Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and warm, with a renovated bathroom featuring excellent water pressure. There were plenty of towels and extra blankets for colder nights.
The beds were comfortable (2x single beds), the television worked well, and the heater/AC was silent. The room was well-equipped with a toaster, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, and a minifridge with milk. They even provided some biscuits.
Overall, this motel provided a comfortable and convenient stay, and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Ballarat.

Room was a great size with a king bed. Curtains were very heavy which provided for a nice dark room. Didnt really hear any road noise either, seeing we had a room facing the road. There was an Indian/Grill restaurant next door and a fantastic pizza bar a bit further down.
It was very dark outside room at night. A couple of garden lights would of been nice. The bed was very high and made getting into it a bit awkward.

Room was a good size , quite large in fact. Bathroom was very good. It was a cold weekend but the aircon warmed us up very well.
The room was impeccably clean, the linens fresh and white, the towels ,smaller than some, but very fluffy and absorbent.
We were self catering and the microwave was just what we needed
Will stay there again.
Checkin was a bit strange. Nobody was on-site when we arrived. No staff no other clients.
We called the number on the door, were given instructions, by message, on how to get the key from the lock box and we were in. We stayed two nights, we’re very comfortable and the only staff we saw was the cleaner in the mornings.

Room was comfy, bathroom was excellent. The bunk beds are really only suitable for children. The area where the motel was located was quite but close to shopping areas.

size of rooms, a little bit small for a king bed and a bunk but fitted okay for three people. not sure how 4 would go

The room was very clean, with everything that you need. Very good location within east drive to tourist attractions and city centre. Nice and quiet.
The beds are super uncomfortable and lumpy. Fine for a night but not much longer than that!
Motel seemed “unmanned”, no one at reception, all done remotely.

sleeping in a King Size bed.
newly renovated bathroom.
motel was located across the road from the Eureka Memoral Park and was minutes from the Ballarat CBD.
Stayed for 7 nights, and I asked for sheet change and bed to be remade after 4 nights. Had I not asked, I felt management would have allowed us to sleep in the same sheets for 7 nights.
On a number of occasions, I asked the cleaner to provide clean towels.
The motel did not have a washing machine or dryer, I used a laundromat nearby.
The motel information provided in the room stated breakfast was available.. Management advised they do not provide breakfast, although a bus load of customers were provided breakfasts in the large reception area during the week.
Whilst insignificant, there was not a clock in the room, I referred to my watch, phone or television for the time.
Traffic noise was high from 7am on weekdays..no issues for those leaving the motel early. But we were on holidays for 7 nights/days and a room located along the back of the motel would have been more quiet and suited us better.

The hotel style rooms are more modern. You pay for what you get, it's a cheap hotel
Cabin was dated, heater struggled to heat the space. Very very outdated and basic space and not very clean.

Reception staff was friendly and helpful on arrival with check-in processes straightforward.
The family superior room was adequate for my mother and I for an overnight stay.
I was told upon checkin that there was no breakfast available. Website doesn't state this. Told by Reception staff that since Covid-19 this service hasn't been offered. I informed the Receptionist that their website should be updated to reflect this as this was one of the reasons for choosing Miners Retreat Motel for our stay.
Upon finding our room it was observed on either side of our room were two couples smoking outside their respective rooms. One male was sitting on the back of his tailgate (Dual cab backed into the room) whilst his partner was standing nearby. The other couple were sitting at the table and chair set outside their room. Due to our room being hot upon arrival we had no choice but to leave the door ajar and open the window. The couples continued outside drinking alcohol and smoking for 1.5hrs approx. During that time one of the ladies was heard talking on her mobile phone using profanities as she continued to walk around smoking outside the unit. I went to Reception to discuss the matter and see if we could shift to another room due to the continued smoking and poor language. The Receptionist agreed that even shutting the front unit door wouldn't stop the smoke entering the unit because there is a large gap under the door. My mother is aged 78 years and I am 53years and both non-smokers. The Receptionist contacted Management (off-site) and I was told that there was nothing they could do as all motel rooms were booked out. There was no offer from Management to speak to the other two couples about smoking on the grounds which clearly states in booking conditions that the property is strictly non-smoking. There were some outdoor timber tables a short stroll adjacent to our unit that we could have escaped to, no chairs available to use. A Queen cabin was the solution offered to us but came at full cost with no discount offered.

The room was warm and cosy and the beds were very comfortable beds . Although located fairly close to town, it was very peaceful and quiet. I really appreciated that there was plenty of parking. You really can't go wrong with staying at the Miner's Retreat Motel. It is ideally located to enjoy all the great things that Ballarat has to offer.
Everything was great.
