- Best host with best accommodation with jungle feel.
Sujee welcomed us warmly and as is often the case, he first offered us a fresh coconut from his garden. Sujee and his family have a wonderful big garden with all kinds of trees and plants. The balcony is located overlooking the river. Simply wonderful. sujee showed us the cottage and the balcony in detail which ensures the most beautiful view.
In the evening we ordered food from him and he served us the best curry in huge portions. Simply delicious. Sujee left us no wish.
He arranged a half day safari for us for the next day. This was also fantastic. He picked us up at 05:45 and returned to the cabin around 1:45. He doesn't care about the time. He took more time than the allotted time. On the way, the driver (sujee was our driver and guide.) showed us all kinds of animals in detail and gave us information. We saw elephants as well as small animals. It was truly an amazing experience.
Sujee took us to town in the evening. We walked a bit there.
In the evening we again had a delicious dinner, kottu roti. On both evenings we talked a lot with Suzy and the other lovely couple. It was really funny and fun.
The breakfast on the second morning was again very tasty and plentiful. Sujee arranged a driver for our next destination and we even received a small gift as a farewell.
10 stars for accommodation. 10 stars for service. 10 stars for the place and especially 10 stars for Suzy and his family!
We 1000% recommend Sujee and Peacock Riverside.!!!!! Thank you again Suji...!!!🙏

The guest house is placed in front of a river and surrounded by coconut trees which allows for a wonderful natural experience.
The owner and staff were really helpful and enjoyed chatting with guests.
Suji organized the safari for us. We were really grateful for that and can totally recommend this adventure! He is a really great driver. He has all the information about the animals. We spent a full day in the park. Do contact Suji if you come to Udawalawe. May he give you a good experience.

Beautiful couple that run this villa! They are very welcoming and make you feel at home straight away.It is a quiet environment. The homecooked meals were excellent and probably the best food I have had in Sri Lanka. Sujee who was our safari guide was very knowledgable and went out of his way to show us the animals in there natural habitat and was very gentle in his approach. We were able to experience wild elephants coming up to our car... so special!

I chose a quiet room overlooking the river on the top floor.
The room is very nice and clean, the bathroom is big and clean, and the staff is very kind and helpful with everything.
We had drinks and lunch on the hut, while looking at birds and monkeys in the trees over the river (tip: bring some binoculars. We used ours alot looking at many different birds).
The food is very good and the surroundings while eating are so nice.
We booked our safari tour through the hotel, and when we asked the staff what time was best to go they said at 5.30 in the morning. And they were very correct. We booked a full day with him for Safari.
We had a jeep to ourselves. Our safari driver was so fun, nice and very observant. He was fast at driving (but still careful) and running (into the ticket office), so we were the very first to enter the park and within 10 seconds we saw two pregnant elephants and a wild boar with babies!
We had around 5-10 minutes with them alone before a few other cars came, and it was a great experience.
Our driver took us places where there were no other cars to see elephants, crocodiles, tucan birds, deers and many more animals. We felt like we were completely alone in the park. He could tell us many facts about animals and was very eager to show us how beautiful the park was.
He also made sure that we felt that we had seen enough and satisfied with the tour, and we really were.
This experience is something we will never forget, and the hotel and safari is definitely something we want to come back to.

Sujee and his family are amazing people and make you feel so settled into the accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and have a great balcony which looks out onto the river/the jungle. His wife is an AMAZING cook, she cooked traditional Sri Lankan foods for me throughout my stay which was an extra bonus! I would like to thank Sujee, his wife, his children, his brothers and his brothers wives for personally inviting me into their home over the Sri Lankan new years.
I am a solo traveler and did not have to worry about anything at all - Sujee sorted out my travel to Udawalawe and my travel onwards to Colombo!!
The Safari tour was such an amazing experience, Sujee is SO knowledgeable about all sorts of different animals and he is a great driver.
Thank you again for making my trip so enjoyable and making me feel so at ease!
everything was perfect

We had a wonderful two night stay at this lovely accommodation located in the middle of jungle. It was very peaceful and we were very well taken care by Surjee and his wife. Surjee is a safari guide at the Udawalawe National Park and his wife is an amazing home cook. If you choose to stay with them I highly recommend to eat there too.
The room was comfortable and clean. There was an electric fan and an air conditioner, shower and an outdoor seating place facing the jungle.
This is well suited for those who want to switch off and relax in a beautiful and calming surroundings.
Wi-Fi connection was poor. Outside the accommodation signal was a little better.

It was cheap
The owner wanted 145$ per person for the safari. That's a rip off! And a lot more expensive than all the other safaris in Sri Lanka. I did Eco Park for 25 and have friends that did Yala for 40$. The owner seems nice but something is completely off and I'm not just talking about the safari. I wouldn't recommend going here

The place is run by lovely and extremely friendly owner. He cares a lot to make the stay enjoyable. Amazing homemade food prepared by the owner - full Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner – which we could not finish as there was too much food.
Location is amazing – with the view at lake. You can hear and see a lot of animals, peacocks, lizards, squirrels, variety of beards – you hear all jungle’s voices. The best place for visit around including Elephants Transit Home and Udawalawe National Park. You can use bicycles for free which is amazing way to see around. Highly recommended!

Had a fantastic stay at this place! Big room, working ac and fan, mosquito nets available - everything for a good night's sleep! The hosts are VERY nice and welcoming, made sure i had everything i need and more, even though i came out of the blue with a last minute booking! (i checked in 10 minutes after booking the room). They also cooked me a huge and very tasty dinner and breakfast, authentic local food and even provided free coconuts from their own garden! The safari they organized for me was amazing, sujee (owner)is very knowledgeable, very sharp-eyed to point out all the animals, more so, actually, than the ranger from the park! The price was very reasonable for such a great adventure. Overall highly recommended, great people, wonderful room, perfect safari experience, couldnt ask for more for such a low price!

Generosity is the first thing that comes to our mind when we think back to our stay at peacock Riverside. It is a family-run business and the owners were so very kind and helpful in every possible way. The location is perfect, the entrance to the Udawalawe National Park is just a 10-min drive away. The room was simple, clean and comfortable. Dinners were home-cooked, delicious Sri Lankan dishes.A very nice and memorable experience!

Nice and quiet homestay with a great host!
Very nice and considerate host, who went out of his way to help us. He even drove us to the bus station on the last day, when we were late for the bus. The food was also nice, and because we had to go to a safari early in the morning he and his wife packed a picnic for us instead of breakfast. There were mosquito covers around the beds

To stay in this Jungle Hut was absolut lovely and felt like living in the middle of mother nature! Good to know: There is just one Bunglow, so it was a very quiet stay together with my boyfriend and lots of nature sounds. A balcony facing the river joins the room.He was very dedicated to keeping us happy during our stay here, he was very helpful and friendly every day to organize Safari, transport and food! The food, cooked by his wife, was the best rice and curry I had so far in Sri Lanka! And it was lovely prepared as we got And the owner (Sujee) arranged a very nice safari tour, he picked us up in the early morning and made the full day trip with us!
I can highly recommend this place, when you need a quiet place in the middle of nowhere with excellend food and lovley owners. Thank you for everything.
I recommend Sujee and peacock Riverside to you.

"" A beautiful place and excellent Safari service.
+ Sujee is super friendly guy and the place he just finished building is beautiful. A lovely white and wooden house in the middle of nature, close to the natural park. Sujee is also the best guide for the tour he brought us in between the busy ours. And the food his wife prepared was delicious.

During our stay at the Peacock Riverside Guest house, we did not only enjoy great service, an amazing safari, very clean rooms and delicious food, we also made such a wonderful friendship with Sujee.
Sujee and his wife and brother (who owns the restaurant around the corner) are such kind and lovely people. They always made sure that we have everything we need and arranged everything for us.
Sujee himself will be your guide for the safari. Within our tour, we were really lucky and saw many different animals, as Sujee knows where to look and drive. He also introduced us to his squirrel friend „Chuty“.
As for the rooms, they are very clean, equipped with a fan and ac and have modern wash rooms. The rice and curry Sujee‘s wife prepred for us was more than amazing!
All in all, we could not have been happier during our stay and are glad to have made a friend like Sujee. We are looking forward to our next stay😊

Really clean and comfortable room situated in a beautiful garden and right next to a river in the rainy season. Nice owner,Happy to arrange safari and all done with ease and grace. This is a lovely place to stay for your time in Udawalawe.
We loved staying at Peacock Riverside ""
Right in the jungle with a delicious food and views. The owner arranged safari and dinner for us, as well as visit to the close elephant orphanage. We highly recommend this place for your stay at Udawalawe!..

The environment and blood stain at room floor, this was a shock to us.
8.0
The room is quite spacious. There was even a little patio with chair/table facing the woods. Hot water. A modest breakfast (one egg, 4 slices of bread, jam, watermelon, coffee) included in the price. One can also arrange safari with the owner for several different duration/price options (I ended up using another guide for a longer trip at a substantially lower price point).
The place is quite far from the main road. I like walking, but you can get a tuktuk as well. There is only one restaurant nearby - a bit pricey, but it’s not like you have much of a choice. There is no WiFi and the data signal (Dialog) is virtually non-existent. There was also no dinner available at the guesthouse, so ended up having to use the sole restaurant nearby.

The food was also nice, and because we had to go to a safari early in the morning he and his wife packed a picnic for us instead of breakfast. There were mosquito covers around the beds
in the room, which was very nice! Besides this it was very affordable. I would definitely recommend.
it’s placed a bit far from the center of Udawalawe (about 4 kilometers), but the host was very helpful and willing to drive us.
Because of the surrounding nature there were some ants in the room, but they didn’t come near the bed.

We would have rated the facilities higher if there had not been some garbage about. Might have contributed to increase in flies. We mentioned this and we are sure that Sujee will be proactive in attending to this. He was very helpful in arranging a safari and a taxi to our next destination (paid driver separately since we wished to stop on the way). Loved the details to the room and finding a land monitor close by. Wonderfully presented dinner which equaled in taste. Sujee’s English is very good and his wife is very nice.
