The cottage is quite old but charming. There is enough room for a large family without feeling crowded. We usually stay in frankfort on crystal lake but decided to try something different. Joanna is very helpful and communicated quickly with us. Onekama is quiet but has alot to offer with lake michigan so close and of course the sleeping bear dunes. We had a great week and the weather was perfect. We would rent here again.

This is our 4th time staying at this house and Onekama is our favorite town to visit. The house is large with plenty of bedrooms for everyone and well equipped with everything you would need. It is located right on Portage lake with swimming right off the dock. We will definitely book again for next year

The cottage was exactly what we were looking for - a traditional, old school lakefront cottage with easy access to Lake Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Our group of 9 could comfortably sit together lakeside, on the screened porch, in the dining room and also the living room. Sleeping rooms and bathrooms are rustic, yet charming. Everything about the cottage is well thought out and equipped. Pride of ownership shows. Highly recommend this wonderful property.

A dishwasher would have been nice

Lots of room for sleeping for our two families. The lake in the backyard made for lots of wonderful swimming and kayaking. Very comfortably furnished inside and out with plenty of space for lounging and dining.

SO nice to be right on the water at beautiful Portage Lake! The location was perfect for us - close to town, but easy to get out and see the sights... We would love to go back!

We had a wonderful time at this house for three nights!! The house was clean and comfortable for five mom’s and six daughters!!! The lake was clear and the tiny town of Onekama was just perfect!!! We would definitely come back!!!! Thank you to the owner, Joanna!!!!😀�

We had a wonderful stay. Joanna was timely in responding to questions. Since the cottage is on M-22 it can be loud from traffic noise. The house itself was large and charming. The best parts for our family were the large screened in porch, the fire pit and the kayak. We would love to stay again.

Great place to swim, kayak and enjoy beautiful sunsets! Many happy memories. We'll be back!

We had such a great family vacation! Loved being right on the lake! It was easy for the kids to swim and fish right from the dock and very convenient since we had brought our own boat (although we had to be careful since the mooring buoy moved around quite a bit). The house was plenty big -- lots of room for everyone -- and very clean. We had no problem not having AC with the cool lake breezes in the evening. We loved having the screened in porch to protect us from the mosquitoes! Onekama was a fun little town -- close to ice cream and fun restaurants (we enjoyed the Blue Slipper and Yellow Dog Cafe) -- and only 10-15 minutes from Meijers for bigger grocery needs. We made two trips to Lake Michigan for some beach time, but the kiddos preferred the warmer waters of Lake Portage. The house is right on the main road, but from the back, sitting on the dock watching the sunset, it really isn't a problem. Side note, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean and well kept, and it was nice having all the bedrooms, but the walls upstairs do not go all the way to the ceiling (not a problem for us, but if you were looking for more privacy something to consider).

Great location, close to the town but not too close. Lots of large area's in the house to gather all family members and just hang out. Would consider staying there again.

We have been going to Onekama for over 20 years. This is one of the best houses we have stayed in. It is right on Portage lake and a short drive to Lake Michigan. It has everything you need for your vacation. There are a total of 6 bedrooms and plenty of space for a large family. Having a second refrigerator was nice and also a washer and dryer. Like all houses, it doesn’t have AC but it was not an issue as there were several fans provided. We will be planing to stay here next summer as well

The cottage is right on the road, but it’s not a busy one. The six charming bedrooms make it perfect for a large group. The lake facing screened porch is where we spent most of our time. Portage Lake is clear and lovely for swimming. Arcadia Bluffs, close by, are a must see with exquisite views of Lake Michigan.

Perfect location! Jump off the dock for a swim in warm Portage Lake or drive a couple minutes and you're on Lake Michigan. We often spend our summer vacation driving around to friends and relatives houses when we're back in Michigan. This time we had everybody come visit us! Great place for entertaining our visitors while hanging out by the water and enjoying the scenery. Fun was had by all! Also, take a quick walk down to The Glenwood for amazing food. We also got to enjoy one of the summer concerts in the park while we were there. Perfect lakefront cottage charm and feel!

The family enjoyed the easy of access to the lake every morning. Wake up and go fishing! There was plenty of space for everyone. The kids had fun swimming and kayaking. The closeness of Lake Michigan was nice whether by boat or driving. Walking to town and back was great exercise and not too far. Very equipped and relaxing! Overall it was excellent place to be!

This is our second year to rent the cottage. Our family group spans three generations and the space well accommodates our needs. The addition of the expanding dock at the end of the pier was a hit, especially with the higher lake level. The screened in porch across the back of the cottage is a preferred place to sit and enjoy the lake and not get eaten by bugs. Our family has been coming to Onekama for almost 40 years and we love the laid back ambience of the region and always find lots to do.

The cottage is so comfortable and the decor is lovely. We spent a good deal of time on the screened-in porch which looks out to the lake. There were no bugs and we could enjoy the outdoors even when it rained. The cottage was well-equipped for all our needs. The view was tranquil and serene. We had fun swimming and fishing and enjoyed a trip to Frankfort for a great Friday fish dinner at Dinghy's.
