Good if you want to rest but there are definitely cheaper properties in Mirissa which are equally good. I don’t recommend it

Service from staff from the minute we arrived was outstanding.
Located close to beach . Set in beautiful surroundings with lush views
The room we found very warm.... the air con was noisy but worked once we worked out the best setting.

Location, room size, view (only on day 3 and 4)
Booked this room for a 4 night stay months ahead of time. This hotel is beautifully situated on top of a road facing the waste jungle. A perfect getaway from the noisy streets closer to the beach. The room was big and spacious, but unfortunately we did not get the room we ordered. In the photos it is the top room, but we got placed in the basement in the building which smelled of mold. We got the promise to get moved to the correct room the day after. This was not the case. They located us to the ground floor room. The staff hardly know any English, and it was difficult to communicate with them. In addition the wifi throughout the hotel got turned on and off continuously. Not what to expect at this highly priced room.
The day after we finally got moved (for the third time changing rooms) to the top floor.
Beautiful balcony and monkeys jumping from the roof top onto nearby trees. Pretty idyllic. This room was similar to the others. Very worn down bathtub, occasional warm water in the shower and occasionally working wifi connection.
This day 3 of 4 the room did not get cleaned by roomservice when we returned from the beach at 5 pm. Apparently you have to ask for the room to get cleaned, new towels and to have the bed being made up. The staff did not inform about this upon arrival which is pretty strange, considering the price of the room.
The pillows had moldy stains all over them and we both turned out to become sick from sleeping here and got exhausted from having to change room every day. Also all the rooms had many mosquitos and flies which were impossible to get rid of and bathtubs were dirty.
Had very high hopes for this stay, but it turned out to be the greatest disappointment I have had booking through booking.com ever. Would not recommend this place to anyone else.

Location
Not clean, cheap bad, no TV (- was not working), above all, small room (- feeling stuffy and like a home jail and I woke up many times while sleeping).
If it is 30-50$ room, I do agree with these conditions, but I stayed at around 110$ during Christmas season, and it was not worth paying this rate.

nice and kind staff, beautiful poolarea with view in the ‚jungle‘ - tea and coffee were in my room.
Breakfast was ok

Staff were friendly
The room was dirty, including the bedsheets and the fan was very dirty. The bathroom also needed maintenance.
Compared to other places we stayed throughout the trip this seemed the least value for money.

The pool was nice
The lane to the hotel is shared with other houses

The pool was beautiful. The room has very good AC! Great stay! Reception was very sweet and she hailed us a tuktuk to go for dinner as their restaurant was closed.
There was no AC in the breakfast area or reception as it is half outside so very hot. Also very steep hill to go up to the location and also no dinner was available. No hot water available- only room temperature

staff were helpful
breakfast was ok with very limited options
a) No sign boards of the hotel from main road. It gets very dark in the night as there are no street lights and hotel is atleast 300m inside. It was scary to walk inside from main road
b) looked like we were the only guests in the entire hotel. Understand it was off season but being 1 or 2 rooms occupied in such big hotel rings alert bells
c) there were hardly any staff. there was one old waiter person trying to be helpful along with the receptionist lady. they together carried our luggage bags as no one else was there
d) Rooms looked clean from outside but when you open wardrobes, mini fridge etc one can realize how dirty it was. Even the room key provided to us was dirty and stinking
e) I feel the limited staff trying to do their best but management and ownership of the property has completely ignored it. This is the first time I am disappointed with a property which is rated above 8/10 on booking.com

Tucked away just barely out of reach of the "hustle and bustle" of the main strip at Mirrissa, Sommerset Mirissa is a real gem. Very easy to get to via tuk-tuk or by walking but when you arrive you feel that you're in the middle of the jungle. The infinity pool overlooks the treetops teeming with birds and at least two species of frequent primate visitors. The entire hotel was recently constructed, very well-kept, and clean. I would highly recommend a stay at Sommerset Mirissa whether for families, couples, or solo-travelers with a moderate budget and a desire for a more comfortable stay than what's available in other locations.

The infinity pool was nice, very shallow, so more of a lounging pool, rather than one to do laps in. The twin room was spacious and clean and modern decor. Hotel itself was very nice and blends with the scenery. The breakfast was buffet style, a mixture of western and Sri Lankan style deserts - decent food. The AC was very good.
The hotel is situated up a short hill, steep but walkable. The neighbours do not necessarily give off the best vibes, but we didn't face any problems with them. The WiFi was quite poor, it only worked when we were sat on the balcony, which was a problem as I was planning to work whilst staying there. The hotel listed as having cooking classes available, one of the reasons for booking this hotel, which was not the case when we enquired in person at the front desk.

Everything was nice. 5 minutes walking distance from turtle bay where you can snorkel with turtles.
They didn’t make the beds or cleaned between a 2-nights stay.

Really nice pool area, lookes lovely, nice dining area, good breakfast
The room was not clean, faucets unwashed, shower was dirty, the fan had brown goo and many centimetres of dust on it. Had a wadrobe, but it was unusable due to extremely strong moldy smell.

The room was clean and fresh towels were provided provided.
Both my partner and I felt that the staff were not friendly compared to the wonderful people of Sri Lanka we've experienced over the last two weeks. At breakfast the cutlery was not clean and no fresh tea or coffee on offer. There are other places in Mirissa which are cheaper and more value for money with better service.

Nice pool with a good view
On arrival, we were shocked to find that the approach to the hotel is a long, steep passageway, just about wide enough to fit a car, littered with general waste. We were greeted by a manager, who told us that the room we had booked was not available as they had overbooked, but instead could have a similar room downstairs with no view. We agreed to see the room, and as we were tired from travelling, agreed to stay in this room. We were told we could change rooms the following day, but this would not be until post check out time. On walking into mirissa later that evening, we found there was no lighting, and there was dog excrement and a dead rat, amongst other things littering the approach to the hotel.
It quickly became apparent that the room we had been allocated was rarely used, as the shower flooded the bathroom every time it was used, and there were dead cockroaches outside the room that were there for the duration of our stay. We also had to prompt reception for house keeping, as by late the following afternoon no attempt had been made to clean the room.
Due to this we decided to check out a day early. When we went to reception we were told that we had already been charged for the night we didn’t want to stay and this could not be refunded. We drew the managers attention to the fact we had accepted a room that we had not booked due to their mistake, but this went ignored and he was not willing to show any goodwill. We were passed a phone to speak to the general manager, who also did not seem to prioritise customer service, and despite our offer of paying for the commission, insisted they keep the full value of our booking, and offered us a free stay in the future. An offer, which is frankly ridiculous, knowing we have travelled from the UK and are unlikely to return in the near future. We have since asked if we can donate this free stay to our fantastic driver, who is frequently in mirissa, as a compromise. This has been refused.
