About this house rental
Character abounds in renowned winemaker Bryan Babcock and his wife Lisa's enchanting 1920s Mediterranean home, situated perfectly for exploring the spectacular Santa Barbara Riviera (3 minutes from beach!) & nearby wine country. Located in Montecito on nearly an acre of landscaped grounds, the four bedroom house accommodates eight guests comfortably. For an additional cost feel free to inquire about our charming guest cottage. House guests receive complimentary tasting & discounts on our wines.
Ideal Rooms for Entertaining: The fabulous dining room comfortably seats up to ten guests and is conveniently situated next to the gourmet kitchen. Well equipped, the cheery kitchen, with fantastic garden view, features a 6-burner Wolf range with double oven, dishwasher, microwave, and stainless refrigerator, as well as accessories for meal preparation and service. Outstanding caterers are available for special events. Adjacent to the dining area, is the large, cozy family room with views of the majestic oaks, flower garden, and fountain. Curl up with a book or watch a movie in this gorgeous room with beamed ceiling and beautiful old world fireplace.
Charming, Restful Bedrooms: Upstairs, four charming and restful bedrooms await you. Three of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms. The master, with an en suite bathroom has a shower, garden view, television, king bed and romantic balcony. Another bedroom, also with balcony, has a bath adjacent, queen bed and a view of the rose garden. The third bedroom, with en suite bathroom and shower, has a beautiful antique queen bed and a gorgeous view of the garden with the fountain below. Finally, the fourth upstairs room has a queen bed a small sunroom, perfect for reading, and a small half bath nearby.
Inviting Guest Cottage: Down a stone path, an inviting, two story guest cottage accommodates another four guests and is available for larger groups at an extra cost. The upstairs is bright, with high beamed ceilings and is thoughtfully appointed with a king bed, charming decor, and two sets of French doors leading to a large balcony. There is a full bath upstairs as well, with a beautiful vintage tiled floor. The first level has a double bed, desk and a kitchenette with a small fridge, sink, coffeemaker, microwave and toaster, with seating and a cute table perfect for a morning scone and coffee. Parking is conveniently available near the home's front door, with room for a vehicle or two back by the guest cottage.
Our home is perfect for spending quality time with friends and family. Due to our small quiet neighborhood location we allow only small intimate gatherings, we are not able to host large events.
If renting our property, gatherings that include more than 4 non-occupant guests requires approval by the owners.
All bedrooms in the Main House are upstairs.
Regular Gardening schedule occurs weekly on Tuesdays.
Pets require approval prior to booking. We allow pets with the consideration of a $360 pet fee (per pet) (per week) & a signed pet agreement.
House guests receive complimentary wine tasting at Babcock Vineyards Tasting Room located in the acclaimed Santa Rita Hills appellation.* The winery is a picturesque 50 min drive north of the Vintner's House. Guests also receive a 25% discount on any wine purchases. If you can’t make it up to the winery, but would like to have some Babcock wines during your stay, we are more than happy to deliver them to the house prior to your arrival. Babcockwinery.com

We had an amazing girls’ weekend celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday and loved the beautiful yard and excellent location of this magical property.

For the second summer in a row, my husband and I hosted our children and their families at the Babcock house. Although we live within easy driving distance from each other in LA County, we rarely spend unstructured time together. The property is a quick drive from our homes but a world away. The house plus cottage are perfect for our young grandkids. The beautiful fenced yard is a perfect playground, and it’s easy to give over one of the two large living rooms to their toys and games. The big kitchen allows for multiple adults to work in it simultaneously. Santa Barbara is close by, with a children’s science museum and a zoo in addition to restaurants and shopping. Montecito is convenient for grocery shopping (and Urgent Care!), and Butterfly Beach is close by. The week together is often noisy and chaotic but a priceless opportunity for all the generations to create and maintain close ties under one roof. The house and grounds are unique, and we cherish the annual opportunity to make them our own.

We loved our stay at this beautiful property. It was a calm retreat from the hustle and bustle of graduation weekend. It felt like walking in to a modern history book. The surroundings and building are so nicely restored and the furnishings are carefully thought out and comfortable. We would stay here again for sure.

We had just an amazing time in this Montecito home. The property is special. Just a vintage home that is comfortable with fun and special decor. The garden is exceptional. After the hustle and bustle of Santa Barbara we loved returning to the relaxing grounds. The outdoor spaces were fantastic and our 2 dogs enjoyed it all fully. After dinner in the garden we ended every evening in the large living room with the stone fire blazing. Terrific!

The home was exactly as pictured. It was a beautiful, private property ideally situated close to town but also right across the street from a sweet little walking trail. The living spaces worked perfectly for our family and the backyard was terrific for sunny relaxing afternoons!

My closest family and friends stayed at this beautiful home and guest house the week before my wedding. The property was spacious, charming, and had lots of character. The layout of the house was fun to explore and the outdoor space was just as beautiful as the inside. The hosts were extremely helpful and responsive.

Montecito vacation
I was looking for a special home to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with our family, and this was such a beautiful place to stay! We all were very happy, had most of our meals outside, with the gorgeous weather, and enjoyed the location. Even our dog enjoyed the yard! As a Designer, myself, I appreciated all the art and design choices made for the home by the owner. With many family members that love to read, our only helpful hint would be for better lighting by the beds and sitting areas. We loved our stay and really enjoyed visiting your winery! What a fun excursion and some of the best wines I've tasted! We are now wine club members at Babcock Winery and hope to visit again soon. We have beautiful memories to last a lifetime! Thank you for sharing your special home with us!

What an incredible stay! It was our daughter's wedding weekend and we wanted to make it a fun, family stay. Beautiful home, beautiful yard - we instantly felt at home, and frankly, did not want to leave! Perfect space for all of us and the cottage was a bonus for the newlyweds! Everything we needed and more - cannot wait to go back!

The kitchen was well appointed. Everything was very clean. The manager was very responsive. The area is very quiet except for the occasional train, which we actually liked.
We were very peopled out the last night and this place was perfect for everyone to have their own space.

It’s hard to describe just how wonderful this place is! While the property itself is gorgeous and feels like a wonderful step back in time, it’s more the little treasures thoughtfully placed around the house (we loved the coffee mugs with quotes from Glenda, Frank, Bob etc!). If you are a chef, the kitchen is magical- especially the oven. We are intrigued about the secret third story however, and were delighted to find the secret, though locked, entrance. Another treasure, I’m sure! ❤️ Can’t wait to return.

The perfect spot!
We so enjoyed our few days stay here in this gorgeous home in the beautiful town of Montecito. The expansive yard felt like our own private park and we enjoyed dining and relaxing outside. Our young son especially enjoyed the play structure! We can't wait to come back.
