Fantastic place. Very clean and the bungalows are spacious and have everything you need. The property is beatiful with a lot of plants, we even got some avocados right from the tree. The food was great and affordable. The owner and his wife are very helpful and friendly. We took a one day tour from the owner and it was great.

Firstly this is one of the best Homestay we have had during our 1 month in Cambodia and we spent 7 days here.
If you want an authentic local stay, this is the place to come. Mr Smey and his family are so friendly, with nothing appearing to be a problem (whether it's booking tickets, hiring scooters, etc) - OT climbing one of the trees to pick Avacados!!
The accommodation (Bamboo Hut), gardens and facilities are amazing, great wifi and everywhere is super clean. The room we stayed in was spacious, and remained cool, during the day and night - with a large mosquito net. The outside veranda and hammock is a great space to chill-out, and relax. Food is absolutely delicious for Breakfast and Dinner and reasonably priced.
Location was ideal for us, being close to all the amenities and sights, but also far enough away to be peaceful and relaxing.

Tout ! Le calme, la fraicheur nocturne et la gentillesse des propritaire ainsi que leur professionalisme. Notre bungalow était très spacieux (2pax) et bien aménagé. Les hébergements sont situés au cœur d'un joli parc végétal. Il y a une petite english school pour aider les petits cambodgien au sein de l'établissement c'est top! Les plats préparés par la propritaire sont délicieux. De plus, je vous conseille de programmer le treck avec cet etablissement on a passé un moment merveilleux avec ses amis (les guides) qui connaissent la jungle comme personne et sont tres sympathiques !! N'hésitez pas à booker !

The decor of the place is great. Lovely flowers and trees. Very nicely decorated, like little paradise. Owners are friendly.
If you're specifically looking for a homestay this is not the place. It is not a home away from home. This is just a family run business with around 10 ensuite bungalows. The owner is a nice guy but needs to get help, he can't run it all by himself. I arrived, got into my bungalow only for 30 minutes later to be moved into a lesser one that didn't have toilet roll, the complimentary water or even a toilet seat. A soup took almost an hour to arrive. The tour he promised me changed. I can't count the amount of times this guy said sorry to me.
You won't have dinner with the family, it's a restaurant. He didn't have time to teach his free english class, because was overwhelmed with customers, and its not even peak season. I stepped in for that class. Otherwise, there's a rude paedophile looking guy there who volunteers to teach other classes He made me feel very uneasy with his staring and lack of ability to even say a hello.
In sum, if you are looking for a homestay in particular. This is not the spot.
If you have time to sit around and wait for things in the idillic gardens then this is your spot. I for one, will not return here.

Rooms are cozy, very clean and surrounded by an amazing garden full of flowers. Smey is a very valuable host, really keen in taking care of his guests. He helped us with transfers and with the organization of the activities in Banlung. Also, his wife is great in cooking.

This is the most beautiful home stay. The owner, Smey, is the kindest and most welcoming host you could imagine. He really helps you get to know the area - he took us to visit some amazing tribal villages. He really looks after his guests and when I was feeling unwell he offered many times to take me to the hospital or doctors which I didn’t end up needing but was so reassuring. The bedrooms are very clean and really luxurious. There’s also a lovely hammock and balcony off of each room which makes for the perfect place to relax. The garden is both charming and extremely well thought through. Smey’s wife is the most wonderful cook and we ate the most delightful fresh food all week, they have an extensive menu. I can’t recommend staying here enough. If you find yourself in Banlung this really is the place to stay !!

Smey was the best host we have ever had! He can organize almost anything for you in Banlung and beyond! He supported us with so many things, from organizing an amazing 2-day jungle trekking adventure to making sure we make it safe and sound across the Laos border. Smey is such an amazing person and we always enjoyed sitting together with him in the evenings and listening to his stories. (We stayed 5 days)
Not only is Smey an amazing host but his Homestay is such a beautiful and peaceful place. Perfect to calm down, relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. On top of that, the food is also delicious! I don’t know what else to say: if you want to have a great experience in Banlung, stay with Smey! :)

Tribal Village is a wonderful homestay with clean and cozy bungalows in a beautiful garden. Smey will go out of his way to make your stay as pleasant as possible, while his wife will spoil you with fabulous food. The value for money is incredible! We can highly recommend.

There is a nice nature vibes at the homestay and the rooms, bedsheets and bathroom are really clean and there are mosquito nets.
You can order food directly at the homestay it's delicious !
The location is perfect, quiet, and also close to waterfalls. There is not much traffic in this area, you can enjoy walking, cycling or riding a bike !
Go to check the place and I'm sure you will extend your stay !

The home stay was a tidy area, beautiful garden, relaxing and welcoming. The hammock on the balcony was shaded, the home cooked menu was tasty and you can fill up your water bottle. The owner was helpful, accommodating, went on the 2 day jungle trek, a great experience and slept under the stars in a hammock.

How can I describe this paradise ..?
We were supposed to stay 2 days, we stayed 7 and we found a family!
Smey built the whole place by himself. The bungalows are a little gem in the middle of the jungle. Very confortable, 100% clean with everything you need.
The family paid attention to all your needs…
We had a party with his friends and family, we attended English lessons given by Smey for the village kids.
His wife is the best cook in town!! No need to go anywhere else, this is the best place to eat by far!
We rented his motorbike (very good quality) to go to the lakes and the waterfalls.
Very good WiFi!
He organized our whole trip to Laos (4000 islands) and made sure that everything was perfect and smooth to cross the border.
We were so sad to leave this family … We hope to come back very soon!

Second time I've been here and like last time I felt home. Nice bungalows with private bathroom and comfortable bed. From the home stay you can easily reach two waterfalls in few minutes driving just for chilling, then there are more activities to do in ratanakiri province, everything with the help of Smey, the owner! Thanks again!

I definitelly fall in love with Tribal Village Homestay. Amazing jungle garden with tribal bungalows, with king size beds, bathroom and terrace. Comfortable for one or couple.Great homemde meals, laundry for free. Wifi connection. Drinking water for free also. Warmly welcoming owner, who speaks great English and focuses on guiding. Smey is really skilled to guide tourists to deep jungle forest and take care about food and comfort during days/nights…

It felt like waking up in a jungle! The garden around the bugalows is really nice. The bungalows are simple, but they are really clean and you have enough space. But the best part is the owner, Smey. He is really friendly and helped us with everything. He makes sure, that you feel at home and that your stay is the best. He organized a tuk tuk tour for us and helped us with the organisation for our trip to the border to Laos and to 4000 Islands. He made sure, that we were prepared so we had no troubles with our journey! We would love to come back and do a jungle trek :)

Great for the price. Location worked for me as I wanted to be nearer the end of town with the waterfalls. Smey was helpful organising trekking and onward travel. He also managed to get me some passport photos for my Laos visa. Good value meals and tasty.
Some noise so ear plugs may be useful especially if want to sleep early.

The hospitality is amazing. Smey and his wife who are the owners of the place were very helpful, caring, always responding to our needs. Super tasty meals. Cozy and beautiful huts and garden. Comfortable beds. Possibility to rent the scooters and hiking in the jungle with the guide from the tribe. Smey knows everyone and everyone knows Smey so he can organize you everything :) Lovely experience with lots of rest in the hammock.
There is only cold shower available which is not a problem because of the temperatures here (above 30 degrees Celsius). The owner is planning to build a common hot shower bathroom in the nearest time.

I strongly recommend this homestay if you come to Banlung ! Smey and his family are extremely kind and welcoming! The place is beautiful with bamboo bungalows (all made by Smey). The food is great and at good prices.
I went on 2 day-trips with Smey, he is very interesting and tells you a lot of stories about his life and country.
Smey helped me to book a mini van at a very good price to go to Vietnam and drove me to the bus station early in the morning for free.
I also had the opportunity to participate to the free english lessons he is giving to the kids of its village.
Don’t miss this homestay !

It’s a very charming place, a walhalla of bamboe. It had a really authentic look. It’s clean, flowerfull and shady. The food was very tasteful. Smey and his wife (and their little son :-) are very helpful, correct and trustfull. That’s what you need abroad.
A special recommending to the jungle tour (2 days) if you are a bit adventural and like the basic and natural way of live. An eye-opener.
Being at Smey’s place and exploring with him the jungle was an absolute highlight in our travel !

The Tribal Village Homestay is a wonderful little oasis! The property is gorgeous, and you really feel like you are far from civilization. You're not far from the center of Banlung, just a few minutes on a motorbike. The hospitality is exceptional. The host will answer all your questions and help you arrange anything you want. I ended up staying in the two person bungalow, which was very comfortable and clean. You are staying in a bungalow, though, so if you are sensitive to light and sound I would recommend bringing an eye mask and ear plugs.
Staying here was one of the highlights of my time in Ratanakiri province, and I 100% recommend it to others.

Lush, lovingly maintained, squeaky clean garden, with vegetation dense enough to make the compound feel like a little village in a forest and to isolate from the nice but not especially exciting residential/plantation surroundings of Kha chagn. The bungalows are very cozy, with good mosquito nets, half of them in traditional (Tampoen tribe culture) style, and entirely functional bathrooms. Smey the owner devoted all his energy for several years to building his homestay, and is wholly dedicated to his guests; also speaks as fluent English as could be desired (he runs a little English language school which gives a chance to interact with the kids) and genuinely cares about the non-Khmer tribal folks who populate the region, to which he can provide abundant introductions. The place is not in Banlung proper, but there's no nightlife to be missed there, it's close to the bus terminal, and Kha chagn village has a bunch of eateries with good local grub and beer.
Reasonably, nothing. There is a bit of traffic noise during the day, but it's near-unavoidable in Cambodia, and at night it's very quiet.

Everything…I sent tribal village a message through booking.com and he picked me up from bus stop.it was a 5/10 minute motorcycle ride and as soon as I arrived at the Homestay I felt at home.basic bamboo bungalow,clean and comfortable,cold water shower with a hammock on the balcony and all the bungalows set in a lovely garden..there is a small restaurant good prices and good food.Mr & Mrs Smey we’re lovely people,and their son was lovely,a big ball of energy,I had a lot of fun playing with him.they explained where the lake and waterfalls were and sorted me out a motorcycle so I could visit and go exploring,also they can sort out transport to your next destination and the van picks you up from the Homestay.from Monday to Friday between 4 & 7 Mr Smey holds English classes for the local children,where he teaches them how to read and speak English.lovely,friendly,smiling children,a couple of times I sat in with their classes and had conversations with the children,a fantastic experience.when I’m back in Ban Lung I will definitely be staying there again

The owner is very friendly. He was too our guide to visit the different water falls, the lake and also a a mine of Gem stones in Ratanakiri. Breakfast are good and simple. Sometimes our guide books the dinner in a restaurant in Ban Lung and he was also kind with us.

Far the best stay in Cambodia I have ever had! Smey and his wife will take care of you like about family member. Smey can speak english very well. He can organise trip for you with his Smiling tours company. He is something like guru guide in Ratanakiri. Besides that he teaches children from the village for free. You can also join as a volunteer. And his homestay is such a place in paradise. Very clean and comfortable bungallows with attached toilets. I enjoyed green garden as well and appreciated silence here. The breakfast with fresh baguette, homemade coffee, delicious lunch and dinner...Smey's wife is really perfect cook. Smey arranged bus ticket for me and took me to the stand, rented motorbike for reasonable price and many others. I enjoyed the stay here and hope that I will come back soon. Thank you for everything.
