walks to Showse Park. The back yard deck is a beautiful hang-out spot, right on Lake Erie. Kate reached us the day before arrival and provided all info (key location, wi fi code etc.) in a clear message and was easily reachable if needed.
This house was immaculately clean. So many personal supplies were provided like shampoo, soap, abundant bath towels, as well as coffee, filters, and a day-one morning breakfast pastry to get us started. The beds / pillows / bedding were high-quality and super comfortable for a luxurious vacation feel. Very well stocked kitchen has all the tools to prepare family dinner. Clearly the hosts take great pride in creating an enjoyable experience in their home and on their property. We loved our time in Vermilion. We went kayaking on the Vermilion river (West River Paddling Co. is close by), went to lovely restaurants and shops (Chez Francois, the Wine Vault, Poppin Around, Brewed Awakenings and more) and also enjoyed cooking-in some nights, staying up late talking and drinking wine on the deck. We will definitely be back!

Kate‘s place was perfect for a girls getaway. We love sitting on the deck and having a cocktail and then going into the kitchen to cook. It was a pleasure as it’s a very well stocked kitchen. All rooms were comfortable and it’s a great location.

The house was very nice and the listing had lots of pictures. The 3 bedrooms were all large and there were lots of comfortable chairs. Also, plenty of towels and bedding were available, and the kitchen was all stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The house was wonderful and the location on Lake Erie was fantastic!

This goes beyond waterfront...stand on the deck and actually feel the spray from the lake! Amazing view from all 3 bedrooms, incredibly well appointed kitchen, and more linens than you could ever need. Don't miss this one!

We chose this beautiful home for the breathtaking views of Lake Erie. It is perfectly located between different cities we visited. The home was so comfortable and had everything we needed. There are also some great restaurants and shops right in Vermilion. We actually were able to sit outside and enjoyed the lake, due to the warm weather! We recommend this lovely home to everyone.

My sister and I had a sisters weekend. The home was beautiful and of course we were by the lake!! Great weekend. Definitely would go back if the opportunity arises!

The view. Wow! We spent three days reading, resting and playing cards and watching the water. We even brought dinner back all three nights just so we could eat looking at the water. Our very first visit to any of the Great Lakes and the hospitality of the hosts and all of the shop owners and locals in downtown Vermilion was lovely. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We had a wonderful time and already plan to come back again next year as we have for many years before. The place is clean and comfortable and the view is incredible!

We loved this home. Views were spectacular, house was beautifully appointed.

We are used to staying in a small cottage on the lake, so this house felt like a mansion! I loved that the master suite was on the first floor. The kitchen looked like it could be on the Food Network! We also liked the sitting room, the deck, the short walk to Showse Park, the puzzles, the living area, ...I could go on and on.
I need to apologize to the owners. I would have liked for the master bath window to have either been glass block or had a blind over it. We put bags over the window with painters tape, and we left them there. We didn't realize it until we got home.
One other note to those who might be highly sensitive, the basement and master closet had a slightly musty smell. I couldn't smell it at all if the basement and closet doors were closed, and it didn't bother me anyway.
To reiterate, WE LOVED THIS HOUSE!

Spent a week at the house while enjoying our boat on Lake Erie. The house was comfortable, clean and fully stocked. The hosts were very welcoming and responsive. I can’t say enough about the gorgeous view from the back yard, we enjoyed many hours relaxing and enjoying the lake from the deck!

We really enjoyed our stay! Kate was so easy to work with. She responded to our questions immediately. She made us feel so welcome-had coffee, creamer and English muffins waiting for us the first morning. Her home was spacious and comfortable. You could view the lake from the multiple kitchen windows, the back deck and the bedrooms. Easy access to Vermilion. We would highly recommend this property!

I have to say the view made our 5 night vacation. I had been to Vermilion 5 times but that was 30 yrs ago so being able to rent a fantastic house with everything you might need for cooking and other things was a dream….we didn’t want to leave. Very quiet which we wanted, comfortable, convenient, just one of best VRBO’s we have stayed at and we lived on the west coast for years…Kate made things very easy….our 13 yr old dog loved it walks to the lakefront park and all the lake birds. Can’t wait to book again!

We were three ladies on a girlfriend trip. We were impressed with the cleanliness (and we’re picky) as well as how well-equipped the kitchen was. The location worked for us and our activity level, but if you’re looking for easy access to the water or the marina then this is a bit farther than other places. Still, one of the most comfortable and spacious rentals any of us have experienced. Thanks for a great time. We’ll try to make this an annual trip!

Cozy Cottage is very well laid out, beautifully kept up with everything we needed for a restful stay on the Lakefront in Vermillion. Just a few minutes drive to Vermilion, Sandusky or Lorain, it was the perfect place to explore. Kate was really helpful and responsive with suggestions for eating and places to visit. We would recommend this place highly.

Immaculate home with three very large bedrooms. Host was very responsive prior to renting, and included a nice breakfast surprise of English muffins as we were arriving late our first night of our three night stay. Only a five-minute drive into the heart of Vermillion, so convenient to shops and restaurants. We have family in Oberlin as well, which was a twenty minute drive the other way.
We’re experienced VRBO renters (never a bad experience in renting a dozen plus times in five States and counting), and this was among the top two homes we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. We’ve already discussed returning in the Fall for another stay at this lakefront home.

This is an annual trip for us, and our fourth time here. We keep coming back because it is perfect! We love it here.

The property was very large and more than capable of handling our family. Everything was clean upon arrival and I was impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was. There were more than enough towels and linens for our stay.
We had one issue during our stay and the host was very responsive and worked with us to make sure our stay was great.

Enjoyed our stay! House is as in the pictures & would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful long-weekend stay here. The house was very comfortable and well-equipped. The views of Lake Erie were outstanding. What a treat to have lake views from every room! The deck was well used since we had the bonus of warm sunshine in late October. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed several nearby restaurants, explored beaches just down the road, and it was an easy trip to spend a day in Cleveland.

My wife and I stayed at the property in the early fall, the house was always comfortable. Plenty of space for a large family if needed. I've never been in a house with more wall outlets than this one. if you need to plug something in your cup spilleth over. All of the beds in the house are memory foam if that is your thing, we brought a foam topper just in case. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the utensils, cookware, and dishware you'd need, the only thing I could find we were larger mixing bowls.
In terms of location it is really well located. 40 minutes to downtown Cleveland and 15 to Avon. There's a pretty good Mexican restaurant right down the street, Giant eagle is a quick 5 minute trip, and a nice park down the road with a path down to the water.
We would greatly recommend staying at this location.

Had a wonderful time! The waves on Sunday were amazing with the left over winds from hurricane Ian. We've been here before and hope to come back again.

Top quality Erie property with great host. Our third stay, which should tell you something. We will be back!

Great, comfy home with peaceful view of lake Erie and numerous types of birds. Eagle visits several times a day.
Had great weather and spent most of our time on back porch with lovely view and breezes.
Note: from backyard not able to see the horizon sunset exactly, but all the colors are there.
Lots of dishes, cookware, and everything you need in kitchen. Even a second refrigerator in laundry room. The beds are really comfy. There was a 4th bedroom, not listed, which was helpful.
The basement is an inviting game room with nice pool table, but smelled a bit musty, so we couldn't use it but would have liked to. No windows there.
Neighbor's houses are very close and they were very nice and it still felt private. Several parks nearby.
For security, I would rather work with a changing code door system versus handing off keys and there's only 1 key, which meant hiding it for different return times.
Everyone was super satisfied and recommends this listing.

Great views of Lake Erie headline this property - kitchen and each bedroom provide same. Nearby Showes park was not “beach” ready to swim (no beach as lake was high), but Vermillion beach is a short drive away.

This is a very nice property with everything you'll need for an enjoyable stay. The view of the lake is beautiful. We would highly recommend it.
