This is a magical house on a large private estate with tons of charm and personality and spacious indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy including three stories of decks, a state of the art jacuzzi, and a hidden arcade in a large walk-in closet with a classic Ms. Pacman video console with 60 of the most popular video games (including: Ms. Pacman, Pacman, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galaxian, Space Invaders, Centipede, Phoenix, and many others). Plus, the location is amazing!
The house has it all including a gourmet kitchen, a large jacuzzi, high speed wifi and theater style A/V system. When you are ready to explore Austin, you can walk to just about anything you could want as the house is in the heart of the city a mile south of downtown and a block off charming and entertaining South Congress Avenue (SoCo). Minutes away to all kinds of restaurants, shops, clubs, cafes, Rainey Street, 6th Street, Barton Springs, or to see the bats! This large, comfortable home is a dream rental for people looking to be in the heart of it all, yet feel at home in a creative house on a large, private and peaceful estate.
Perfectly situation for easy Austin enjoyment, we have hosted quite a few families, reunions, a small wedding, girls' weekends, corporate groups for SXSW, and other similar gatherings. We are sorry, no bachelor parties or wild parties of any type please.
From the house, you can walk or bike to hundreds of great restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, music venues, you name it. And the best part is that at the end of a day of exploring and adventure, you are able to return "home" to a comfortably furnished house, cook a meal in the gourmet kitchen, watch a movie on the large screen AV system, enjoy a cocktail on the third story deck with a downtown view, or soak in the large, outdoor jacuzzi. The property is large, heavily treed, and private, and the house, an architectural fantasy, straight out of a C.S. Lewis novel. Spacious and beautiful, artistic and original, this unique house is a true gem and in an exceptional location.

Location of the home is great - walking distance to tons of shops on South Congress and 1st street. Close to Barton Springs as well. House is unique, definitely an experience. Hot tub is a nice touch. Few updates could help the home. Host very responsive to a few questions. Thanks!

We came to Austin for the Stockshow and decided to rent this Fun House! The kids had a blast and the rooms were amazing in unique.

We did a guys weekend in Austin and the house worked out great for us! Location is awesome, close to SoCo and walking distance to downtown. The host was very helpful every step of the way.
Only two things making 4 starts instead of 5 (would have done 4.5 but that isn't an option):
- This is an older house and the bathrooms are of that period. Worked fine for a guys trip but not sure if our families would have been crazy about them.
- This house is quirky! We really enjoyed it, but things like having to walk through another bedroom to get to a bedroom might not be for everyone.

We had an adult outing in Austin with the goal of being close to the action for music and nightlife. The house was perfect for our group. We could walk to several restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and stores. Downtown was a short Uber ride but the stuff by this house is better than the downtown scene anyway. The beds were comfortable, the location was great, and Brian was an awesome host. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for an Austin getaway with a larger group.

We were unfortunately unable to make our trip due to illness. However, Brian was so helpful before out trip and so understanding. I'm sorry we didn't get to enjoy the house.

I had a great weekend with 5 ladies at Brian's place. The proximity to SoCo cannot be beat. The instructions were very clear on how to operate everything and the house was quirky and fun. It was really hot that weekend, and the AC performed great. Well stocked kitchen supplies, and washer and dryer were great to wash towels after we got back from Barton's.
Just keep in mind that 1 room requires you to go through other rooms in order to get to a bathroom. This didn't bother us but it's worth noting.
If you're considering staying in SoCo, I'd highly recommend this home for your stay!

We were five adult women friends. Home was well appointed, comfortable and special. Owner was very responsive. Area is fabulous. Special details of house—stained glass, tree house and vintage pieces were spectacular. We would come again.

My family and friends spent Thanksgiving at this magical, warm, secret garden, home. This was the best Thanksgiving ever and staying at this house was a big part of it!
Everything we could need was here. Fully stocked kitchen made cooking Thanksgiving dinner a breeze.
The house was big enough for all 8 of us. Everyone had their own space. Plus, we were in walking distance to Congress st and 1st st!!! Both have the best Austin local business & shopping & resaurant/food trucks!!!!
We loved our destination holiday at this special home

Hot rooms
It was a great property I cannot deny that, it was quirky, clean and the owners were nice. However a few rooms were hot. I understand it was pretty hot outside but if that’s the case we need a warning before hand, the bottom floor was okay but the top floor some rooms were hot during the day and still warm at night. It’s not a cheap stay, so knowing the situation before hand would have been great.

Unique house in a wonderful location
We loved this house for our group! It is incredibly unique and whimsical with walking distance proximity to South Congress (favorites include Torchy’s, Bouldin Creek Cafe, Salty Donut, and the Soup Peddler). Brian is extremely responsive and most importantly, kind! Thanks for a wonderful visit.

Great house for large groups!
Great house for a large group! My friends and I stayed at Brian's house for a bachelorette party, and the location can't be beat. A short walk to shops/restaurants on S. Congress, quick Uber ride to Rainey St, Downtown Austin, etc. It was all ideal! I would definitely stay here again when traveling back to Austin. Brian was very responsive to my questions. The outdoor space was very appreciated as well.

Experience all of Austin
We had a great trip. The house is exactly as advertised - great back yard; perfect hot tub; big open first floor; and a quirky layout upstairs. Brian was attentive and responsive -- although we had no issues. The location in Austin is great -- a quick walk to many places. We really enjoyed our stay in the house.

Great Stay / Great Location
We loved our stay at this property. The yard, rooftop and hot tub were great touches and the location is perfect to explore Austin. Make sure to take a good look around all of the fun nooks and different rooms... we didn't realize at first that the toilet was separate from the shower upstairs. Owners very responsive.

Quirky house, great location
This is a very quirky house in a great location: walking distance to South Congress, Ladybird Lake , and more. The first floor has an excellent floor plan: an open concept living room and gourmet kitchen that is a great gathering space. We enjoyed the hot tub on the back patio too. Agree with all the other reviews on good heating/cooling systems (once you figure out the thermostats!), good bathrooms, accessible owner, many restaurants in walking distance. Key code lock on the doors made individual comings and goings a breeze. The house is up several steps from the street, and set back which makes it quiet despite being on a busy street, but indeed does make it difficult to find in the dark.
My only caution is that there are are only 3 bedrooms that can be fully private; for the other two, the 4th requires entry through another bedroom and the 5th is actually a space with a privacy curtain right next to the 2nd floor bathroom. As a group in our 60's and 70's, negotiating access to the 4th took more mobility than most of us had. But this would be a marvelous house for a family: the kids would love exploring all the staircases and going through each others' rooms.

Grand Prix weekend
The house is artistic and fun and accommodated nine of us comfortably. The location is excellent with access to restaurants and some of the funky shops and murals Austin is known for. We had a great weekend.

The Clocktower Off Congress
The house is in an ideal location, has cold air conditioning for hot summer days, and is large enough to sleep 7 adults with no issues. Location-wise, you are walking distance to congress, torchy's, magnolia cafe and bouldin cafe. Downtown is a $6-$10 uber ride away. Our group of 7 came in August and were very happy that the central air effectively cooled all the bedrooms even with the multiple patios. The house is definitely different but has a lot of style, and I would highly recommend it for a future visit.

Great location! This house keeps Austin weird!
Super unique house in a great location. A short walk to South Congress and so many great spots to eat. The owners were very helpful, check in and out was a breeze. Highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a great stay in Austin.

Unique home, Great location!
We stayed here for a birthday celebration with a group of 7. Loved the kitchen/living room for meals, hanging out and board games. The multiple patios offered some nice outdoor time when the sun was shining. One day we had a monsoon type storm which caused a bit of a leak, nothing big or bothersome. It took us over 24 hours to find the 2nd bathroom! We thought it was a closet... be sure to look behind the paneled doors upstairs. The property is a little hard to find in the dark as the house is set back from the street behind trees and hedge. It makes the home nice and private once you know where you are going. Beds were all comfortable and all amenities were available. We walked to Magnolia Cafe, Torchy's and Bouldin Cafe... delicious! The owners were easily reachable and super flexible with our check-in and check-out. Thank you for a wonderful visit to Austin!

Fun and Funky House in a Great Part of Town!
This was a great place for a family weekend. It was weird and cool in all the ways Austin itself is, and within walking distance to fantastic shops and restaurants. Yes, it's an old house, and it's quirky, with mysterious light switches and funny little twists and turns, but that just makes it more charming. The kitchen was perfectly stocked, though you may want to brush up on your french press skills as we found no traditional drip coffee maker (which was fine, it just required a lot of coffee making in the morning). Definitely not a great place for older people who struggle to get around once the downstairs bedroom is taken; the upstairs has lots of steps and low ceilings and things that could be harder to navigate for some, but we enjoyed. Excellent outdoor seating areas and balconies. Despite a few small stains on the carpets, everything was clean and dust-free. Brian was very helpful and responsive when we communicated. I highly recommend this house!

Perfect location and lots of fun for kids
I grew up in Austin and this is my favorite neighborhood to stay in when I come back to visit, this house in particular is in a perfect spot! Walking distance to all sorts of classic Austin restaurants and shops. The house itself is very unique and was really fun for the kids to explore and run around in. We usually spend a lot of time at parks when we visit our family there, but this time the kids were content to play in the house and the fenced in yard which made our stay that much more relaxing... and the nice big decked in hot tub helped too! The only drawbacks were that my son and brother have dust allergies and the couches in the main room and the back bedroom are made with feather pillows- wonderfully comfortable, but hard for folks with dust allergies. Also, the parking was street (or alley) parking only, no driveway or anything - coming from LA we are used to that but it was a little hard for my elderly mom getting to and from the car. Overall this place was great and lots of fun, the house is funky, cool, and eclectic in a perfectly "old-school-South-Austin" kind of way. We had a lovely stay.
