The location was great, there was plenty of snow so the skiing was great. The staff were very friendly. The 'Black Cat' service offered at the hotel efficiently and economically transported all our ski gear to our last hotel for the trip home while we did some touring around Japan. We did enjoy our stay.
We did not realise when we booked that we would be sleeping on the floor. It may have been possible to book a room with western beds, but we were not aware of this so it was a bit of a shock. We also expected showers in the room but not so. We were on the third floor and the onsen was on the ground floor, requiring a trip down each morning and evening for showers etc. There was no chair in the room so putting on ski gear on the floor was a struggle. All of this was our fault for not requesting the appropriate room type. All of the above said, we did have a great time.

ski rental a bit expensive than other hotels; when I checked out I was told that the weekend 2 days room rate is more expensive than I was told when I made the reservation.

It was close to the lifts. The breakfast and dinner was filling and tasteful.
They could try to sharpen the edges of snowboard as some of them you couldn't ride on the icy slope.

Breakfast was a superb Kaiseki Japanese style with a few bakery items as well.
Staff were always friendly and helpful.
It was ski-in/ski-out most days depending on the snow cover on the side of a road section about 100m. Location was excellent in the centre of the many Shiga Kogen ski fields.
Rooms were large for Japanese tatami style accommodation.
We ate 3 meals in-house which were Kaiseki style and very good.
The onsen was a good size, good temperature and good changing area.
A few dinner options nearby which is good at Shiga Kogen, but there's not that many.
Hard to find things I didn't like, but the hotel is getting a little tired and need of some touch ups. Getting the front bar area to be more attractive with better furniture and a fire place and staffed so a better atmosphere could be created would be great. Also, a little more information in english on the ski fields for new guests to get started would be helpful.

great japanese breakfast included in our tarriff. The manager went out of his way to assist us with an issue unrelated to the hotel. Great access to Ichinose slopes, which is in t
he centre of Shiga Kogen ski area.
While kaiseki dinner was great, it would have been good to have a cheaper option in the hotel. We had to find alternatives nearby

Love the location, it was nice and clean and the place offered you several amenities like hair dryer, laundry, onsen and WiFi. The breakfast they served was excellent. Our room had a mini balcony (which we didn’t use) but we had views of the mountain and that was nice!
I never minded sleeping on the tatami, but what really made it uncomfortable was the pillow. They never give you a decent pillow, felt more like sleeping on a bag of rice.

Public Bath and Breakfast
1-Yen8000 for set Dinner which is way too expensive (you can get a very deceent one in Nagano for only 2000 yen)
2- no housekeeping, changing of towels, bedsheets, at all 6 nights in a row - public bath only cleaned once for the whole week!
3 - Ichinose village has only 1-2 noodles shops serving dinner at night, i.e. you have no CHOICE of DINNER besides your own hotel! (Most Shiga Kogen hotels in Ichinose serves students group tour own - i.e. foreigners/guests not welcome!)
4 - because of low (<10% occupany- while nearby hotels are all full), hotel owners determine to close all the public areas even for Guests! The Hotel owner was not friendly and helpful at all!
5) even a nearby "convenience" store was not opened every day and only opned at noon and closed by 8pm!

Stayed in the traditional room which we were apprehensive about but it was great. Onsens were communal but split male/female. The hotel was great value for money and everything about it exceeded our expectations. The owner was pleasant and extremely helpful. My wife left her phone on the bus on our journey to Shiga Kogen. The hotel owner helped us retrieve the phone by organising for it to be on the bus to Nagano on the exact date and time we departed.
The traditional breakfast was great and had lots of variety.
The owner even referred to me as Séamus-san, which was an added bonus!!!!!
